ANDI
Run!
I told myself as I was gasping for air. I need to run as fast as I can.
Why is he doing this? Where did I go wrong? Why is he trying to kill me?
Those are the questions that keep on lingering in my mind as I continue to run barefoot in the endless hallway. No matter how hard I tried to get away from that place, it seems like I'm not getting anywhere near the door.
My heart almost leaps out of my chest when a strong hand abruptly grabs my arm. "Where do you think you're going?" Marco said.
My hand trembled in fear when I saw the evil look in his eyes. "Do you think you can get away from me?" he said before a nerve-wracking smirk spread on his lips. "No one gets away from me. You're going to die just like those women before you." He quickly wrapped his hands around my neck and started wringing my neck.
"I-I c-can't b-breathe—" I said as I struggled to remove his hands that were heavily squeezing my neck. "M-Marco, s-stop...I-It's me..." I tried to catch my breath as he continued to choke me to death. I keep on pleading with him to stop. This is not the Marco that I used to know. Who is this man? Why is he trying to kill me?
"You really think that I could love a commoner like you? I never loved you, Andi. Never was and never will," he firmly said while grinding his teeth. It was as if loving me was the most disgusting thing he could ever think of. "I just used you so I could remove the pest that was lingering around my castle. Now that you have no use for me, I can kill you as I did with my previous wife," he said.
The hallway was filled with nothing but the sound of his laughter seeping through my soul. I can't believe I fell for this man. The man that I cherish the most. The same man that was trying to take my breath away, literally.
I gathered all my strength and all the defense technique that I could think of so that I could get away from his grasp. I was well trained in hand-to-hand combat, but so was he. When I peak into a tiny chance of defeating him, I didn't hesitate. I hold his arms tightly, and with all my strength, I used my knee and smashed it in between his legs.
He started writhing in pain. He withdraws his hands around my neck and quickly grabbed his groin that was severely injured.
I immediately took that chance and tried to run away from him as fast as possible.
"Andi!" he called my name while he was screaming in pain. "I will kill you!"
I need to get away from here! I said to myself while tirelessly running away from him. My heart was filled with relief when I saw the light coming from the door.
Finally! I'm safe! But no matter how I try to run as fast I could, the door seems to be out of reach. It feels like the more I tried to run faster, the faster it moved away from me. But I didn't lose faith. I can't die here, not this way.
I reached out my hand to grab the door but just when I was about to do that, someone grabbed me from behind and pinned my back against the door.
"I told you, you can't get away from me," he whispered against my ear before plugging the knife right into my heart.
"M-Marco..." I called his name before blood started coming out of my mouth. "W-Why?" It's the only thing that I could say to him.
Instead of answering, he gave me a terrifying smile before I finally took my last breath.
