Chapter 21 surprising news

A WEEK AND HALF LATER

MIA'S POV

The past week and half has flew by. I had lunch with Daniel last Thursday it went alright. Was a little awarkard at first but we ended up laughing come the end of lunch. Friday morning I found him in the staffroom with a coffee ready for me before work started.

Then Friday I had lunch with Leah, she was telling me about a new promotion she was trailing at the coffee shop, as well as saying how much Daniel missed me and begged me to give him enougher chance soon because she really does see me as a sister in law and doesn't want any other women taking that place. I couldn't help but laugh at that.

On Saturday I had lunch with sue, she disnt try convincing me to give Daniel enougher chance thankfully, we just enjoyed having each others company. It's nice as Sue reminds me of how me and my mum use to get along, although she isn't my mum it was nice to spend time with someone like I would with my own mum.

The past few days I've started to feel tired more, and I haven't felt 100% I'm not sure what's wrong. I maybe should see a doctor if it continues.

I'm currently walking into work and feel light headed. As I wait for the lift I put my hand on the wall to steady myself. I'm starting to feel really hot and slightly dizzy

I hear Daniel ask "if I'm okay"

"Daniel I don't fee"

DANIELS POV

I walk into the lobby and see Mia near the lifts holding onto the wall, she looks really pale. I hurry over and ask" if she is okay. "

I hear her say Daniel" I don't fe" as she starts to fall. Lucky enough I managed to catch her in my arms before she hit the floor.

"Mia what's wrong, Mia wake up" I say.

I decided I'm taking Mia to the hospital its not the first time she has fainted. As I'm walking out the lobby Mia stirs in my arms.

"Mia are you okay?" I ask

"I just felt lightheaded and then dizzy what happened?" Mia asks

"You fainted again. I'm taking you to the hospital no arguements" I say.

"Okay, I haven't felt great the past few days. I don't know what's wrong so I won't argue" she says closing her eyes again.

"What's been wrong?" I ask worried as we reach my car.

"I don't know I just haven't felt right and more tired than usual." Mia mumbles

I put Mia into the car before getting in myself.

I put the heating not wanting Mia to be cold.

"Please turn it off! I feel to hot open a window instead" Mia says.

I do as Mia asks.

"Just rest, while I drive you to the hospital okay?" I say

"Thanks" Mia replys then closes her eyes.

15 minutes later I've parked at the hospital and I help Mia walk in.

"You don't have to stay with me, you can go back to work I will be fine" Mia says.

"No I'm staying with you until I know your okay no arguements. If it wasn't for me catching you, you would of hit the floor by the lifts." I say

I didn't care I had a meeting about to start, Mia is my only concern right now and I'm not leaving her alone. Not for a second I think to myself.

I get Mia sat on a chair and then book her in.

Half a hour later we go through to see a doctor after Mia saw triage. Her blood pressure is a little up that's all we know for now.

The doctor comes in and Mia explains what happened. I add in saying "she fainted around 5 weeks ago due to stress and lack of sleep."

"Yeah but I've been getting more sleep the past week, I've felt more tired so I don't think it's the sleep" says Mia.

"Any chance you could be pregnant?" the doctor asks.

"No! I'm on the implant and since it's gone in I have periods every 3-4 months" she says going a little red in the face.

"Okay, well we will do some routine tests. Might just be blood pressure but I want to rule some other things out." The doctor says.

The doctor has some bloods done and gets Mia to do a urine sample.

"Mia would you like me to get you anything to drink or eat while we wait for the test results?" I ask

"Just some water please, but you don't have to wait with me" she says.

"No I said I'm staying and I will once I've got you done water." I say

"Okay thankyou" she says laying down again.

"Do you still feel dizzy?" I ask.

"No just a little sick where I feel a little light headed again." Mia says

"Okay well don't move from the bed I will be back soon." I say

MIA'S POV

I hope it's nothing serious, I can't belive I fainted again, and Daniel caught me again. I don't even have the strength to argue with him about going back to work. If anything it's actually nice to have some company while in the hospital. But I feel bad he is missing work because of me.

"Hey here's your water." Daniel says distracting Mr from my thoughts.

"Thanks" I say trying to give a genuine smile, but I feel tired and ill this morning.

"Your not to come back to work until you feel better again." Daniel says and I can't help but mentally laugh after just thinking he would say that.

"I can't keep taking time of work Daniel people will start to talk and I can't be getting special treatment, before long people will be demanding I get sacked for barely being at work" I say.

"You fainted in the work building for christsake no one is firing you! I mean it Mia your to rest" he says to me with a seriously worried face.

"Why don't you see if your mum can come sit with me, that way I won't feel bad about you missing work because of me" I say.

"No Mia, it's fine I have no meetings today I'd rather make sure your okay myself. Please don't send me away I'm really worried about you" he says.

"Okay you stay" I say.

"Thankyou" he replys.

"Daniel what do think could cause my blood pressure to be up?" I ask

"Probably stress with everything going on lately, which is why you should rest and Don't worry your be fine." Daniel says

"I hope so, to be honest I slept most of last night but I struggled to get up for work this morning. I even drove to work." I say.

"You drove to work feeling ill?" Daniel says

"I didn't feel light headed until I was walking towards the lift, otherwise I wouldn't of driven! I'm not that stupid" I say.

"I didn't say your stupid, I just know you usually walk. In future if you don't feel great call me I will pick you up! I don't want you falling ill while driving. Okay? Daniel says with a serious look.

" Okay, I'm to tired to argue with you." I say

" Good cause you wouldnt win against me anyway sweetheart" he says.

"How long do you think the tests will take?" I ask.

"I have no idea just rest, sleep if need be. I will stay here with you" he say.

I close my eyes but don't sleep.

