"You're in, right? I mean, there's no reason for you not to attend the dinner." Hayley nipped her phone between her head and her shoulder while gathering all of her things and putting it inside her bag. Class is over and she needs to go home to help Juhyun cook their dinner.
It's Saturday and once a month, their squad will alway held a dinner over their house, sometimes to Manoban or to Kang's house. But tonight, it will be on the Manoban. And Hayley needs to remind her best friend about the dinner since Jerry hinted her yesterday that he might not come because he's busy with his company.
Jerry went back to his life, being a member of the Royal family in their country, he sure does a lot of work to take care since he has been neglected for a lot of years. The Kim Group of companies belongs to Jerry's family and Hayley, though they are not related to each other, but their parents are business partners. Hayley decided to be a professor while Jerry stopped teaching and just handled their companies.
"I don't think so, but I'll try." Jerry replied, his body swaying along his swivel chair while his legs on top of his table and his hand playing with his pen.
"You already said yes last time!" Hayley groaned gutturally. "And you're going to bring Hannah, right?"
"I said that?" Jerry mocks, removing his legs on his table when he heard a knock on the door. "Look, I will try my best, okay? I still have a meeting tonight so maybe I'm going to be late." He said as he stood up and turned off the call.
A man in his early 50 pushed the door open, he invited himself inside and walked straight to Jerry's table, extending his arm. "Good evening, Mr. Kim." He greeted.
"Good evening, Mr. Tucker." Jerry reached for his hand with a smile and they did a handshake. "Please sit down."
"Actually, my daughter is with me and if you don't mind. Can I let her in? She's my heiress so she needed to learn as much as possible and this meeting might help her."
"Of course. Let her in." Jerry stated, motioning his hand before he took a seat. He was pulling his chair closer to his table and she didn't noticed the woman who entered his office.
"Good evening, Mr. Kim." The woman greeted him. Jerry darted his eyes up and was surprised to see Hannah, smiling all ears to him, wearing a red body hugging dress that showed the perfect curves of her body and 4 inch silver stiletto. She had her makeup on light since she doesn't need too much of it because she's all natural, her red kissable lips are one of the examples that she didn't need a thick lipstick, just a lip bum is enough.
"H-hey." Jerry fumbles in shock seeing the woman. "You're Mr. Tucker's daughter?"
"Yeah." Hannah smiled wider and she made her way to Jerry's table.
Jerry stood up and kissed the woman's cheek which surprised Mr. Tucker. "Do you know each other?" He asked.
"Yes, we're friends." Jerry chuckled in amusement. "I didn't know that she's your daughter."
"Well then, it's great to know that you already met." Mr. Tucker said and motioned his hand for her daughter to take the seat so they could start the meeting.
Hannah and Jerry keep glancing at each other then they will smile but will hide it quickly whenever Mr. Tucker will look at each one of them while explaining about his project. He's trying to convince Jerry to fund his project so even if he could see how his daughter will look at Jerry, he keeps pretending that he couldn't see them.
"So what can you say?" Mr. Tucker asked after he laid out all of his plans about his project and hoped that Jerry would agree to be his partner and help him to fund everything.
"Well, I must say that you really have a good plan and idea.." He paused for a moment, scanning the paper in his hand. It made Mr. Tucker a bit nervous, but when Jerry looked up to him, smiling widely, he knew he convinced the young CEO of the Kim Group. "Let's start it as soon as possible." Jerry said, sealing their deal with his signature on the contract and a handshake.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Kim!" Mr. Tucker was so grateful and happy that he convinced him to sign the contract. "I assure you that this project will be successful."
"I have no doubt." Jerry smiled, then he looked at Hannah. "So, have you learned something tonight?"
"Yeah." Hannah giggled because she knew to herself that she didn't understand a thing but pretended that she did.
"We'll go ahead then—."
"Uh actually, your daughter and I have a plan tonight. We already talked about it last week."
"What plan?" Mr. Tucker stared at his daughter.
"I will bring her to dinner with my friends, if you won't mind." Jerry answered, bowing to Mr. Tucker, and the latter was shocked to see that, he waved his hands furiously to stop the young CEO from bowing since he's literally his boss.
"Please, don't do that. You can bring my daughter but promise me that you'll take care of her." Mr. Tucker chuckled nervously, straightening Jerry's body then tapped the latter's shoulder. "Thank you and I should go. Enjoy the dinner you two." He said and he was the one who bowed to Jerry before kissing his daughter. "Enjoy sweetheart."
"Will do, Dad." Hannah replied and they bid a quick goodbye to Mr. Tucker.
"So ready to meet my friends?" Jerry asked, wearing her dark grey suit and fixing her necktie.
"As if I have a choice, you literally asked me from my Dad." Hannah snorted and they both laughed.
"Don't worry, I'll drive you home but no alcohol this time." Jerry said as he offered his arm. Hannah scoffed playfully but still wrapped her arm around Jerry's and they both walked out of the office.
