He has a sister?

Knock knock It was 10am and there was a knock at the door. I opened my eyes slowly, forgetting where I was. There was another knock and I jumped up, shaking Liam awake in panic. “Liam, someone’s knocking at the door” I whispered. He awoke, startled and pointed to the bed. “Get underneath quick!” He replied and shouted to the person on the other side of his door. “Just a second!”. I scurried under the bed and reached out to grab my clothes from his floor. “Liam? What’s going on in there?” Mark called out. “Come in” Liam yelled and his dad entered. I watched his feet step into the room and stop. “It’s 10am mate, I need you get dressed so that you can help me grab some supplies from the store” he said gently. “Why do I need to come?” “Your sister is coming today, remember?” He reminded him and I scrunched my face in confusion. His sister! He never told me about his sister. “I’ve got a lot of things I need to get and could do with a hand” he repeated and Liam sighed. “Okay, I’ll get up now and jump in the shower” he assured him and Mark left the room. I sneaked back out from under the bed and giggled. “Well that was close” he admitted and I continued to chuckle. “You never told me you had a sister!”  “It never came up in conversation” he explained. I smiled at him and headed off to my room. I remembered the events from last night that unfolded with Liam. The way he made me feel so good and the technique he used. He was amazing and I couldn’t get it out of my head. I wanted to do it again and again.  My door swung open and my mum walked in holding a pile of clean clothes, oblivious to me sitting there. “Oh my god!” She yelled. “Mum!” I replied and she dropped the washing. Liam ran in wearing a towel when he heard the commotion. “Everything okay?” He asked looking concerned. It was as if he thought she was suspicious and I’m guessing he assumed we were arguing by the expression on his face.  “I didn’t know you were back! I was going to come and get you” she exclaimed and I couldn’t think of an excuse to tell her.  “I went and got her last night” Liam intruded. My mum turned around and looked at him, slightly concerned and confused. “Why did you do that?” “She had an argument with Jodie and rang me last night, hoping I was awake. She knew that you would worry so I went and got her” he lied.  “Is this true?” My mum asked turning her attention to me. I nodded and she loosened her expression.  “Okay, well next time at least let me know that you are home. I could have driven all the way to Jodie’s house and panicked when I find you weren’t there” she lectured and I apologised. She picked up the clothes and put them on the bed before walking out. I gazed at Liam who was smirking at me. “Thanks” I said and she he grinned. “Don’t mention it”. I had rang Jodie and explained everything that had happened last night. The reason I had left, what Dylan did and what happened when I got home. Of course she squealed down the phone when she found out about my sleeping arrangement and bragged about how she was right all along. I told her to tell her mum the same lie that Liam had told to her mum so that our stories were the same. She didn’t refuse and gladly had my back.  Liam had left with his dad to pick up a few things from the shop which left me and my mum in the kitchen, making dinner for when she arrived. “So where does his sister live?” I questioned mum to find out more information. “She lives in her mums house with her boyfriend. Her mum is in a nursing home due to her illness” “Illness!” I repeated in shock and my mum nodded. “I’m not quite sure what the illness is but I know that she struggles to take care of herself so Mark had to make a difficult decision to put her in a home to be looked after. They had broken up prior to her illness being diagnosed and he didn’t want the kids to have to deal with her care” she explained. It started to make sense why Liam had acted so aggressively to his dad making decisions for him. He must still be bitter about what had happened in the past and blame his dad for his decision making. “How old is Liam’s sister?” I asked and she sighed. “She’s your age and if I’m honest, I worry about how she will end up. She has to look after her mother’s house by herself and I feel she’s needing to grow up to quickly”. Mum peeled at the potatoes by the sink and didn’t turn to me as she expressed her concern. “I wouldn’t like that to happen to you. You should be having fun at your age, not worrying having to worry about bills and housework”. I bit the inside of my mouth as I fell deep into thought about the stresses that poor girl had to go through. I don’t understand why his sister took over the house and not him. He was older than her and therefore he had more right to it than she did. A lot of things didn’t really add up but I didn’t want to push mum for information incase she starts getting suspicious. Door bell chimes  Me and mum looked at each other, slightly startled at how early she was. The boys weren’t back yet and she was already here! My mum wiped her hands on her apron and walked over to me. “Elle, I need you to distract her, take her to your room for a chat or something, just keep her occupied whilst I call Mark and find out where they are. The last thing we need is for her to feel uncomfortable around us and decide to leave before they get back” she planned and I nodded to her. I didn’t really feel overly enthusiastic about talking to her, I didn’t even know her name let alone anything she likes.  Mum opened the door and said “hello Gemma! You’re early”. Gemma smiled and stepped through the door.  “Sorry, I should have called but Cameron had to work in the end so I thought, there was no point just sitting around waiting to leave”. She was gorgeous, she was the spitting image of Liam but of course, extremely feminine. Her eyes were slightly lighter than Liam’s but she had dark wavy hair, dark features and was a bit taller than me. Her body was petite and slim and she was wearing a casual t-shirt with black leggings.  “Oh there’s no need to apologise, this is my daughter Elise” she introduced and I put my hand out to shake hers. “I prefer to be called Elle” I smiled and she greeted my hand shake with a hug. My mum smiled at her willingness to accept strangers.  “Well I was just in the middle of sorting our dinner out, so if you and Elle don’t mind maybe going and getting to know each other and hopefully the guys will be back soon”. Gemma smiled at my mum then turned to me and put her palm out in front of her. “Please, lead the way” she politely said. I walked her down to my room and sat on my bed. She entered the room and looked around in awe.  “Wow, I love what you did with the spare room, really made it your own!” She said looking at the positioning of the furniture and hand drawn pictures on the wall.  “Did you do these?” She asked and I nodded. She seemed really impressed by my art work and it was really sweet for her notice them.  “They’re amazing” she complimented and then sat down on the end of the bed. “So hows my bother? Behaving I hope...”
