Alex     She was uncomfortable and fidgeting at first, but she relaxed in his arms after a while. The urge to take her anywhere but the house his father was keeping her, but she didn’t really trust him.   Soon.   She didn’t look down at all. She kept her eyes fixed on his fingers wrapped around the back of her knees held up. Sure, he cradled her like a child.   He preferred to think he was carrying her like a groom would a bride over the threshold.   But Nora wasn’t like that. She was guarded. Rightfully so, he could admit, but this wasn’t the life for her. She shouldn’t be used like a tool for his father to use.    He may have let her make most of the trip on her own when she left for Kensington, but he was there with her the whole time. She had maybe thirty minutes of sleep
