Chapter Ten

Alpha Nate "That's still my daughter," Atlas grumbled. "And I'm sure Luna Thea needs to smack your ass from time to time," I smirked, and my father roared in laughter. "She gets that defiance from her mother," he retorted. My father and I looked at each other before we both burst into laughter. "f**k off you two," he growled, which only made us laugh harder. "Nate!," I heard my name being yelled. I looked over to see Max walking towards us. "Max!," I greeted my old friend. "And where is your mermaid Luna?" he asked, looking around. "She's inside, with Luna Thea and my mother. I'm just getting my warriors settled." I replied. "All of these are yours? Are you going into battle?" he joked. "I'll tell you later. But now you can help.” He groaned as I slapped his back. “Oh come on, it’s only a few of them.” I chuckled as he grumbled. "You owe me. Are you sure Ayla doesn't have any hot mermaid friends?" he grinned, and I pushed him. "Oh, are you two talking about her sexy ex?" Ruby stepped around my truck with Mitch. I let out a growl and she shrugged. "He said, hot mermaid. I just assumed it was him." "Babe, really?" Mitch exclaimed, and she crossed her arms over her chest. She went to say something but I stopped her. "I hate that guy, so can you please just stop talking about him?" "Fine," she rolled her eyes. "Now, where is my wonderful sister?" "In the house with Mom and Luna," I answered. She pecked Mitch on the lips before rushing into the house. "I swear she is going to be the death of me," Mitch sighed. "You have no idea." My phone rang out, and I pulled it out to see Xander's name on the screen. My stomach sank. What could have happened now? "Xander?" I answered the phone. "Nate, I'm just checking in to ensure you made it to the pack safely. I would have called Ayla, but I would have heard her eyes rolling from there," he chuckled. "That was probably a good thing. We are here. Did you speak to the others? Should I send the warriors back?" My father and Atlas both gave me a confused look. "I have more warriors on their way here. Silas, Chase, and Kaden are on their way here now. Give me a few days to get a plan in motion and to get Kaden away from the pack. Keep the warriors with you, just in case. We don't need any more surprises." "Agreed." I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. I hated that fucker in my pack. "Everything will be okay, Nate. How is Ayla doing?" He asked, changing the subject. "I'll text you," I told him in code. I didn't need her father asking me questions. "I'll call in the morning after my meeting here. Keep me updated." He ended the call and I placed my phone back in my pocket. "For a man who gets laid, regularly, you sure are tense," I looked at Max and Atlas growled. "For f**k sake, Max," I pushed him and he laughed. "Dumbass," Mitch shook his head. "Well, I'm out. There's room in the warrior house," Atlas announced before heading into the pack house. "Just had to poke the Alpha," my father chuckled. "I just pointed out the obvious. Nate's the one being grumpy," Max shrugged. "Go get your warriors settled and meet us in the kitchen." My father said. "What, no help?" I called out as he walked towards the front door of the pack house. "You're a big boy, Alpha," he chuckled before heading inside. "f**k, it's good to see you, man," Mitch hugged me. Mitch and Max helped me get the warriors settled, and the vehicles parked away in the garage before we headed into the house. We walked into the pack house and I could hear laughter coming from the kitchen. I walked in to find my mate sitting at the dining room table with a baby in her arms and her sister, Rosie, in her lap. "And what is going on in here?" I leaned against the frame of the door. "Nate," Rosie squealed. She jumped off Ayla's lap and came running over to me. I scooped her up and placed her on my hip. "Hey, Rosie." "Nate, I have a sister. She's older than me. Her name is Ayla." She rushed out. "Ayla, this is my boyfriend, Nate," Rosie announced, and Ayla snorted a laugh. "I told you he was pretty," Rosie grinned. Everyone was laughing, with my mate laughing the hardest. She stood up from the table with one of her brothers cradled in her arms and came over to us. "Rosie, by the time you're old enough to find your mate, he's going to be so old," I glared at my mate. "Oh. Like daddy old?" the little girl asked and Atlas grumbled. "Like daddy old." Ayla nodded with a smirk. Rosie looked me right in the eyes. "I need someone younger, but you're still pretty," she shrugged. I put her down and she ran off, leaving me heartbroken. "I can't believe she broke up with me?" I gasped and Ayla burst into laughter. She wrapped her free arm around me and I pulled her close, kissing her forehead. "Awe, don't you two look like the perfect family?" The former Luna stepped into the kitchen from the backdoor. Her mate stepped in behind her. "Don't give them any ideas, Mom," Atlas told his mother, and I had to hide my smile. Little did he know this was going to be us in about four months. "Come on, everyone. Dinner is ready," my mother announced and Ayla's tummy grumbled. "I think our baby is hungry," I linked her, and she looked up at me. "I think I should speak to my father first." she linked. "After, baby. Let's get you and our baby fed."
