1384 Words
Leah arrived home to pick her belongings… Leah picked herself up, grabbed her bag, and handed downstairs. The sight that greeted her was a scene from a nightmare. Her family, the people she had once cherished, were celebrating her downfall with clinking glasses and triumphant laughter. The opulent living room was adorned with soft, lush couches…. And her enemies are smiling widely like they can't hurt a fly. “Cheers to conquering our enemy” Mary declared, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “Cheers to a blissful life with my Allison,” Emily added, her laughter ringing hollow in Leah's ears. “Cheers to our everlasting enjoyment”, Allison proclaimed, his smile smug and self-satisfied. “Cheers to us!” they choroused in unison, their glasses raised high. Leah's anger boiled over. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she dragged her bag towards the door. “w***e!” Alex yelled after her, his evil laughter echoing through the room. “Go, you fool; you don’t belong here! Emily shouted, her voice filled with venom. “Leave, you illegitimate fool,” Mary added with a sneer. “Go back to your poverty-stricken life”. Leah's heart ached, but she vowed silently that they would regret their actions. One day, they would beg for her forgiveness, just as they were celebrating her downfall now. With that final vow, she stepped out of the house and slammed the door behind her. Outside, the sun was setting, casting long shadows across the quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood has modest houses lining the streets, with neatly trimmed lawns and flowering shrubs adding a touch of tranquility to the surroundings. Leah walked away from the house, each step a painful reminder of the betrayal she had endured. Walking down the familiar streets, she grapples with conflicting emotions, finding solace in the memories of the happier times as well as confronting the painful truths of her current situation. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, dialing the only person she could think of and who would come to her aid__ Her Bestfriend, Mariam. Mariam’s phone rang and rang, but there was no answer. Desperation clawed at Leah’s chest as she tried again and again, her heart sinking with each unanswered call. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Mariam picked up. “Mariam!” Leah cried, her voice choked with tears. ‘I have nowhere to go. They've thrown me out”. Mariams voice was filled with concern. “Leah, calm down. Come to my house. I'll text you the address. Just get here safely, okay?” Leah nodded, even though Mariam couldn't see her. “Thank you,” she whispered, relief flooding her heart. She received the address and flagged down a taxi. As the car sped through the streets, Leah's mind raced with memories of happier and sad times. The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror, her eyes filled with pain and tears. “Ma’am. You've reached your destination”. He said gently, bringing the car to a stop. But Leah didn't hear a word he said, she barely noticed. “Ma’am, you've reached your destination, he mentioned again…. Still went unnoticed. This prompted him to hit the car horn repeatedly which made her j******f from her thoughts. “I’m sorry" she apologized. Leah paid him and stepped out, her legs trembling. Before he drove off, he gave her a little motivation… “You will be fine, just keep hoping and thriving. Everything that has a beginning has an end too”. “Thank you so much sir, she replied. And he zoomed off. She found Mariam’s house and knocked on the door. Mrs. Adams, Mariam's mother, opened it and immediately pulled Leah into a comforting embrace. “My child, what happened. Why are you looking so pale?” Mrs. Adams asked, her voice gentle. “Leah broke down, her tears soaking Mrs. Adams blouse. “They threw me out. I have nowhere to go but here”. Mrs. Adams held her tightly. “You are safe here, Leah. But you have to let all this accumulated pain and sadness out”. Meanwhile, back at her former house, the celebration continued. The lawyer who had facilitated Leah's downfall was present, basking in the praise from Mary, Allison and Emily. “Is justice anywhere in the world? The weak will always be weak and the strong will always take over. The lawyer mused, his smile revealing his stained teeth. “All I care about right now is my money”. Alex nodded approvingly. “You’ve done well. I will add more money to what we discussed earlier. Few minutes later… “I've transferred 50,000 pounds to your account”. Allison said. The lawyer's eyes gleamed with greed, he felt satisfied with the amount. “Thank you, it was a pleasure doing business with you.” As the lawyer left, the remaining conspirators reveled in their victory. “I am happy we got everything back from her. I literally accommodated her in my house when my husband was alive, and she had the audacity to take everything that should belong to Emily. Who does that?” Mary said with annoyance. “I told you to relax. You didn't even have to do a thing. I took care of her and showed her she shouldn't mess with the hand that fed her. Now, she's a total loser, roaming the streets,” Alex said. “We've achieved our goals. At Least everything has returned back to its appropriate owner. No one will marry such a useless person. And if she eventually get married, he will be a nobody in the society,” Mary said laughing. “And the worst part is that she might even be a carrier now, if care is not taken, those dirty lowlives…. Sexually transmitted diseases are very real,” Emily replied. “I knew my husband was very competent,...said Emily, touching Allisons beards. I had full faith in him even when you were doubting thomas.” “Yws, now I have full faith in him to take good care of you. By the way, you should get married soon and give me grandchildren..” Mary replied. “Of Course mum, you don't have to worry about that. We're giving you twin boys and a girl”, Emily replied. Allison lifted Emily off her feet, spinning her around as they kissed passionately. While Mrs Mary stepped into the kitchen to serve herself some wine. “Now, I can call you my queen”, Alex said, his voice thick with desire. Let's get married tomorrow. Emily giggled. “That's too soon, baby. Lets get engaged first and plan the wedding later. “ You are talking as if this is not what you've always wanted. But you know I can engage you now and marry you tomorrow. You know I love you so much but I will still say whatever you want, my love, “Alex replied, his hands roaming over her body. “You own me now.” “Finally free”, Emily murmured, savoring the moment. “We can do whatever we want, wherever we want. Kitchen, sitting room, on the couch, and moreso, during Netflix and chill.” “We should have a quiet wedding and then organize a party to celebrate this victory. “What do you think, Emily?” Alex asked… “That's fine with me. I can't wait to flaunt my ring in front of Leah… That crazy b***h,” Emily said, clenching her fist. “Yes of course, my sweet sexy baby”... replied Allison As they planned their future engagement and wedding….. Leah sat in Mariams living room, her heart heavy with sorrow and agony. She had lost everything, and was warned to never step foot to her own father’s house. But a new determination was building within her. She would rise from the fall, stronger and wiser. And to those who had wronged her, she vowed that they would beg her and will one day worship the ground she walked on as well as face the consequences of their actions. In the process, Leah finds out another shocking news…...
