CHAPTER 50: Everything’s Going to be Alright

“WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE AGAIN?” Luciel and Romina looked at each other. Just like the other day, the two of them visited the apparition once again. Maria Leonora was just in front of them, crossing her arms over her chest. “I’m asking the two of you, what are you doing here again?” “We-We,” Romina chirped nervously. She, then, cleared her throat once again and spoke. “We-We paid you a visit, Madame Maria Leonora. He-Here, we brought you some flowers…” she slowly and carefully put the bouquet of flowers on the empty dirty table in between them. Maria Leonora looked at the bouquet of daisies in front of her. Her brows twitched in the sight of the bouquet and she looked at Romina. “I told you to stop coming here. My decision is final and firm. I will not be going to leave this place and that’s final. You can leave now, while I am still asking you nicely.” Romina looked at Luciel and using telepathy, the demon spoke to her. “I told you, this is just pointless. If she’ll know what happened to the kid, she’ll go nuts I tell you. Let’s just stop this and let her realize.” “That won’t do,” Romina fired back. “She deserved to know and meet her. I won’t just let her wait in agony like this because she hoped for someone to come back for her.” “Wait, Romina!” “What are the two of you still doing here? Leave now!” they could tell in Maria Leonora’s voice that she’s starting to get angry. “Umm, we-we’re not here to harm you, Maria Leonora—” “I SAID LEAVE!!!” Maria Leonora shouted at them. Romina could hear the screechy, eerie and terrifying noises around them after Maria Leonora screamed. She even flinched when she heard mirrors breaking around them. She’s not going to lie, that definitely scared the s**t out of her that she couldn’t help but cling to Luciel’s arm. Luciel didn’t flinch nor felt intimidated by Maria Leonora. He just stared at her. “We came here not to cause any harm nor force you to get out of this house. We came here to tell you that we found her.” Eyes widen, Romina immediately looked at Luciel. What…? That made Maria Leonora pause for a second. When she managed to process everything, she asked. “What?” “Alyanna Jimenez,” Luciel said. “That’s the name of the kid you’ve been waiting for years, am I right?” “What…” the apparition trailed off. “Why…? How did you know about her?” “She’s the only daughter of the family that owned this house in the past, the Jimenez family, am I right?” “How did you know about her?” the apparition asked him once again. “I could let you meet her,” he responded instead. “That’s the actual reason why we came here. We want you to get ready to meet her.” Romina secretly tugged Luciel’s sleeves but the demon didn’t budge and he just kept on talking. “Meet her?” Maria Leonora flashed a tiny smile but her expression went back to anger and glared at Luciel. “You’re a demon! How could I possibly trust you on that?! Who knows, you’re after my soul and you’re trying to deceive me by telling me that! Stop it! Just leave me alone already!” “I may be a demon who’s after for ruined souls to eat it and I will not going to deny that because that’s indeed my nature but as you can see, that’s not the situation here. I am under a Celestial contract of not harming any human, living or dead as long as I am guarding the human assigned to me which is this 18-year-old girl beside me,” he explained and pointed to Romina. “And I promised to this human as well that I won’t harm anyone and I won’t deceive anyone.” That made Maria Leonora stop being angry with them but contemplating whether to listen to them or not. “As I said, you’re going to meet Alyanna as soon as possible.” “How…” Maria Leonora trailed off. “How will you do that?” Luciel stared at her. “Just trust us on it.” “Luciel! Luciel, wait—teka nga muna sandal! Hoy Luciel!” Romina immediately ran in front of him and stopped him from walking. After the conversation they had with Maria Leonora, they decided to go home. Of course, Romina could tell that Luciel kept on avoiding her because of what he said to the apparition earlier. “Why did you do that?” Romina immediately asked him. “Why did you tell her those things?” Luciel stared at her. “You want her to meet the kid, right? I was just doing what you want to do and what you want to happen. After all, that’s the main point of why we visited her, am I right?” “I know, I know I told you I want her to meet that kid named Alyanna but we couldn’t just blatantly lie to her like that!” Romina immediately held Luciel’s wrist, pulling him back. “We have to go back there. We have to tell her the truth.” “Do you really think she’ll accept it?” Luciel asked. Romina turned her head at him and took a long pause. “You said it yourself, she deserved to know her situation right now and meet her. You won’t just let her wait in agony like that because she hoped for someone to come back for her.” “I…” “I know I lied to her. Not that I regret what I've said back there because, yeah, I am giving her false hopes that she didn’t deserve as well but as you can see, we need to prepare her before we’ll spill the truth to her. She may be an apparition, a wandering soul that doesn’t have a human body anymore but she still has feelings. They could feel sadness and pain even if they don't have their own living body. The truth hurts and she’s not yet ready to take it yet. We need to win her trust before telling her the truth.” Romina felt guilty about the thought that they’re obviously lying to the poor apparition but she knows Luciel knows what’s he’s doing so she’ll let him take the lead. It’s going to be alright, right? She looked at him once again and sighed. She nodded and let him hold her hand and walk side by side with him. When he noticed how weak her footsteps were because of the sudden sadness she felt, he wrapped his arm on her shoulder and gave her shoulder a light squeeze. She looked at him and met his gaze. “This is a hard decision for you since you decided to help that apparition. I know that. But she needs time, we’ll take my lead until she’s ready to know the truth.” She nodded slowly. “Mmh.” I trust Luciel. I know he won’t break our trust, my trust. Everything’s going to be alright. For Maria Leonora… everything’s going to be alright. "Hmm" “This is somehow nostalgic. I always sing this to you until you fall asleep,” looking at the moon shining brightly on the sky, Maria Leonora’s gaze settled from the moon to the picture frame just beside her as she sang a certain lullaby. “I don’t know if I’m going to trust those kids but, they seemed sincere and serious to help me meet my child,” her eyes settled on the kid sitting between her parents, smiling brightly that she could outshine the full moon shining brightly in the night sky. “But I will not be going to lie that they made me somehow happy that they’re going to help me meet you once again.” Maria Leonora smiled as she looked at the picture frame. “It’s been years, Alyanna. I’m going to meet you after all those years.”
