The beach resort

One week later, they went to the marriage office and registered their marriage. He took Mollie to a luxurious beach resort owned by the Smith family. This resort was in the most expensive place in the capital city. Mollie was very happy to come there. She never visited such resorts before. The room was made up of glass walls and through it, the deep blue water of the sea was clearly visible.

A crisp breeze hit her body the moment she opened the door to the balcony. She took a deep breath closing her eyes and spread her hands on both sides to welcome the fresh air. The place was serene and the sound of the waves hitting on the shore was audible loudly. The white sand particles were sparkling like millions of jewels under the shimmering sunlight. Seagulls were flying over the sea and their chirping could be heard from time to time, making the place more romantic. Mollie was overjoyed to see the majestic view and she was jumping up and down like a child. She turned to look at Elijah and said “Sir, it is so beautiful. I like this place so much. Thank you for bringing me here.”

Bruno was staring at her all the time and was delighted to see her so happy. The faint smile was never leaving his face. He rolled the wheels and went to the balcony. Holding her hands, he looked up at her lovingly and said “I am glad to hear that you like this place.”

Mollie blushed to meet his fervent gaze and turned around, pulling her hands back. Her cheeks were burning and she was feeling very nervous. This handsome man was her husband but she still couldn’t believe that she actually married him. It seemed like a fairytale.

Bruno was smiling wryly. Her flushed face was not hidden from him. She looked so adorable. He wanted to bite her red cheeks, but he had to wait until he recovered fully.

Just then, the doorbell rang and Mollie turned to go but Bruno stopped her, saying “I will check.”

He rolled the wheels and went to open the door. An attendant was standing outside the door and he greeted him slightly bowing his head “Good afternoon Mr. Smith.” He passed a packet to him and said again “Someone dropped this at the reception for you.”

Bruno hummed and took the packet. He thanked him before closing the door. His lips hooked up with a sly smile while looking at the packet. Last night he called the informer who told him that he had gathered information about Mr. Robinson. Bruno asked him to come to this resort and drop the evidence at the reception. Rolling the wheels, he went to the bedroom. He opened the packet and found a file and a pen drive. He studied the file flipping the pages, but he paused at certain information. He read the information again and again and a wicked smile appeared on his face. He muttered “So father and son don’t like each other… Interesting.”

He closed the file and kept it on the side table. He inserted the pen drive into his laptop. There was an audio recording and he clicked on the play button. A male voice came out of the recording who was confessing how he tampered with the engine of the private jet which led to the engine failure. Mr. Robinson asked him to do so and for that, he received a lot of money. Bruno ended the recording and stared at the screen in shock. How ruthless that man was! He killed his wife just for the property. That man had played many dirty tricks to get success, but now it was the time for punishment.

Bruno wouldn’t have bothered about Mr. Robinson’s life if he didn’t meddle with Mollie. Now that he offended Mollie, he would not leave him easily, would he? A villainous smirk appeared on his lips and he picked up his phone to dial Phillip’s number. The call connected quickly and before Phillip could respond, he summoned “Come to my room now.” He ended the call soon after he finished speaking.

A few minutes later, Phillip knocked on the door and Bruno opened it. He glanced at the balcony and saw Mollie still enjoying the view. He signaled Phillip to follow him and they went to the bedroom. Then he handed over the packet to Phillip and said “Send this to Mr. Robinson’s son as an unknown sender and keep a copy of these.”

Phillip looked down at the packet anxiously and asked “What is this?” He then looked at Elijah curiously.

“The proofs that will destroy Mr. Robinson.” The corner of his lips curled up with a sinister smile.

Phillip’s eyes grew wide in shock. He didn’t know when and how his boss gathered all this information. It had never happened before that his boss did something and he didn’t know about it. Elijah was becoming like a riddle to him. It seemed that his boss was not the same person that he used to know. He stared at him suspiciously without making a noise.

Bruno squinted his eyes and asked “What are you staring for? Go and do as I said.”

