Chapter 44

Summer’s heat was beginning to wind down, and it was getting cooler as the days passed. Wing sighed as he stared at everyone as they all lounged around Blue and Warren’s home, as what Blue had suggested sunk in. Micah frowned as he cradled Keros in his arms. “I see where you’re coming from, but what if someone’s secret is the first secret and by saying it, we trigger it?” Alexander nodded, “yeah, what he said.” “It says the first secret escapes. Meaning it’s being held inside. But we'll release it if we all air out our dirty laundry. So, it might not. So,” they said, settling down on the window sill as they stared at everyone. “Who wants to go first?” “On the promise that we won’t have our asses handed to us,” Rosalyn said, her eyes narrowing on her grandfather, who glared. “Oh, what did you do?” he snapped, running a hand down his face. Wing had always found it fascinating that, despite being a great-grandfather at this point, Warren did not look older than his mid-forties at the maximum. He had always chopped it up to werewolf blood, but it was weird. “Uh uh,” Rosalyn said, smirking. “Promise you won’t throw your shoe at us.” “Fine. I promise. What did you do?” “Okay, so remember when you visited Nibi, and Dad and his ex-wife went on a weekend getaway, and we were trusted to be left home alone?” “Rosa, no!” Jem hissed. “We said we would take that to the grave.” “I agree with Jem; let’s not,” Alexander muttered. She shrugged. “We gotta air it all out, including this. So, we may or may not have had a party.” Jem groaned. “That ended up in us breaking your office window; someone threw up in that vase. Dad liked it, and I was the one who destroyed that cabinet full of costly things you liked. Also, while we’re at it, Sen f****d Samantha in Dad’s bed, and Alexander thought he was in his bedroom and screwed Michelle on her bed. Oh, and, and we did gaslight you into thinking the storage room was that disgusting orange shade, and when you came back the next day, it was white again; that was also us. Sorry?” As the room laced into silence, Slaine burst out laughing. “All of that in one night?” Warren groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I knew I wasn’t crazy about that stupid orange room.” “My vase, oh, how I miss that vase every day,” Maddox whined. “Oh, that’s not fair, Dad,” Will whined. “You did all that and didn’t get into trouble, but I stayed up to play my video games, and I’m grounded.” “Exactly,” Micah deadpanned. “Your father’s not the best influence; if you follow in his footsteps, you’re grounded for life.” Will looked like he was about to say something, but when Micah glared at him, he decided not to. “Okay, that was something,” Blue said, running a hand through their hair. “But not earth destroying. Next.” “Do I have to go too?” Levi asked, and Wing started at the man. “No. You shut up and don’t speak,” Jasper snapped. “Blue, we did take most of your cutlery,” he added, shrugging. “I knew it,” they snapped. “Jem, we also screwed on your bed,” Jasper deadpanned, and Jem looked at him in disgust. “At my house?!” “Nah, the old house.” “Jasper, what the f**k man?” “Nothing is happening.” “I knew Levi was lying to Slaine,” Elizabeth said as she stared at the ground. “He told me he would have Slaine fall in love with him to guarantee they would get out of it alive. I’m sorry. I also knew he had been with my brother these past years, just a couple of hours away. And Rosa, I ate all your cookies.” “I f*****g knew it,” Rosalyn snapped, glaring at her. “Those were my favourite.” “I don’t care,” Slaine said, and all eyes landed on him. “What? I don’t. I’ve had them off for years. I really don’t care about it.” “There’s so many of us,” Wing said. “I don’t think we have enough time to sit around the room waiting for everyone to tell us their deepest, darkest secrets.” “Well, then, what do you suggest?” Micah asked. “Well, Chaos is a deity. Maybe they know what the f**k is going on.” All eyes landed on Chaos, standing beside Slaine; even Slaine turned to look at them. “Well?” he asked. “I am sorry, I cannot be of much help. It took a lot of bartering for me even to come down, and one of the rules handed to me was that I could not intervene in any affairs relating to the children.” “This isn’t related to the children,” Grey said, “it’s related to us.” “And you, even if you are Entia, are still considered the children of the gods. I am not allowed to intervene. I may be able to help in the future, but by helping understand the prophecies, that is out of my jurisdiction.” “So, we’re all screwed?” Jasper said after a moment. Blue frowned. “No, I’m sure we have time. After all, this is only the third one; we have two more left. And then we also have the rise and fall one. If we can figure out who the everlasting father is, we won’t need to worry about others. But we should work on it if things don’t go our way.” “They will go our way, though, right?” Wing asked, and when no one replied, he got his answer. Oh, they were so f*****g screwed. ~*~
