A mother sat next to him for a few minutes, watching her child ride the carousel. She stood and left, arguing with a man Austin assumed was her husband. He folded his arms across his chest. Sharkey had told him to just sit here, but he didn’t say for how long. Was Sharkey going to drive around the parking lot until he came out there? He kicked the sack of bird seed.
