Chapter nineThe luck of Five-Handed Eos Bakchi lifted me up on one of his outstretched palms as I sailed through the air. Rolling into a ball, arms protecting head, everything tucked in tight; I hit the window with an almighty crash. The cracking of glass and the splintering of wood crackled all about me with one long drawn horrendous roar. The drape saved me from serious injury. With the curtain wrapped about me I simply went helter-skelter through the window. The curtain trailed along behind like a trawl. Bits of frame clung around my neck. Out I went, out and down.
