Chapter Two

"Mom..I am ready" Manik came out looking devilishly handsome in a yellow blazer, just to blow her senses away.

"Wow!! Someone's looking really pretty! All ready to blow her sense away. " Sriti smiled at her handsome son who smiled and hugged her.

"Oh stop it Mommy! She looks far better! Can't wait to see her in person!" Sriti laughed and ruffled his hair and went away.

Other side.

Nandini was looking miraculously beautiful in a baby pink suit. Her mother, Padma came inside and sat beside her.

"My child has grown so fast! You are looking so pretty! Hope no evil eye falls on you, today" She kissed her forehead while Nandini closed her eyes and hugged her.

"See my child! You are already twenty one! Manik is a very nice guy and he belongs to a very good and cultured family. Your father has talked to his father exclusively for you! Hope you won't say no to him.. We expect a lot from you" Nandini nodded listening to her mother.

"Come down stairs, fast! They have already arrived. " Padma said while Nandini blushingly nodded.

While on the other hand, the Malhotras had already met Murthys.

"Manik beta(son), we would want to know what you expect in your would-be. We would make her like this only" Nandini's orthodox father, Narayan Murthy said.

"Actually uncle! There's no such expectations from my side for I know she would be good! I have only one thing to say to her and I actually would want to talk to her alone about that.." He smiled at them.

"Sure son! I am glad you visited and liked our daughter. But in our village, the groom and the bride doesn't talk to each other or meet each other face to face before marriage! That's a ritual going on for eras" Their village was a remote one.

Manik's parents faintly smiled because it was a tradition that was followed by all while Manik gulped his saliva and nodded .

"So, Narayan ji! Our family priest had called for a wedding after ten days! It's an auspicious day and is very rare" Raj said while everyone nodded.

"Thank god!! I just want to get rid of this girl and the responsibility" Narayan muttered under his breath which was noticed by Manik.

He felt very sad. His girl was suffering from a lot. Being a girl in this village was itself a sin. The village was very underdeveloped and girls were treated as burden.

"Here she is! Come to us Nandini" Padma said as Nandini descended towards the living room while Manik looked at her as if she was an angel.

"Tea?" Nandini was offering tea to everyone and came towards Manik blushingly while he smiled and took a cup.

"Now that she is here we should talk to her and ask for her approval also for we both are getting married.." Manik offered an advice.

"Sorry to say but in here, the men takes the decisions and that's the final call" Nandini faintly smiled at Manik who too reciprocated feeling sad for her.

"Just keep your groom ready for the wedding after ten days" Narayan and Raj shared a hug while Padma and Sriti too while MaNan stood beside each other smilingly.
