Sometime after, Lila and Lukas left the room, and Aeron left to take care of some stuff. I stared out of the small window beside my bed, the soft rays of the afternoon sun casting a warm glow across the room.
The gentle light reminded me of simpler times—times when I would daydream about my future, about the mate who would sweep me off my feet and make all my worries disappear.
