Chapter 6 3:00 AMJoe reached for the radio tuner knob again, but stopped halfway there, seeming caught in the middle of some great struggle. His fingers trembled, his thumb twitched. Static intruded on the normally clear frequency playing on the radio. Somewhere close by in the night, a dog barked, startling him. Moments later one of the local crazies started up, shouting an obscene sermon to whoever was around and awake to listen. From somewhere in the darkness, somewhere out of sight, Joe heard the stoned, manic giggling of the little radio slut. His fingers closed over the dial, and he tuned it back to 1200. He caught a glimpse of his face in the rear-view mirror when he sat back, and didn’t care much for the expression he saw in his reflection. Not the fear that he had felt ea
