Chapter 2: Back to Home

     (Zaria POV) 

I opened my eyes and the bright light of the room welcomed me. I put a hand in front of my eyes to shield my eyes and tried to look around. I was present in the infirmary but why was I there? As soon as the question popped into my mind, all the previous incidents started coming into my mind. 

I got up from bed and looked around. A doctor and two nurses were present. 

"Mami!!! Where are you?" I cried and tears started rolling down my cheeks. 

The door burst open and my parents entered in the door with my twin brother Zurian. 

"Mom! Where is Mami???  I want to see her," I said, and she hugged me while rubbing my back to calm me down a bit. 

"Please Calm down, my child. She will be sad to see you in this state," Mother said, and I looked towards her eyes for confirmation. Her eyes were also filled with unshed tears. 

"Where is Mami?" I asked and she blinked to control herself before answering my question. 

"She is waiting for you. We need to bury her and only then she will get freedom. She is in pain and we have to free her," She said while stroking my hair. 

"I don't want to send her away. I don't want to live without her," I said, and my mother kissed me on the forehead. 

"She is currently in pain and is waiting for us to free her from this pain. Do you want to keep her in this much P-pain?” A sob escaped her lips when she said that to me and I shook my head in no.

“I don’t want to see her in pain. She deserves no pain. She was so loving and loved me so much,” I said while hiccuping and wiping my tears. But more and more kept flowing.

“That’s my brave girl. Come and free her,” She said while helping me to get off of the bed. I don’t want to live without her, but at the same time, I want to free her from every pain,” I opened the door and she was lying on a white bed. Her whole body was covered in several tubes and she was looking pale white like a sheet. I felt like someone pinched my heart in his fist.

“Mami!!!” I cried while hugging her body. She was on a ventilator and now, they have to turn this off and bury her. They have already put a chair near her bed for me. I almost ran towards her and sat on the chair.

“Mami!!! I love you so much. Please don’t forget me when you meet with your mother. I know you will remain happy there,” I sobbed hard and came close to her ear.

“Mami! I will take your revenge and will kill that vicious Prince and Uncle Calvin. You can now rest in peace, I will fulfill this promise,” I whispered slowly, and then stood up from the seat.

“I am ready,” I said to my mother and the doctor came near her and started turning off the machines. I hugged my mother and buried my head in her black dress and tried hard to control my sobs. Zurian came near me and held my hand strongly.

“Don’t worry, Sis! I am always with you. You can always come to me for any of your problems. I will help you with everything,” he said, and I nodded while smiling between my tears.

We have her burial ceremony in the elf kingdom because we don’t want to enter in the vampire kingdom again. All the people were dressed in black and I also wore a small black dress which she made for me, but I never thought that I would wear this dress for her burial. She was a pure soul and I am sure that God will give her a high position in heaven.

We buried her and I put a fresh rose in her coffin and bade her goodbye forever. Mom was also crying and I held the hand of Zurian. All the royal guards give her a salute and a special parade. Many people present flowers and bouquets to her. After the ceremony ended, we came back to the Palace. All the things seem so foreign and empty. Mother showed me my room, which was adjacent to the Zurian’s, because I didn’t want to sleep alone. 

When the night came, I closed my eyes, and sleep engulfed me, but after an hour, I woke up with a nightmare while screaming. Zurian entered in my room while running.

“What happened, Sis?” He asked and I told him about my nightmare. 

“Don’t worry, I will help you to sleep,” he said, and started telling me a story when I closed my eyes. He put a hand on my head and used his magic to soothe my pain and kept my nightmares away. I woke up late and after quickly finishing my morning routine, I headed towards the dining room.

All of them were already present there and I said Good Morning to them in a loud voice and forced a small smile on my lips. All of us have sad looks on our faces, but none of us want to show it on our faces.

“Zaria! Taste these pancakes, I specially prepared these for you,” Mother said while handing me my favorite apple pancakes, but I don’t want to eat pancakes. Mami used to prepare these for me and no chef in the world can compete with her on these, in taste.

“I-i wanted to taste cereal,” I said while forcing a smile on my face.

“Sure, sure! You can taste this. I have already prepared all the things for you,” Momma said while handing me the bowl of cereal.

“Thank you,” I said while filling a plate for myself. Zurian asked me to serve the cereal to him. We finished breakfast in silence and then Zurian asked me to join him. I had nothing specific to do, so I joined him. 

“Here is the garden. Aunt Arabella loved this garden,” he explained, and I made a mental note to take care of this garden. It was a flower garden and Mami loved the flowers. We had several pots and different kinds of flowers in our house back then. She take care of them and used to inform me about the benefits of each plant. 

She watered them, put fertilizer in them, and trimmed them into different shapes. I usually helped her in taking care of her plants. 

“Here, let’s build a mud castle together,” Zurian said while pointing towards the place. I nodded and then we both started building a big mud castle. We spent our full day in building it and at the end of the day, a big castle was present in front of us. We were both covered in mud and water from head to toe, We looked towards each other and started laughing uncontrollably. Mother took both of us and ordered the maids to run two warm baths for us. After an hour, we were sitting with the rest of our family in neat and clean dresses after taking a long warm bath.

“So, I think you two enjoyed your day, right?” Father asked, and I nodded.

“I really enjoyed playing with Zurian. You know! We built a big castle and we are the King and Queen of that castle.” I shared my greatest achievement with them and they were both all ears like It was the most important thing to do.

“Wow! That’s great. We will surely want to see the castle which you built with so much effort,” Father said, and a proud smile started playing on my lips.

“Mommy! Zurian guided me in all the things,” I said before digging in my dinner and Mom nodded with a small before starting her own dinner.
