Interesting observation. Atticus never showed up for breakfast or lunch or any of the meals at the dining room. I made a mental note to ask Roberto about it later. It would have been more relieving to be able serve him along with the others. I dreaded being in the same room as him. Was it even possible to dread and want somebody at the same time?
I hated that I thought about him more often than I should. Flashes of his cold grey eyes looking down at me became recurrent.
“Hey bald head. Glass refill?” Caden glared at me expectantly. I snapped back to present and hurried to refill the his glass.
“The food isn’t seasoned properly. It tastes almost bland” Thomas raised an eye brow.
It was very obvious that I wasn’t the one that prepared the meal. But ‘oh yes. Its Gina so we can blame her. Let’s blame Gina for everything that goes wrong’
“My apologies” I murmured. Princess Rosa simply beamed at me. She was the only one who didn’t really give me a headache.
She was kind and polite to me even when she didn’t have to be and her radiant smile was enough to make you forget where you are. Her beauty was the kind that was loud. The one that screamed for attention when you walked into the room and her lush long blonde hair, made me miss mine.
Damon did nothing but scoff when I returned Rosa’s smile. The rest continued to throw taunts at me for being incompetent. I ignored it and said nothing. The empty plates and glasses were left for me to dispose of. As usual, I headed into the kitchen to take care of the pile of dishes and used bowls that were waiting for me on the counter.
And after I was done. I was dismissed so that I could get ready for the academy. Walking along the pavement slowly. I sighed and paused as the brothers drove by without stopping.
I expected it. I had packed a lighter bag pack this so it would be easy for me to walk without difficulty.
I walked for a bit but then paused in confusion as Damon’s convertible reversed back. We exchanged stares. I didn’t want to be too quick to assume.
“Are you going to get in or not?”
A minute of hesitation passed with him glaring at me with irritation before I decided to hop into the convertible. Damon stone was really giving me a ride to school. Inside. I was squealing. I tried to maintain a passive expression but it felt good. To have the breeze blowing through my hair and to admire the serene view and passing trees. I even enjoyed the music that blasted from his speakers. Not that I was going to tell him anyways.
I reminded not to get used to it. Maybe he was in a good mood today. Maybe it was the moon goddess way of smiling down at me. Still that didn’t mean I was going to allow myself get used to it.
Finally, we arrived school and students stared at us from the parking lot. In the academy, your business was every person’s business. It was irritating.
I quietly thanked Damon for the ride and of course, he ignored me. We were back to pretending that I didn’t exist. Not that he acknowledged during the ride anyways.
The first stop was at the Dean office. I pleaded to have my classes changed. Any class that didn’t have Irina or the stone brothers in them. Mr. Thorn apologized and said there was nothing that could be done. These were the Stone brothers. Of course Mr Thorn would be reluctant to take action against them. They were royalty.
I brought up the incident of my books being destroyed by Irina and her pack of brain dead bimbos. All I was going to get was having my locker cleaned up and new sets of books while Irina goes away scot free without disciplinary action.
Storming out of Mr. Thorn’s office after I had grumbled a thank you. I headed into my first class. Surprisingly Irina wasn’t occupying my seat as I expected she would. She sat down beside Damon. Flaunting a smirk at him while she ran a hand up and down his arm. He returned it.
Turning my gaze away. My eyes abruptly met Caden and I shivered from the way he glared at me. It wasn’t news that I wasn’t on his good books too. Thomas facial expression remained impassive.
Settling into my chair, I brought out the only note book that I had left.
In the middle of the lecture, the teacher paused as Atticus strolled in casually. The way he carried him himself with so much poise and elegance and sapped all the energy in the room along with him, was enough to leave me breathless. He always wore black without a touch of color and yet the color wouldn’t have looked better on any other person. It was made just for him.
His gaze caught mine across the classroom. For a moment, I thought he was going to shoot me a glare that would be full of nothing but venom. His face remained expressionless as he sauntered over to me and settled down beside me. I could hear the girls at the back gasp and I could feel the glares piercing into the back of my head.
I silently released the breath I didn’t even know I was holding. The lecturer finally continue after Atticus had settled into his seat. My attention was caught between me pretending to jot in my note book and between stealing glances at him. Who was I kidding? I was nervous when I was around him.
After some time, I flinched at the strong grip that I felt on my thigh.
“You should take a picture Stewart. It would last longer” his lips tilted up in a cold smile. My brows raised in surprise. So he did know my name.
Feeling my cheeks stinging with embarrassment, I swallowed nervously and turned to face the teacher.
I was able to concentrate during the remainder of the period. I could smell him all the way from here. Did he know that my core throbbed helplessly and my n*****s were pebbles between my shirt? He seemed to have an effortless way of making my body crave him.
Finally the bell rang and I hurried grabbed my note book and headed through the door. My nerves were racing and I tried to steady my breathing and willed my body to calm down.
At the cafeteria, as I approached a nearby table. Everyone sitting there vacated their seats at the sight of me approaching. Rolling my eyes, I sat at the empty table. Half way into my lunch. Irina breezed into the bench opposite me. I groaned my distaste. She just had to be every where, all the damn time to spite me. Her pack of minions stood behind her not bothering to hide their disdain. They followed her everywhere.
You’d almost think that they didn’t have brains of their own.
“What’s your deal with the stone brothers?”
Glaring at her, I remained silent. Casually biting into my burger.
“Heard you were thier maid. Of course. How could you be anything else. You must be used to begging for left overs”
Breathe Gina. Breathe. Don’t let her get a reaction out of you. Don’t give her what’s she’s looking for. I clenched my fists under the table and yet I said nothing. My eyes quickly scanned the cafeteria and I could see the stone brothers having lunch and laughing amongst themselves. Atticus as usual was no where to be seen. I’m starting to believe that he hated people generally.
“Stay away from them “ she bared her teeth in a sneer. It didn’t make her look so attractive. I found it amusing.
“Its nice to know that you see me as competition” I smiled at her. She scoffed as she gave me a once over.
“Oh please. Look into the mirror before you repeat that again” she growled as she finally stood up to leave.

The walk back to the castle was not strenuous as I thought it would be. The sun had gone down and it was more breezy than hot. The stone brothers had again, drove past me with Caden flipping me the finger this time and Thomas looking at me like I was garbage. Atticus stared straight ahead like I had blended in with the air and Damon smirked at me as the girl in the passenger kept groping him shamelessly. I was glad he didn’t stop. There was no way I would have been comfortable plus judging from the way the girl glanced at me, she didn’t want company.
After an hour, I arrived at the Castle. Quickly changed into my uniforms and headed to the kitchen start work. I could hear the loud music booming from the distance and was it weird that I was seeing people from school running down the hall way?
The kitchen was busier than usual and when I asked Roberto about it, He said the boys invited guests. He demanded that I served the drinks and I couldn’t argue.
It was tiring trying to serve drinks to teenage couples who were making out or teenagers too drunk to process anything. Some even took the liberty of spilling their drinks at me. I wondered how the boys were able to make this party happen in short amount of time. But of course who would want to decline the stone brothers invitation.
People wanted to be them or to be with them and they wouldn’t pass out on an opportunity to be in the same space as royals.
“Its so nice to see you in your natural element, Bald head Gina” people made fun of my maid uniform as I tried to keep up with serving them.
Half naked girls ran around, squealing and being chased by boys who definitely had intentions of making advances. The whole place was a whole mess. And in the distance as I watched Damon make out with the girl from the car. I had no explanation for the tears that stung my eyes.
