“No!?” Lucas rhetorically asks.
“Yes, I said no!” I repeat.
“I told you that my daughter would never choose anyone over her own mother!” My mother says, but this is not the case!
“I am not choosing anyone! It is my decision.” I look at my mom, then at Lucas. “Please leave,” I tell him.
“Are you telling me to leave, Cassandra?” Lucas asks, looking at me as if I have to think carefully about it.
“No, I am asking you to please wait in the car. I want to talk to my mother,” I state.
As soon as he leave, I ask Hazel to give us some privacy as I sit down with my mother alone in the lounge.
“Cassie, you don’t have to do this. There are many guys out there who will treat you better than him. Did you see how he disrespected me?” Mom complaints.