They arrived at Manoban after a 20 minutes drive. Jerry pulled into the driveway and parked his car next to an unfamiliar car.
"Did they buy another car?" Jerry asked while eyeing the Tesla next to his car.
"Wait, I think I know whose car it is." Hannah said with furrowed eyebrows. "It's—."
"Finally!" Hayley's voice rings as she almost runs her way towards the two. "I really thought you're not gonna make it." She hit Jerry's shoulder playfully then her eyes shifted to the gorgeous woman standing next to her best friend. "You must be Hannah?"
"Ah yes and you're Hayley?" Hannah extended her arm and Hayley reached for it delightedly.
"Yes, it's nice to finally meet you." Hayley eyed Jerry teasingly then smiled again when she looked back at Hannah.
"Jerry says a lot of great things about you."
"He did? Wow, that's surprising. He always talk bad about me." The crimson haired woman laughed, slapping Jerry's shoulder. "We should go, everyone's inside already." Hayley said and she strutted her way back to their house and left the two.
"When did I say anything good about her?" Jerry asked.
"Oh please, women love it when someone talks good about them to another woman." Hannah rolled her eyes playfully which made Jerry chuckled and shook his head. He put his hand on Hannah's back carefully and ushered her inside.
"Hey, you came." Juhyun greeted the two when they got inside. She was rocking baby Seju in her arms, trying to put him to sleep since it's already past 8.
"Hannah, this is Juhyun and baby Seju." Jerry introduced me. Juhyun could only smile at the woman since she was holding her three months old baby.
"He's such an angel." Hannah said while staring at the baby with full amusement on her face.
"I know, right? I just hope that he won't get Seul-ki's traits."
"What about taking all my good traits huh?" Seul-ki appeared on their back, pushing the stroller so Juhyun could put their child into it since he's already asleep.
"This is Seul-ki." Jerry said, pointing at the older guy, showing a least interest to introduce him.
"Hi, we haven't had a chance to meet last time. Jerry didn't tell me that you're gorgeous—."
"Seul-ki, you already have a son." Juhyun sneered at her husband playfully.
"Dumbass." Jerry scoffed while Hannah giggled at the cuteness of the couple, especially when Juhyun smacked Seul-ki's head after they put Seju down in the stroller.
"Hey, I'm glad that you made it." Liam finally arrived from upstairs, carrying Akisha. He put the kid carefully before he leaned to give Hannah a kiss.
"My meeting ended earlier than expected." Jerry said, kneeling down to level the Akisha. "Hi princess—." Jerry was interrupted when Akisha punched his shoulder with her tiny fist. "What was that for?"
"You didn't pick me up from school today!" Akisha pouted, crossing her arms on her chest and looked away.
"I'm really sorry, Uncle Jerry had so much work today." Jerry said to woo the kid but Akisha ignored him and she looked up to Hannah.
"Hello Hannah, you're so beautiful tonight." Akisha praised.
"Just for tonight?" Hannah asked modestly, a teasing smile dancing on her lips.
"No, you're beautiful yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the rest of your life." Akisha giggled cutely which made everyone laugh for how cute she is.
"Oh honey, you are really cute!" Hannah beams, picking up the kid, not minding if her dress might get wrinkled. She showered Akisha with a lot of sweet kisses which made the kid giggle nonstop.
"Dinner is ready, we should get to the backyard." Liam announced. They all walked to the backyard but Liam let everyone go then he grabbed Jerry's arm and they walked behind.
"What?" Jerry asked.
"Please, don't make a scene when you see them." Liam says whispery to Jerry.
"Who?" Jerry asked with a creased forehead.
"Jayvee and Rosie."
"Oh so they really get back together?" Jerry chuckled.
"Yeah, so let's have a peaceful dinner, can you do that?" Liam sounded begging and looked at Jerry's eyes, searching for any violent reaction.
"I have a date, I would not make a scene tonight nor ever." Jerry wrapped his arm around Liam but when he was having difficulty because of their height difference, he unwrapped his arm and they both laughed.
There was a second of silence when they reached the backyard where their dinner was held. Jayvee was a bit surprised to see Hannah but the latter pretends that she didn't notice Jayvee as she keep playing with Akisha on her arms.
"Please everyone take a seat." Hayley said, easing the growing atmosphere. Hannah put down the kid next to Hayley, then Jerry pulled a chair for her and she thanked him, only to get surprised to see that she was literally sitting across Jayvee while Jerry was sitting across Rosie.
"Hi." Hannah greeted the couple across the table.
"Hi." Rosie replied, smiling forcedly at the woman and stopped herself from looking at Jerry.
"You already know each other?" Hayley asked but Rosie shook her head.
"Not totally, but I already saw her with Jerry."
"She's Hannah, Jayvee didn't mention her to you?" Jerry asked mockingly, which made Jayvee to close his fists under the table.
