“C-Come again? What-what did you just say?”
Luciel looked at her and as Romina took a deep breath, Luciel spoke. “We’re here to fetch you and meet your daughter.”
Theresa was so excited to see her daughter that she couldn’t help but feel happy and nervous at the same time that she kept on fidgeting at the backseat of the taxi. She can’t even contain herself that she’s already on the verge of crying.
From staring at the window, Romina turned her head to the former teacher and she gently held the teacher’s hand. Theresa looked at her with tears pooling in her eyes and Romina gave her a reassuring smile and a nod while holding her hand. Theresa nodded and sniffled as she held Romina’s hand as well.
Luciel looked at them. He didn’t have any idea how they managed to comfort each other even though they just met today and didn’t entirely know each other.
Like how Romina wanted to help that poltergeist even though that ghost tormented almost all of them in that building and she didn’t fully know that kid.
“Everything will be alright, ma’am,” he heard her comforting the former teacher.
“Thank you… thank you.”
Luciel looked at the window of the taxi, looking at the trees, the clouds, and the buildings coming and going in his sight. He didn’t understand human actions like this—all he could see in the past centuries is how pathetic, selfish, greedy, lustful, prideful, and prideful humans are. He loves how tainted their souls are because these are tasty once it’ll get eaten. It’s the flavor.
He’s not used to seeing them doing such deeds like this… being compassionate towards each other.
Romina’s eyes met his as soon as he turned his head back at her. The former smiled at him as she kept on holding the former teacher’s hand.
Thank you, Luciel.
He subconsciously gave her a soft gaze before he looked away and focused on the taxi’s window.
Somehow, I’ll get used to this…
Theresa was quite confused as soon as they finally arrived at the place where she was going to meet her daughter Trisha.
“What are we doing… in your school?” she couldn’t help but ask. They’re facing the Senior High building where she used to work and she could see the lights of her old Grade 11 advisory room flickering. “I thought we’re going to meet my daughter.”
Romina and Luciel looked at each other. It seemed like Romina was too hesitant so Luciel is the one who responded. “We’re going to meet her here today, Mrs. Delgado. But I won’t give you any words of encouragement or any comforting words to you right now. The moment you’re gonna meet your daughter, you have to prepare yourself.”
“Luciel,” he immediately felt Romina’s hold on his arm which he presumed that his human is trying to stop him but he didn’t. He just kept on talking to the former teacher.
“The moment you’re gonna meet your daughter, you have to prepare yourself. Because what you’re expecting is the total opposite of what you’re going to see,” he said.
Theresa stared at him in silence for a couple of seconds. She took a deep breath and responded. “What’s important to me is to see her.”
They heard loud thuds and chattering and the three of them immediately looked up the fourth floor and saw how the lights on the said floor were flickering crazily as the wind swirled around the said floor and there was no wind in their spot.
“Seems like she already knew we’re here,” Luciel muttered.
“Wha-What is really happening?” Theresa asked in utter confusion.
“We need to hurry before the reapers will come and get her,” Luciel immediately ran ahead of them and Romina and Theresa followed suit.
“Duck!” as soon as they’ve reached the fourth floor, Luciel immediately shouted at them to duck. Hugging the former teacher, Romina hastily ducked and Luciel immediately opened his hand to prevent the armchairs from hitting them which made him almost destroy half of it. Theresa shrieked in shock and fright and Romina still managed to hug and protect her and prevent the former teacher from seeing Luciel’s slight demon transformation.
“You finally showed up,” Luciel muttered.
When Romina noticed that everything finally calmed down, she slowly raised her head and slowly let go of Theresa. Her eyes fixed on both Luciel then to the poltergeist in front of them.
“How. Dare. You,” they heard the poltergeist’s eerie, creepy and angry voice.
Theresa slowly raised her head up and she looked at Luciel then at the girl in front of them.
The girl is familiar, Theresa could say.
She’s wearing a baby pink Lolita-like dress which was soaked in both mud and blood and the kid was strangely soaked wet and pale.
Lukso ng dugo. Even if the kid in front of them appeared like that. She could recognize her… very well.
“She’s the one…” Luciel muttered.
So this is what he meant when he told me what I am going to see earlier...
The kid who used to smile at her brightly, who loves to laugh and call her while grinning is now looking at her in gloom and anger on her pale, rotten face.
A tear in Theresa’s eyes fell on her cheek as she muttered the kid’s name. “T-Trisha…”
