Garrett made it out of the city and into the woods, having lost the captain after taking a few random turns before backtracking and heading in the right direction. He had no problem navigating the woods in the dark, the sun now fully set below the horizon, but Bliss had already stumbled a few times so he had to slow his pace for her.
She had not complained once, even though she had been struggling a bit to keep up with him when he had been running through the city. He knew she must be tired and they still had a ways to go until they reached his hideout. He stopped, hearing Bliss’ harsh breaths as he double-checked that no one was following them, leaning down and picking her up into his arms.
