Friend or Foe?

~ Months in advance ~

Kana’s POV

“Kaden let's go, we will be late.” I say to Kaden 

He always takes his time whenever we go anywhere.

“Almost done mom, let me finish my tie.” he says back to me 

“What a handsome young boy.” I say to him 

“Thanks mom.” he says to me and gives me a kiss on the cheek

My son is barely 3 years old now and he acts like a mature adult. How did he get this way? He is so intelligent for his age. He will be a good ruler if he chooses to when he grows up or even now. Kaden has already excelled in studies and can speak a different language. I wonder what awaits him later in his life. I do hope that no one treats him differently for who he is and what he is mixed with. That has always been my fear for him. 

“Son are you ready now?” I ask him 

“Yes mom lets go.” he says back to me as we teleport to our other castle 

“Hi grandpa Stephen.” Kaden says to dad

“Hi dad.” I say to him as we enter the dinning hall and get seated. 

“Hi daughter and grandson. Kaden you are growing taller by the day.” he says to Kaden 

“Of course I am. I am a maturing boy I will outgrow mom soon too.” he says back to dad 

We say hi to everyone and I start walking to my chair when I see someone seated there.

“Oh I am sorry I usually sit there so I can move.” I say to her as she stays seated on my  chair 

She must not know so I will just move instead. 

“No this is your seat Kana come sit. Sophia please move to a different seat. This is where the Queen sits.” Jeremiah says to the lady 

“I apologize I just sat on any random seat. Please excuse me.” she says to me and bows and moves to a different seat 

“That is my seat.” Kaden says to her 

I feel bad she doesn’t know. I give a look to Jace and he finally catches on to the awkwardness. 

“Sophia can sit next to Joshua.” Jace says and points in his direction 

Joshua gives an annoyed look and I scowl at him from the distance as he turns his head away from me not trying to give me eye contact. Can this dinner get any awkward? 

“King Jace, a few of the people would like a word with you.” Kyle says to Jace 

I look at Jace’s reaction and I know he is hiding something from me.

“Ah of course. I will be right back” he says to everyone and excuses himself 

“I will excuse myself as well.” I say to them all 

“Why don’t we get started on eating Kana and just let Jace go?” Dad asks me 

“Oh? When has me leaving early stopped us before?” I ask all of them darting my eyes toward them 

No eye contact from anyone besides that lady glaring at me. Oh hell no! Wait wait I must be nice. I will find out who she is before I assume things. Right now I need to catch up with Jace. I look everywhere and I can’t find him. For now he will get away with it, but next time I will put a tracker on him! I walk back into the dinning hall fuming and see all of them smirking. I throw little electric flames to all of them except for dad as I hear them all wince. 

“Rude much?” the lady says to me 

“How so? I’ve played around with them like this for years. Why would I change the tone now?” I ask her 

“These are our princes of my kingdom some respect will do.” she says to me 

Oh no she didn’t!

“Then who are you?” John asks 

“Well an honored guest, but that is only my opinion.” she says to John 

“Yes only your opinion, which has no say at this table or in this kingdom. She might not be a vampire, but that amulet shows who is queen here. I will allow this once since you are ruled under a different country, but the next time you use your filthy mouth to badmouth our queen, I will kill you myself.” says John 

“I apologize. I spoke out of tongue instead of thinking about what I said.” she says to me 

“It’s fine for now, but do know that she is family and we think of her as a sibling like any of my other brothers. Always keep that in mind here.” says Jared

“Yes of course.” she says back to them and nods 

“Kana this is Sophia Lay. She is a Russian model here on business. We have invited her for dinner since she has helped us with a few tasks and thought it would be fine that she joined us for dinner.” Jared says to me 

“Now I am thinking it was a bad choice.” Jake says back to us 

“No no it’s fine let's eat.” I say to them trying to get this awkward feeling out of here 

I can see all of my brothers fuming right now and dad drinking a lot of wine. Looks like this mood here won’t get any better. The whole entire dinner was quiet except when Kaden talked. He sure knew how to change the mood and had everyone smiling at the end. Thank goodness for him. If it wasn’t for him we would not say anything at all during the dinner. 

As I listen to everyone talk I see Sophia staring at me every once in a while. I wonder why? And who is she? We don’t usually have guests join us for dinner unless they are counsel family or someone really important. Is she that someone who will be important to us soon? Will she be here longer? And what did they need her for? How much do I not know? 

“Don’t worry Kana. You will never be replaced.” dad say to me 

“I never once thought that.” I say back to him 

“I know,  but I am just reassuring you so that you know.” dad says back to me 

“Understood dad, thanks.” I say back to him
