Elaine POV
The first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft, golden glow across the room. I had spent most of the night drifting in and out of sleep, my mind still trying to process everything that had happened.
My body ached, but the warmth of Aeron's embrace kept the worst nightmares at bay. Even now, as I lay in the hospital bed, I could feel his presence like a shield around me, protecting me from the darkness that had haunted me for so long.
When morning came, Aeron had been called away by Lukas for something urgent, leaving me alone with my thoughts. The silence was heavy, filled with questions I wasn't sure I wanted to answer.
