Breaking My Mate Chapter 6 Ms Keaton I felt bad for doing this to Misty, she's really a sweet girl but the people who were after me would kill me. My husband didn't steal the money I did. I had a terrible gambling problem and got into debt with the wrong people. I came home one day to find my husband dead with a note beside him saying times up. I didn't have time to grab anything I just ran. There's no where to hide from these guys, he had family and friends everywhere in high places. I just hope that this will be enough money to pay them off. Kevin I shouldn't have yelled at her but I was pissed off. She has no right to question me, I ask all of the questions. Monica is sour subject for me. She was my mate and rejected me for my brother. She was bat shït crazy but I still loved her, I couldn't help it. I try to be nice to Misty. I know she's nothing like Monica but there's always something in my head telling me not to trust her, that she's hiding something and I'm going to figure it out. Maybe then and only then will I think about being around her but I doubt that I'll be with her. I don't want to see her die and the only way to prevent that from happening is to mate with her, something I wasn't ready to do. My stupid wolf wants to let her die but I can't. Hopefully her wolf will come back and she'll get stronger, I can't be the reason for her dying. Misty You're pathetic! You have Alpha blood in you and yet you let a regular wolf beat you up, no wonder your mate doesn't want you. I said to myself. I went and took a shower then fell asleep. Today was my first day at school. I was excited and nervous at the same time. What if I wasn't as smart as the other kids or what if I got bullied like some of the kids in those tv shows. "Come on Misty! Beta Kevin is waiting for us outside." "Coming!" I grabbed my backpack and ran down stairs. I got butterflies like I always did when I saw him. He was so handsome. Sandra got in the back and I followed her. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Getting in the truck." "Aren't you going to sit in the front?" She asked. "No I'm fine back here." She rolled her eyes and we buckled ourselves in. The school was about 20 minutes away. When we pulled up people were looking at the truck and talking. "Misty I need to speak with you." "Uh I'll be waiting at the entrance." Sandra said before getting out the car. "I'll be leaving this evening. I'll come pick you up from school before I go." "Um ok." I don't know why I was sad. I didn't know if it was because I'll miss him or the fact that having him down the street made me feel safe. "Just call me when you're ready." I nodded my head and got out of the truck. People were looking and whispering. I ignored them and looked for Sandra. I spotted her near the entrance with two other people they were talking and laughing. Should I wait for her to be done? What if they were talking about me? She looked up and waved me over. "Hey guys this is Misty, she's new here. This is Ashley and this handsome fella here is Andre they're twins." "Nice to meet you guys." "Hi!" Ashley said while smiling. Andre just sat there texting away. Ashley hit him up the shide the head and he growled. "What the hell?" "Where's your manners? Mom would kill you if she seen you acting like this." He looked at me and his went wide then he winked and walked off. "Don't pay my brother no mind he's an i***t. Lets go get your schedule." She hooked her arm around mine and walked in the school. "Hey! How are you going to steal my new friend!" Sandra yelled while running up to us. We went to the office and I got my schedule. I had some ok classes. I hated chemistry, I mean who doesn't. Those equations gave me a headeache, my tutor said that he never understood how I was good at math but couldn't do the chemistry work. I also had English and gym which I wasn't ready for. I'm not the most coordinated person and I run like a chicken. My favorite class was forensic science. I loved this school, they had everything from veterinary assistant to introduction to entrepreneurship. After comparing schedules we went our separate ways my first class was English. I walked into the class and saw an older lady sitting at her desk. She had big glasses and bright red lipstick with a mean look on her face. "Hi Ms lang I'm Misty, today is my first day." "Oh great another one." She mumbled. "Have seat anywhere, there are no assigned seats. Grab a text book from the back shelf. I'll print you off an assignment guide." "Thank you." I said before getting my textbook and taking a seat. The class was boring and my pen had dust coming from it from writing so fast. I mean seriously she acts like this is a college course. My day went by fast and I met a couple of nice people. My day was going good until I saw kay smirking at me. That girl is the definition