"Why not?" the thug who was hit just now spoke and then looked at me with a smirk. "Was it you who hit me just now?"
I nodded. "Oops, sorry. It was an accident!"
"F*ck you! Do you have a death wish or something?" As he spoke, he raised and waved the baseball bat in his hand at me. Demi and I dodged it at the same time, and then hit him hard with beer bottles that we took from the tables beside.
Seeing us fighting back, the other thugs started attacking us with their baseball bats too.
Luckily, Demi and I knew a little about martial arts, so we could still manage to defend ourselves. When the police came, the thugs were all slightly injured. And all of us were brought to the police station.
After making statements, Demi and I needed someone to bail us out because we were, after all, involved in a fight despite ourselves being the victims.
Poor Demi could only wait for me to find someone to bail us out because as an orphan in Flasmond, she barely had any friends other than me.
But it was the same for me. I wasn't someone who was good at socializing, so I barely had friends aside from colleagues from my work place and the Thomson family. I thought for a long time before finally deciding to make a call to Benjamin.
The call got connected after ringing for two times, but I got silence from the other end of it. ''Dr. Cole, I'm really sorry to disturb you at this hour. Can you come to the police station? I got myself into a bit of trouble,'' I said with embarrassment.
There was no response from him again. I paused before saying, ''Please Dr. Cole.''
After a long while, a cold voice sounded from the other end of the phone. "Lacey!"
This voice was Dylan's!
Why did he answer a call to Benjamin's phone?
For a moment, I was shocked and frightened. I didn't know what to say. ''Dylan, you...''
"Give me the address!" Before I could finish, that voice spoke again.
I could tell that Dylan was in a bad mood.
"The Lewisham Police Station!" The call got hung up right after I gave the address.
Looking at me, Demi was a little speechless. "Why didn't you just call Dylan? Things just got more complicated!"
I held my forehead and felt speechless as ever. "Dylan was drunk when I left the villa. I thought he would be resting, so I called Benjamin. Urgh, I didn't expect that."
I didn't expect Dylan to answer this call.
Half an hour later, I could see Dylan walking into the police station amongst the crowd. As handsome and fit as he was, his icy and ferocious vibe really made him look perfect.
Moreover, there were always reports about him in the city's financial news headlines every day, so the people in the police station went up to him to greet him.
Staring at him, Demi rubbed my shoulder and said, "You know, I can understand why you are so obsessed with him. He's just perfect! Everyone would want the title 'Mrs. Thomson', let alone sleeping with him every day like you."
I rolled my eyes at her. She had just tried to persuade me to divorce a while ago, and yet right now, she herself wanted him...
Sure enough, women tended to change their minds.
After Dylan talked to the police and signed on a paper, we were freed.
At the gate of the police station.
The policeman who detained us said, "If you encounter the same situation again, just call the police. Don't do anything else!"
Demi and I exchanged glances, then we smiled at him and thanked him.
Then right after he left, Demi whispered, "What the h*ck, if I don't fight back, the police's job would be to collect corpses!"
I was about to say something when I felt a chill running down my spine. It was Dylan, standing next to his black Jeep and wearing his black suit.
