I was annoyed when Kevin came to pick me up for the doctors visit. He was late and I was tired because I didn't get any sleep. I was up all-night thinking about him and his slutty date. Yeah it was wrong to call her that, I didn't know her but she was with my mate.

Jealous?

No! Now shut up! I said to myself.

“Did you hear a word I said?” Kevin asked.

“No!” I snapped. I immediately felt bad, my parents raised me to be respectful and especially to people that were higher up in ranks than me. He slammed on the brakes and got out of the car. I followed him with my eyes until he got to my side and opened my door and pulled me out. He grabbed my face his eyes were pitch black.

“Don't you ever speak to me like that again little mate, the next time you'll be punished.” I stood there with wide watery eyes. Don't cry... Dont cry... Dont cry. I repeated. I looked at the ground as sign of submission. I didn't want to piss him off more than I already had.

“Look at me.” I looked up but I didn't meet his eyes. “I said look at me!” He growled.

I finally looked in his eyes, they were turning back to the regular beautiful eyes that I loved so much.

“Do you understand?” I nodded my head yes.

“Good now get back in the truck.” See! He's a psycho, just like my dad and Jason. This is the reason why I didn't want a mate. I was quiet the whole way to the doctors office, I can't believe he would act like that. I thought it was physically impossible for a mate to hurt their mate. Another myth I read in the books.

“Ms Henderson nice to see you again."

“Hi.”

“Follow me, today I'm going to be doing a routine check up, make sure everything is OK.” I nodded my head in understanding.

“I see your birthday is in two weeks.”

“Yes I'll be 18.”

“Have you found your mate?"

“I uh-” I didn't know if I should lie but Kevin doesn't want anyone to know. “No, no sir I haven't.”

“Hmmmm well don't give up, most people don’t find their mate as soon as they turn 16 you'll find him soon enough.” There was a knock at the door a short older lady walked in and smiled.

“Im here to take your blood.” My eyes widened. I've never been a fan of blood. When I was thirteen I tried to jump the gate and fell on a piece of glass. When I pulled it out blood came gushing out, as soon as I saw the blood I passed out. I woke up in my room with my leg wrapped. My mom was holding my hand and my dad was cursing saying that I was a i***t I could have killed myself.

“Dont worry dear it'll be over fast.” I turned my head when I saw the needle. I kept willing myself not to pass out. Think of something happy, I thought of my mom and I baking cookies and having a movie marathon, god I missed her.

“There all done!” She collected her things and left. The doctor asked me a few more questions and checked me over.

“One last thing, whens the last time you shifted?"

“Its been about two years."

“Thats not good Ms Henderson, your wolf could leave you or worse case take over the next time you shift and wont give you control back.”

“I think she's already gone she doesn't talk to me even when I met my ma-” I slapped my hands over my mouth with wide eyes hoping he didn't realize what to was going to say.

He cleared his throat. “Well everything else looks fine. I'll run some tests and let you know if anything turns up, in the meantime follow the nutritional diet we discussed and try to shift. It'll hurt like hell but you need to do it in order to keep your wolf.”

“Thank you."

“I'll send Kevin in to get you.”

Kevin

“Is she alright?”

“I’m afraid not. She hasn't shifted in almost two years and I think she lied about meeting her mate, I think he rejected her."

I became nervous which is not normal for me i’m always calm and ready for anything but the mate situation is still a sensitive subject with me.

“What would happen if her mate rejects her.?”

“Her wolf will completely leave her and if shes not strong enough she'll slowly die.”

Shit! I said to myself. I survived my first mate dying because I'm a royal and we never got the chance to mate. Misty is already weak I know this will kill her.

Then let her die.

My wolf growled. We don't need another mate. He still doesn't want a mate and I don't blame him.

We cant just let a innocent person die! I'll call Ace, maybe he'll know what to do

“Thank you doctor."

“I prescribed her some vitamins, she needs to take two a day until she's back to her full strength, the vitamins will help her heal faster.” I nodded my head and went to find her. When I opened the door she was pacing and biting her nails. She looked at me with wide scared eyes. And I didn't like it! My mate shouldn't be afraid of me.

Our mate is dead. My wolf growled.

“I-I’m sorry Kevin. I didn't mean to it just slipped out but I caught myself before I finished the sentence. Please don't be mad at me.” She looked at me with those big pretty eyes, how I could get mad at that?

My wolf groaned. Snap out of it! We don’t want a mate.

I ignored him. “Its OK."

Misty

I really thought he was going to be mad considering his earlier outburst. I really didn’t mean for it to slip out. We started walking back to the car I could see women batting their eyes and smiling at Kevin while glaring at me. I don't know why, Kevin is free to date whoever he wants. When we got into the car I decided to make small talk.

“So the guys apologized to me last night but did you have to be so rough with them? They look horrible.” He growled.

“No one is going to hurt you, not while i’m around they're lucky I didn't kill them. They learned their lesson and they’ll stay away from you from now on.”

Dr Azhar

I was sitting at my desk when someone walked in without knocking.

“Doctor-”

“Who are you?"

“Someone who's going to make you a lot of money.”

“I'm not interested.”

“Just hear me out.”

“No thank you. You have 5 minutes to leave before I call security.”

“It's nothing illegal I promise, just hear me out.”

“OK have a seat."

“So are you in?”

“Give me a day or two to think about it I'll give my answer then.”

“I trust you'll keep this between us?” I nodded my head yes, I had a lot to think about.
