The Crown Prince's Unwanted Bride

Chapter 5: First Night

"Behold the Crown princess of the East Kingdom!!" The king shouted as the crowd cheered. Music started playing and people started dancing.

After her crowning Starlight sat down in her chair close to the queen. Her mind wandered as the latter activities of her wedding/coronation went on, She sat quietly watching the people dancing. What would happen when she and the prince were left alone? She couldn't bring herself to eat anything on the table as she pondered on it.

The queen noticed she was tense and reached out to cover her trembling hands with hers, turning her gaze to where Alexandre sat down talking with his father. "Don't worry, everything will be fine. He knows his duties as your husband because he has been raised well", the queen said as she gave Starlight a reassuring smile.

Starlight nodded at the queen and faked a smile, turning her gaze to Alaxandre, looking really closely now she noticed how handsome he looked. He was slim, yet well built around his chest and arms, although he was dressed in his royal garment, but one can easily tell how well built he is. His eyes looked like they could spit fire, and for the brief moment when they touched as he helped her down the stairs, his hands felt hard.

Alaxandre was a warrior who had no time for feelings or emotions, she thought, so there was no point entertaining these thoughts about him.

Her eyes went back to the crowd of people who were dancing with their various partners. As her eyes moved around she noticed a girl standing one side, well dressed like an elite, coldly staring.

Before she could make out a face, the girl turned quickly and was lost in the crowd of people dancing. She didn't bother herself with that but just closed her eyes willing to be done with this whole celebration thin once and for all. She had gone over it countless times with her mother and royal tutor on how to kneel, when to bow, etc.

Today has been stressful, she just wants to leave this place to go lay down and sleep.

She looked around and saw that everything was already done and requested permission to retire.

The queen and king gave her their permission, she looked at the prince but he seemed like someone lost in thought. She gave a bow and left from there with Kim following behind her.

When they got to the room, Kim helped in removing Starlight's clothes. Kim left after setting a bath for her and selecting her night clothes. She smiled at princess Starlight 'Good night princess Starlight, I hope you have good night she said and giggled, then rushed out of the prince chamber before she would be reprimanded by the princess.

Starlight almost said something, but when she saw the way the girl ran away, she laughed. She got into the walk-in closet, and got into the bathing room to take her bath. There were beautiful roses inside the water, she got inside the water and started taking her bath.

Alexandre bones ached from the stressful day as he walked to his chamber, only to get inside and find the sitting room area empty. This room that was his only since he was 15 will now be shared with someone else. Since a bride was choosing for him at the age of 15, everything has happened with a speed that left him feeling a though he was in a trance.

He remembered what the king his father at told him when he was preparing for his first battle. No amount of training and preparation was enough to prepare for the heat of a war. However, he braces up and went through with it, and now he was a seasoned warrior.

Now there was another battle raging within him, which he wasn't prepared for. Now he has to spend his day and night with a stranger, a bride chosen for him.

He walked into the room and stood close to the door. Alexandre raked his hair in frustration as he contemplated whether he should sleep on the couch, bed or the cold floor.

He sat on the bed and raked his dark hair in frustration. He didn't plan for this, he wished so hard to get married to the woman he loved not some random person picked by the deities.

After bathing starlight stepped into the room and found the prince sitting on the bed. Suddenly she felt naked in her night gown. Her heart began to pound at the knowledge of what might happen this night between them. Now she thinks she made a mistake of wearing a night gown like this, not that it was revealing her mother, but she felt naked on it.

She thought about how her mother had told her she was to surrender without a thought. She was to obey without question, because according to her she held the fate of the next hair of the East Kingdom in the palm of her hands.

Starlight raised the gown to cover her chest area more only to end up revealing more of her thighs.

What am I doing?, she thought to herself as she stood at the door of the walk in closet, half challenging her husband the princes to devour her like he was expected to, and half pleading for his patience as she fumbled with her night gown

Alexandre felt a pair of eyes looking at him and turned his back to be behold his new bride standing like a statue. He saw fear in her eyes. "I guess you most be tired" he said. "You can go to bed and we'll talk tomorrow" he said dismissing her with a wave of his hand.

Starlight stood still scared to lie beside Alexandre who sat on the bed. On impulse, she went back to the walk in closet and stood close to the badroom door, leaning against the wall.

Alexandre sat still wondering if this was how he was going to continue with his new bride, one night after another.

But he didn't care because she just gave him an opportunity to sneak out to see his love. I really wished he could go see her, but he was already tired and him just leaving the room in the middle of the night would be the subject for discussion among the maids and guards that were gossipers. They will all wonder why the newly wedded couple were not sleeping together.

He wondered what startlight was doing inside the closet. She hasn't said a word to him. He hated the idea of sharing a bed with a stranger for the rest of his life , but he was going to make sure this marriage did not live to see another 6 moons.

Starlight was still in the closet and had him moving around the room and thought he had stepped out. She came back to the room quickly and found his crown on the bed side table. She lay on the bed like a statue and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep before he came back from wherever he went. She just hopes he doesn't jump on top of her at night, forcing her to do what she isn't prepared for.

Starlight thought of the strange new direction her life had taken, there would be no more singing in the forest while picking fruits, no more dancing in the river with her orphans. She was now expected to behave like the future queen. She shaked her head removing all negative thoughts and drifted to sleep.

Only to here movements inside the prince chamber and sat up immediately. She thought the prince left. She took quick steps in the direction of the sound, until she came close enough to discover that it was actually the prince who laid on the couch in the living room.

"What is the problem? What are you standing there for?" The prince asked bashly.