of a mean girl. She's damn annoying. When I walked in the cafeteria I saw why she was smirking. There were pictures of me bending over getting food from the refrigerator. It had to be taken the first night that I was at the house, after Kevin went nuts I never put on shorts again. Boys were whistling and girls were looking at me whispering. "Hey you can stay in my room tonight since you're giving out blow jobs for shelter." Everyone started laughing. I ran out the school in tears. I was so embarrassed, how could people be so mean. I use to dream about going to school everyday and now that I can finally go I don't want to. I don't even know these people and they treat me like crap. I started to walk around. I didn't know where I was going but I kept walking. I ended up at a park. I smiled at all the families, it reminded me of when I was little when me, mom, and dad use to play at the park. That's when we were happy before I disappointed my dad. I spotted a pay phone and thought of my mom. I wanted to call so bad. I knew they would trace the call but I didn't care. I didn't even care that he would come get me and that I'd be abused the rest of my life at least I wouldn't be lonely. I ran to the store and got change. My fingers shook as I dialed the numbers. Come on answer. I was about to hang up when she answered. "Hello." "Mom!" There was silence before I heard her voice again. "Misty baby is that you?" "Yes mom its me." "Omg honey where are you? How are you? Why haven't you called! I thought that you were dead." "Mom I'm fine. Where's dad?" I asked. "He's doing patrols." "I miss you so much mom." I tried not to cry but hearing her voice made me miss her even more. "I miss you too baby. Where are you staying?" "I found a pack to take me in, they're great." I lied. I didn't want her worrying she'd drive herself crazy. "That's good, at least I know you're not on the streets." "Is dad still mad at me?" She sighed "He's looked for you every day after you left. He's home don't say anything I don't want to set him off again." I heard shuffling then talking. "Misty where the hell are you?" "Wow dad no how are you or I miss you. I'm somewhere safe." "Tell me where you are right now!" He yelled. I could tell he was pissed because voise changed. "I love you dad goodbye." I could hear him screaming and my mom crying before I hung up. Alpha Benson "Dammit!" I yelled throwing the phone at the wall. "Calm down honey." My mate said while rubbing my back. "Don't tell me what to do!" I snapped. "How long have you been going behind my back and talking to her? Do you realize how important it is for her to mate with jason. The pack depends on it." "The pack isn't depending on it you are. You and Jasons dad are both money hungry animals! Because of you my baby ran away and she's probably never coming home. You can sleep on the couch I don't want to be anywhere near you." She yelled before slamming the door. I gritted my teeth. No one talks to me like that not even my mate. I'll have to address that later right now I had work to do. "Yeah Dan its Alpha Benson. I need you to do something. I just received a call on my house phone trace it and get back to me." It won't be long now Misty I'll find you. Misty I wiped my tears and walked around some more. I went into a diner to get warm. I was an i***t, I left my backpack at school and my cell phone was in it. I didn't know anyones number and I had spent the change I had on the phone call to mom and now I was looking stupid. "What can I get for you?" "Oh nothing I'm fine." "You can't sit in here if you're not going to order. These booths are used for paying customers." I could tell that she was getting annoyed. "Her meal is on me." "I-uh no thanks, I'm just leaving." "No stay, I promise I won't hurt you. I saw you run out of the school today. I tried to follow you but you were already gone." He sat in the seat across from me and smiled. "How did you find me?" "I wasn't looking. I actually live down the street." "Are you going to order or waste my time." Boy was she rude I knew that she never received any tips. "We'll have two house burger meals with strawberry milk shakes." She nodded and walked away. "What's your name?" "Misty whats yours?" "I'm Harvey. I know what its like to get picked on, I was the football teams punching bag last year until my dad forced me to join a gym. I learned boxing and other things now they just nod and keep walking. What did you do to get on the mean girls list?" "Nothing." *** "Thank you for the food and for talking to me." "No problem. I've always wanted to save a damsel in distress." He smiled. There was a loud crash and glass breaking. I jumped and turned around. Kevin had pushed the door open with so much force that it shattered the glass. He glared at me his eyes were pitch black and I knew I was in trouble.
