"This place is surrounded. Come with me quietly and I won't harm any of them"
Without a second thought, Celeste spun around "I fought with him and out of spite, I wanted to hide from him. I'm sorry for lying" Caspian's eyes flashed. She deduced he was probably angry with her for supposedly lying. When he told them to leave, an unfamiliar feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. Disappointment. Why was he kicking her out so fast? Couldn't he fight for her or try to resist a bit longer? She'd spent a week there and thought that despite his rotten attitude towards her, he cared about her. She hadn't missed the covert looks he sent her way when he thought no one was paying attention. She could feel his eyes on her, boring a hole into her. Sometimes his gaze was so intense that she was forced to look up and meet his eyes. Only then would he avert his gaze. Had what she'd seen in those eyes a lie?
"Let's go my love" Marmon said in a sweet voice that made her want to rip his head off. If it wasn't for the threat he'd issued earlier about harming the innocent people in the pack, he would be dead. She wasn't leaving with him because she was scared. Once they were far away from the Prime Howlers, he was a dead man.
"Give me a second to say goodbye to my friends" she snapped and walked past Caspian to where the other pack members had gathered. Isolde opened her arms and she walked into them. Celeste had come to see her as an older sister
"If you ever need a place to stay just come back. You're welcome here anytime"
"Thank you"
"I will miss you sexy. So sad to see you go" Sid said pretending to sniff. Aside from being a joker, he was also a good person and an excellent fighter. She'd challenged him when Caspian wasn't around and had been surprised at how agile he was despite his big build.
"You'll come back to visit. Right?" Ilya asked. She was around nineteen and the brightest person she'd ever met. One night Celeste had been looking out for Evan when she'd caught the girl trying to sneak out. An intense gaze had had Ilya spilling her guts. She'd confessed that she was meeting with her mate who wasn't a werewolf and when the time was right she would tell everyone. That little shared secret had brought them close and they had become fast friends.
"If your Alpha permits me"
"Nonsense, you're welcome here anytime" Isolde affirmed. They all nodded, except Morgana of course. She couldn't wipe the smile off her face even if her life depended on it. Taking a step back, she smiled at the people who she had come to consider her friends.
"Bye guys" she said walking past Caspian who didn't bother looking at her. His annoying beta was nowhere to be seen and she wondered if he hadn't gone to see her off because he disliked her "Let's go" Celeste told Marmon in a tight voice. As he was leading her towards his car, he put his hand on her lower back. She wanted so much to shrug it off but that would contradict her earlier claim about fighting with him.
In reality he was Dalila's errand boy. She had promised to make him most powerful wolf to walk on earth if he listened to her. Stupid as he is, he believed that witch. She couldn't deny that Evan was right about them. Most witches were cunning and ambitious. Her mother had told her about covens and warned her about pledging her allegiance to one. If Marmon thought Dalila would come through with her promise then he was an i***t.
"Why bother running when you know you can't hide from me?" He asked leaning close to her.
"Honey, if you don't put some distance between us, I'll do away with your tongue" he let out a short mirthless laugh.
"Mate me and I won't take you back to Dalila. We both know how much you hate that place"
"Mate you? Do you think Dalila will let you get away with that?"
"I have an entire pack of rogues. No matter how strong she is, she can't take us all out"
It was her turn to laugh "You don't say"
"Don't underestimate me Celeste"
She would never do that since she knew how stupid it was to judge someone by their looks. A lot of people she'd come across had taken one look at her and thought she was a helpless woman. Had she been a dark witch like Dalila, all of them would be now dead. Ignoring Marmon's suggestion, she pretended to stare outside the window at the scenery they passed. In reality, she was trying to figure out how many men he had and if she could take them all out. The week she had spent with the pack had helped her a lot. Without any use for her magic, she had managed to recharge and was almost at full capacity. Light witches like her got their power from nature so even a day of rest was more than enough. Marmon didn't know that so he thought the spells Dalila had cast on her were still active.
So far she had counted five cars with four people in each. That was only twenty. How about the rogues he had surrounding the pack? Were they on foot? Or had they taken another route? "Where are the rest of your men?" She asked when they were far enough from Caspian's territory.
"What men?" He asked making her sit up. Scratching his chin he added "Ah, you believed that s**t about me surrounding the pack?"