I finally hear the doctor coming back 45 minutes later.

"Mia how are you feeling now?" She asks

"Just a little tired still otherwise I'm okay" I say.

"Mia did you say you have the implant in?" The doctor asks

"Yes, it's been in a few years not due out yet why?"

"Well, I'm sorry to say this but it needs to come out." She says

"Why what's wrong?" I ask.

"Is it okay to tell you what's wrong with your friend here?" she asks.

"Yes, please just tell me! I'm worried now" I say

"Well, I'm sorry to tell you but the implant failed to stop you getting pregnant" She says

"What" I shout.

"Did you say pregnant?" asked Daniel

"Yes, when was the last time you has a period?" she asked

"around 4 months ago, I figured I'd be on again anytime soon since there roughly every 3-4 months." I say

"Okay, so going by the blood tests I'd says your around 4 weeks roughly pregnant" she says

Well that's makes sense I think working out roughly when me and Daniel slept together, was around 4-5 weeks back.

"Are you sure I'm pregnant?" I say

"100% I'm sorry." The doctor says

"How could this happen?" asks Daniel.

"Well it can sometimes happen no matter what what way you choose to try prevent a pregnancy. All have that slim chance of failing. Mia here just happened to be unlucky. Mia you should book a doctors appointment and you still have time to decide what you want to do. But no matter what you need to have your blood pressure checked. Get a midwifes appointment booked as well if you decide to keep the baby and defiantly have the implant taken out no matter what you choose. Your doctor can go through all your options with you." The doctor says.

"Wait what do you mean all the options! Mia please tell me you won't get rid of my baby" Daniel says.

"Daniel I've barely had time to process this myself, but I can tell you right now that's not a option for me no matter what happens next I could next abort any child I fall pregnant with! I don't know what you take me for!" I say.

"Okay! I'm sorry" he says taking my hand.

"Can I go home now please doctor?" I ask.

"Yes get a doctors appointment and a midwife appointment, I want your blood pressure checked again Friday, get some rest and don't over do things. I'd also recommend folic acid to take now you know your pregnant" she says.

"Thankyou" I say.

"Don't worry I will look after her doc" Daniel says as the doctor leaves the room.

I start to get my stuff together.

"Daniel i didn't plan this, I honestly didn't think I'd get pregnant. I'm sorry about this. Don't worry I don't expect anything of you, I don't want your money or anything I can work my pregnancy if you don't want to be apart of the baby's life" I say.

DANIELS POV

I couldn't believe Mia was pregnant. I could see she was as shocked as I was. I was so glad Mia said she didn't believe in abortions like me. I know we both didn't expect this but I already decided I'm gonna win Mia back and be family with her no matter what.

Then Mia starts giving me a speech saying she is sorry and can do it alone if need be she doesn't expect anything from me hell no i thought.

"Mia please stop, I'm not letting you do this alone. I know you didn't plan this even the doctor said it was a simply bad luck thing with the implant. I would never hold it against you. But please I want to be there for both of you. please let me be there and prove to you, I will do anything for both of you. Now you ain't working and struggling to provide for our baby. If you want to work you can I won't stop you, but you will also rest and make sure your both okay! because I will look after you both is that okay?" I say.

" Okay" she says while starting to cry.

"Why are you crying?" I ask pulling Mia into my arms and rubbing her back.

"I don't know, I'm worried and I was worried you would be angry with me as well." Mia says.

"I'm not angry with you, come on I'm taking you back with me you can rest at mine and I will look after you today. You still look pale and we can talk is that okay?" I say.

"Yes, Daniel could we not tell anyone just yet? I need time for this to sink in for a few days first" she says while wiping her tears away.

"Of course, whatever you want come on let's go" I say.

While we walked back out to the car u+i made sure to stay close to Mia incase she fainted again. When we were in the car she rang her doctors surgery to book an appointment with the gp and midwife explaining everything that happened at the hospital.

After Mia got off the phone she said she had doctors Friday 11:10am to have the implant out and check her blood pressure. As well as set a midwife appointment for next Tuesday at 2:00pm to check blood pressure while having the booking/meet and greet midwife appointment.

"Can I come with you to both? *I asked.

" Do you not have meetings?" Mia asks.

"Tuesday I do but I don't want to miss the midwife appointment, I want to be at everyone one so I can rearrange the meeting don't worry about that" I say.

"Okay you can come" she says.

I pull up to a chemist.

"Daniel why have we stopped?" Mia asks me.

"I'm going to buy the folic acid tablets the doctor said for you to take." I say.

"Oh I can go in and get them" Mia says.

I cut Mia off saying "no you stay here and rest I won't be long okay?"

"Okay" she says.

When I get back to the car Mia has fallen asleep.

I can't help smiling, I know me and Mia haven't been on best terms lately but I know I've fallen in love with Mia. And now Mia is carry my baby, I couldn't be happier I'm going to be a dad. We having a baby. It makes me even more determined to make Mia fall in love with me and to want me again. No matter what I'm going to have my family. I tell myself in my head firmly.

As I drive back to my penthouse I can't help but wonder if we will have a boy or girl. I wonder what our baby will look like.

As we arrive I can't bring myself to wake Mia so I carrying her in my arms.

Mia stirs as we are in the lift.

"Hey how are you feeling sweetheart?" I ask.

"I'm sorry, I feel asleep I can walk though" Mia says.

"Its okay, we nearly indoors I will put you on the sofa in a minute" I say.

Mia doesn't argue and just rests her head against my chest.

I was secretly glad because it meant we were close for a few seconds longer.

"Would you like something to eat or drink?" I ask as I lay Mia on the sofa.

"Just some water please." Mia says.

"Then one water coming right up" I say heading for the kitchen.
