Chapter 7: Aroused
I regained consciousness in what seemed to be a sauna. It was so warm. There was cool air on the nape of my neck on and the bruised side of my face, but the other side of my face and the front of my body was against something extremely warm to the touch. I realised I was lying down on my front. My vision was hazy. I stirred. I realised what I was lying on. My face was resting on the bare, warm, hard chest of a large man. My entire body was draped over him. My arm across his chest. My leg across his waist. I could feel the bulge of his large erect member against my thigh. I bit my lip. Moisture pooled in my underwear involuntarily. His chest was rising and falling slowly. It was dark. We were in an extremely comfortable bed. I almost drifted off back to sleep, so warm and cosy and so happy for some strange reason.
I came to my senses suddenly and tried to shoot up out of the bed. Immediately, a weight prevented me. I squirmed. The man did not stir but his huge muscular arm was wrapped around my back holding me against him. I struggled and his grip tightened in his sleep. His other arm which had been at his side came up to rest in my long curls, stroking me absentmindedly. The hand stilled as though the man had stirred only to fall more deeply asleep afterwards. I strained my neck a little to see who this was, already guessing who it could be. My suspicions were confirmed. Alpha Orion was sleeping soundly with me in his arms. He was just in a pair of soft trousers, barefoot and shirtless. His scent was so masculine and clean. I breathed it in. He looked so majestic. I was hit with that same glee that did not make sense considering my situation. He had successfully purchased me and now it would be even more difficult to escape.
I surveyed my surroundings. I was in a night gown that came down to just above my knees. It was quite pretty, floral with puffed sleeves. Someone had undressed me and put on my nightgown while I was unconscious. My cheeks burned and not due to Alpha Orion’s hot skin. The room was massive with high ceilings. This mansion seemed grander than the previous one. I remembered one of the sisters saying I would go to a much grander mansion than theirs. They had not been lying. The bed was huge and had curtains that could be drawn around it. However the curtains were open so the room was in sight. There was a huge fireplace left unlit. Huge glass double doors led out to a balcony. The floor-length windows were open, allowing cool breeze to blow in. It was refreshing and helped with the warmth of the Alpha beneath me. I still did not know what Alpha really meant. It was a leader I assumed. A leader of wolf-people. Werewolves. They could not have truly meant that. I recalled Perseus and Mr Caro and how their eyes could turn black. A chill ran through me. I shivered and Orion stirred, crushing me to him. I squealed and instantly regretted making this noise.
Alpha Orion opened his eyes. His tense blue eyes met my fearful brown ones. His eyes softened. He brought his hand up to my bruised face, softly caressing it with his thumb. The gentle motion felt lovely on my tender skin. I was able to pull myself up a little as his grip around me slackened. I regarded him warily. I sat up, staring at him. His arms left me. I felt the loss of his warmth. I actually felt sad to not be in his embrace anymore but then I felt sick with myself for reacting so intensely to a man who had purchased me for his pleasure like I was an object. I had so many questions and I did not know where to start.
“Who are you?” I asked. I already knew his name but not much else.
He smirked slightly. “I’m Alpha Orion, but you my little Luna, you can call me Orion. I am the Alpha of the Cold Moon Pack, the largest Pack in existence. My brother, whom you met first, is Alpha Perseus of the Snow Moon Pack, the second largest pack. Together, as brothers, we rule a kingdom of werewolves.”
I was silent, thinking. This werewolf thing again.
“If you’re really a werewolf then just turn into a wolf right now, show me!” I commanded him as confidently as I could.
Alpha Orion laughed. His whole body shook. He had wonderful thundering sort of laugh.
“Mmm, I think not, Orchid, I am sorry to deny you,” he whispered, reaching out and stroking by bottom lip.
“How do you know who I am? How did you even know I existed? Did you send that man to kidnap me?” I asked, the questions flooding out, my body trembling.
“Shhh, little Luna,” he said, stroking both my lips. It felt so good. I hated myself for being so attracted to him.
“I was looking for you, my mate, for years. I smelled you one night on your way home from the place where you work. The human hospital. You looked tired. You were frightened because it was late. There was a man following you, a disgusting pervert,” Orion said, his eyes narrowing and his voice becoming a growl.
I remembered that night. The man had been following me. I broke into a run and he ran after me. I was so scared. I looked back suddenly and the man had disappeared. It made no sense. I was not a fast runner at all.