"You lied?"
"How else was was I supposed to get you to leave without a fight?"
"For that alone I will take my sweet time ending you" she yelled curling her hands into fists. The cars came to a stop. All five of them
"What is it? Why did you stop?" Marmon asked.
"I didn't sir" the driver replied trying to start the engine. It roared once then died "I'll have a look" he opened the door, his movements a bit clumsy. They watched as he moved to the hood of the car then bolted, as if the devil was pursuing him.
"What is wrong with him?" The i***t sitting next to her asked. Having sensed danger, the other guy on the front seat also scrambled out of the car leaving the two of them alone.
"Those are what I call clever wolves" she bit out turning to look a still confused Marmon "You stupid, stupid dog. Don't you get it?" He furrowed his eyebrows then after a few seconds he shot her an incredulous look.
"Y.. you.... you stopped th.... the car?"
"The problem with you and Dalila is that you think I stayed put because I was helpless"
"But the spell..."
"She cast on me? I could easily break it but I wanted to save my magic for the one she put around the perimeter" she flicked her wrist, the action causing Marmon to bang his head against the window. It shattered, the pieces falling in and outside the car. Some were stuck on side of his head
"You little b***h!" He snarled trying to reach for her but she sent him flying out the same window he'd broken. She got out of the car before his body touched the ground. The rogues in the other cars weren't smart or they would have left too. Instead they charged at her all at once. She threw them in different directions hoping to go back to Marmon but the coward was nowhere to be seen. Judging from the copper blast of particles, he'd used one of Dalila's spells to run away from her. She wanted to go after him but stopped. She was too angry and might end up taking out her anger on him.
She was angry at her mother for leaving without telling her where she was going. At Dalila for keeping her hostage for so long. At Caspian too for not lifting a finger to stop her. At the world for making her who she was. Why couldn't she be a normal witch? Did she ask the universe or anyone for that matter to make her special? Marmon's minions got up grunting
"Why are you still here?" She screamed in exasperation "You boss already ran away. Don't you value your lives?" They glanced at each then proceeded to scamper towards the forest on the right. Celeste took long deep breaths and cast a spell of her own. A fluid, bronze ray wifted around her then disappeared to thin air. It was a message to Marmon that if they ever crossed paths again, she wouldn't hesitate to kill him "Now what?" She asked herself glancing around. They had been traveling for almost an hour so Caspian's territory was a bit far from where they'd stopped. Even if it was near, did she really want to go back?
He had handed her over so easily which meant she was nothing to him. It wasn't as they'd had any kind of memorable interaction. Aside from prohibiting other male wolves from touching her and secretly stealing glances at her, there wasn't much to them. Why then had she expected anything from him? Who was she to him? And why was she feeling miserable at the thought of not seeing him again? Kicking one of the cars out of frustration, she set out to the opposite direction. If she followed those rogues, she might end up catching up with them and giving in to the urge to kill them.
She wasn't familiar with the place she was in. Even though her house had been isolated, it was still in the witch's territory. She had only ever ventured out once and Dalila had caught her then. Well, what was stopping her from exploring her surroundings? She was homeless again. It was a little past sundown. Maybe she would come across another nice pack that would welcome her or vampires. She came to a stop when something, or someone whizzed past her.
"If you try to bite me I'll bite back" she announced.
"You're trespassing" the vampire said circling her.
"Sorry, I didn't know I had crossed over to your territory. If you stop going around me like that, I'll leave"
A sarcastic laugh then, "That's not how it works you little witch" he finally stopped in front of her. Red glowing eyes assessing her "What...."
"Am I?" She finished for him "No idea. Let's just skip to the part where you demand something from me. What is it that you want?"
"For starters, I'd like you to come with me without resistance"
"Are you k********g me or something?"
"More or less"
"You do know I can take you out in the blink of an eye. Right?"
"I love your confidence" he told her in a low cultured voice "I think both of us will get along just fine"
"Awesome. My friend list is not yet full. I'm Celeste"
"And I'm Dannan"
The vampire king. Could her life get any more dramatic?

The bloodsuckers are here. I've already explained that the supernatural live in another world which means there are no humans in Celeste's world. So how do vampires survive without their usual snack? The idea I came up with is a bit absurd. Keep reading to find out.
