Today’s lesson is more practice than anything else. In the past few years we’ve trained ourselves in the basics of many different martial arts. How is that going to help us fight untouchable creatures that suck our souls to survive? It won’t. But it helps to be in good physical condition when you need to run from them. After our warmup, we do some basic stretches. Our teacher, Mr. Johnson, encourages us to give our hundred percent at the beginning of our lesson. He hates to escort clumsy students, who hurt themselves, to the school nurse. We then practice some kicks and punches with our punching bags. I already think it’s all we’re going to do today, because a lot of time passes and we’re still not getting into pairs. But then, I finally hear the words I’m waiting for. “Alright, class!