“I killed him, quietly, so I wouldn’t upset you. I watched you walk home. I knew you were mine, because of your smell and the way I felt complete when I looked upon you. My wolf was howling in delight. He wanted to claim you immediately. To follow you to your little apartment and creep into your bed and between your pretty legs, to mark and mate you,” Orion said, his voice husky, his eyes filled with lust as he stared at me. I was flushed. My breathing became uneven. He looked at my face and my body. He pulled at one of my tendrils and watched it spring back into place.
He continued his story, “I didn’t allow this. I hushed my inner wolf. I arranged with the Caro family, a powerful matchmaking family. I am a busy man like all Alphas. The Caro brother and his sisters watch over the mates of pack leaders for as long as necessary before they can be plucked from their lives and brought to their purchasers. I had Rose brought to us at the same time. My brother had found his mate shortly before me. If I had known the human kidnapper had a liking for brutalising you delicate little things, I would have collected you both myself.”
Orion looked at me, his eyes pleading with me for forgiveness. I wanted to launch myself at him. I pushed my lustful thoughts away.
“How much did you pay for me?” I whispered. Maybe I could pay him back, buy my freedom.
Orion chuckled. “Millions,” he said matter-of-factly. “I would’ve payed anything though. My entire net worth if necessary. I could make it back. But you are irreplaceable,” he said, sitting up in one slow but fluid motion. He moved like a tiger, or maybe, like a wolf.
I took a deep breath. I could never repay that. It reminded me of something. “I have so much debt from student loans and I have to go back to work to pay it off! My family can’t have that responsibility fall on them. They’re getting older…”
“Shh, shh, little Luna,” he said, touching my lips again. “Everything has been taken care of. Your debts are repaid including your father’s gambling debts.”
I gasped. How did he find out so much?
“I will wire money to your parents every month, just as you used to,” He said like it was nothing. “They will be taken care of,” he said, waving his hand dismissively and lying back down.
He kept his eyes on me.
“Why are people calling me that? Luna? Does that mean moon?” I asked.
“The Alpha’s mate is the Luna. The female leader of the pack, like a queen, a princess, whatever you want.” He said, chuckling.
“Orion,” I said his name for the first time.
His fate lit up. “Yes, Baby,” he murmured in delight, his deep voice rumbling.
“You killed Boris,” I said.
Orion growled at the mention of that name. I ignored it. I was actually becoming used to these people’s weird tempers.
“But you sent him to kidnap me in the first place. It’s hypocritical,” I said boldly.
“You think what you want,” said Orion coldly. I winced. This was the first time he spoke harshly to me.
“I know that man used more force than necessary. This is an age old custom. You’re not the first and they usually don’t arrive in this state,” he said, touching my bruise.
“You have others,” I whispered, terror gripping me. “Other mates.”
My heart was so hurt all of a sudden.
Orion tossed his head back laughing raucously. It made me jump.
“No, little doc, I am referring to the mates of others in my pack. Each wolf has only one mate. Wolves mate for life,” he said, eyeing me.
I was suddenly aware of how cold this room actually was. His heat had been so intense, I had not realised it was a chilly night.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“At my home,” he said.
“Where’s that? How far are we from my home? Where’s Rose and your brother? Are they here? I want to see her…”
“Hush!” He said abruptly, becoming impatient with my questions and pulling me against his chest again. “That’s enough talk for now. It’s the middle of the night. Sleep.”
He stroked my hair and back with one hand while he held me to him with the other. I blushed furiously. My heart was racing. He was so hot. Literally. Like a furnace. I could not move because of his vice like grip. I whimpered a little and he slackened his grip, thinking he was hurting me but really I was just overheated. My breathing slowed. He continued his gentle caresses. He had forbidden me from asking questions for the rest of the night but I had an important one.
“Perseus will treat Rose gently right? Like how you’re acting now with me?” I asked, fearing for my friend even though I had the brother who was the killer.
“Yes of course,” he said, smiling. He kissed my forehead. Goosebumps erupted all over me. I snuggled in. I would play along accordingly and try to escape tomorrow. It did not seem like he intended to “mate” or “mark” me tonight. I knew what mate meant. I did not know what he meant by mark but I thought of branding with a hot poker. I shivered in fright at the image conjured in my mind and Orion tightened his grip again and pulled the covers over us. Heat enveloped me. He massaged my back with both hands now. It was so soothing and yet it was making me moist. I rocked my hips a little against his waist before I realised what I was doing and froze. Orion chuckled. When his chest stopped rumbling from laughter, I was able to drift off to sleep.