Phillip regained his senses and nodded immediately before he left the room. Once Phillip went out, Bruno rolled the wheels to go out of the bedroom when Mollie came inside hastily. Smiling brightly, she said, “I want to go out.”

He looked up at her and an amusement spread in his eyes. He smiled back and said “OK. Let’s go.”

Mollie clapped her hands and asked excitedly “Are you coming with me?”

“Why not?”

“Oh, that’s great.”

With that, she walked to him and pushed the wheelchair out of the room. On the way, Bruno informed Phillip that they were going out for a walk. They started roaming outside once they came out of the resort. The road was quiet with very few people who also came out for a walk. The sun was setting, tainting the sky with orange color. Few stars and a crescent moon were visible in the sky. A mild breeze was blowing which tousled her hair. She was pushing her hair behind her ears continuously. They had come a little far away from the resort and halted near a lake full of pink lilies. The area was deserted, though the view was breathtaking.

Mollie gasped and said, “Wow, it’s so beautiful.” She released the wheelchair and ran towards the lake.

Bruno was a little worried about her and he said “Be careful. You may hurt yourself.”

She exclaimed excitedly “Don’t worry, I won’t fall. I just want to have a closer look.”

Bruno was now perturbed. It was getting dark and if she fell into the water, then he won’t be able to help her. He saw her looking here and there for something. He asked, “What are you doing?” He was not feeling comfortable and regretted coming out without the bodyguards.

“I want to pluck the lilies.” She said without looking back.

His agitation increased a bit more and he rolled the wheels to go near her but suddenly his wheelchair has grabbed by someone from behind and tossed it down. Bruno fell to the ground hard with a loud thud sound. The wheelchair was lying beside him. He groaned in pain and looked up only to see a tall muscular man glaring at him. His face was covered by a black mask and only his pitch-black eyes were visible.

Hearing the clamor, Mollie turned her head and shrieked in fear to see the scene in front of her “Sir…”

Before Bruno could know anything properly, the man started kicking him on his stomach. He curled up into a ball to dodge the attack. Mollie came running there and started punching the man, but her punches were not affecting him at all. The man got irritated and he slapped her hard.

“Ah…”

Mollie whimpered and fell to the ground hard. The man slapped her so hard that her left cheek swelled up immediately and turned red.

Bruno shouted helplessly “Mollie…”

Gnashing his teeth, he slithered to her, but the man grasped his collar to lift him slightly and punched him hard on his face. Blood dripped down from the corner of his lips immediately. The man kicked him on his chest causing him to slide on the ground a few meters away.

“Stop… Don’t beat him.”

Mollie cried out loudly and tried to stand up, but the man punched on her stomach hard. Mollie squatted and groaned in pain.

On the other end, Bruno took out his phone from his pocket and dialed Phillip’s number stealthily. He saw that the call was connected and he sneakily put the phone in his shirt pocket. By then, the man grabbed his left leg so that he couldn’t move at all. Bruno turned his head to look at him and started asking “Who are you? What do you want? We come here to see the lilies in the lake. We have no enmity with you. Let us go.”

The man laughed loudly and said “Today you can’t escape from me. You both will die here and no one will come to rescue you.” With that, he kicked him again.

A shiver ran down through the spine when Phillip heard the conversation. He knew that lake full of lilies, so he didn’t delay a second to rush out of his room. He informed the bodyguards and they all dashed out of the resort quickly.

The man then took out a sharp knife from his back and Mollie’s eyes went wide to see this. She stood up instantly and rushed to Elijah. She saw the man attacking Elijah with the knife. Bruno held the man’s wrist blocking his attack but the man kicked him on the stomach again. He gasped and his hold on his wrist loosened. Just then, the man stabbed him but the attack was shielded by Mollie and the knife landed on her shoulder blade. Blood oozed out from the wound instantly and her breathing hitched up. Few drops of tears rolled down from her eyes, while Bruno’s eyes went wide in horror, mouth agape.