"Why? Does Jayvee know her?" Juhyun asked confusedly since she didn't really know about that story.
"I'm Jayvee's ex girlfriend." Hannah smiled, it was a genuine smile and no intention of ruining their night. She just wants to answer Juhyun's question.
"Oh." Hayley and Juhyun gasped since they were the only people who didn't know about it.
"Let's eat, shall we?" Liam said to break the thin ice that's becoming thick as the seconds goes by.
"So Hannah, what do you do for a living?" Hayley asked while they were eating. She had to start a conversation because she didn't like the atmosphere around them after that revelation which made their dinner become awkward.
"Nothing much for now, my Dad, who is Jerry's business partner will soon retire and he will pass me his company."
"Really? That's nice, if you don't mind, what company is it?"
"Emerald Incorporation."
"Wait, so you mean you own the highest condo building in Seoul?" Seul-ki asked in disbelief.
"My Dad is the owner, not me." Hannah said politely.
"It will be yours soon, so you don't have to be humble." Seul-ki said and they both laughed. "How about you Jayvee? What do you do for a living?"
"He's an idol, you idiot." Juhyun smacked Seul-ki's head again.
"What's wrong with asking it? I didn't know that he's an idol!" Seul-ki grumbles while rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, not all people know me. And that's totally understandable. But just in case you're wondering, I'm a singer, you know the movie 'I'm Lucky That I Found You?"
"Oh yes! That's my wife's favourite movie." Seul-ki said proudly.
"I was the one who sang their OST."
"Really?! Every time that song plays in every romantic scene, my wife always looks like she's about to pee on her pants!"
"You didn't have to expose me like that!" Juhyun growled at her husband and they all laughed.
"See? I really hope Seju won't take that from him." Jerry whispered to Hannah's ear. The woman giggled and she slapped Jerry's hand playfully.
"It's cute." She replied.
"Being so dumb will never be cute." Jerry said, making Hannah giggled again. They were not aware of the two pairs of eyes looking at them while they were whispering to each other. From those eyes, it looks like they are flirting but they are really not.
"I wrote that song for Rosie." Jayvee said as he turned his head and looked at Rosie.
"That's sweet." Hayley smiled warmly while looking at Rosie, who's still glaring at the two that already have their own world. "So Rosie, have you already talked to your parents about your marriage with Jayvee?"
"Babe.." Liam whispered to his wife who immediately realise what she had asked.
"Oh I'm s-sorry."
"For what?" Rosie scoffed.
"Yeah, for what? You guys can talk about marriage, you don't have to apologize for it." Jerry chimes in when he hears the topic, then he shrugs his shoulders, as if he's not really affected by it.
"We were going to stick to the plan, by the end of the month." Jayvee answered, putting his hand on top of Rosie's hand and squeezed it softly. "You okay with that, right?"
"Huh?"
"Wow congrats, cous. Our family would be glad to know that you're getting married." Jerry said. They didn't know if he's being sarcastic or what, but they chose to shut up and didn't meddle in their conversation because they know that it is the best decision.
"Thank you, I have already told my parents about it." Jayvee smiled half heartedly.
"That's great, so what did they tell you?" Jerry reached for the bottle of wine in the middle, then the corkscrew. He pierced the end to the wooden cork and started screwing it, popping the cap after.
"They were happy with it, even your parents." Jayvee smirked.
"As they should. Anyway, let's celebrate your upcoming wedding." Jerry lifted his wine glass after he poured it half full.
"Y-yeah, let's celebrate!" Hayley stammered, lifting her glass of juice then everyone followed them, toasting their glass against each other.
"You good?" Hannah whispered to Jerry.
"Of course, are you?" Jerry asked back. "Do you want to leave?"
"Not really, I was just worried about you."
"Oh please, I'm good. Actually, I'm really happy for both of them." Jerry sipped on his glass again after saying that, as if it made his throat dry suddenly.
"Your eyes are telling me otherwise." Hannah chuckled, putting her hand on Jerry's lap, as if she's trying to calm him even before the fire inside him could light up.
"I'm fine, Honey. As long as you're with me, I'll be fine." Jerry smiled at her while Hannah returned it with a sweeter smile as they looked at each other's eyes.
"How about you, Uncle Jerry?" Akisha suddenly asked, interrupting them two.
"Me?" Jerry tilted his head so he could see the kid behind Hannah.
"Yeah, you, when will you marry Hannah?"
Rosie suddenly got choked on her juice and she coughed violently.
"Are you okay?" Jayvee asked worriedly while rubbing Rosie's back.
"Y-yeah."
"I haven't proposed to her yet, honey." Jerry chuckled at the question but he admit, he was surprised by that question and Rosie's reaction.
"Why?" Akisha asked with her cute innocent face.
"Because she's not.." Jerry paused when he noticed Rosie and Jayvee looking at him and waiting for him to answer that question. "Because I haven't bought a ring yet."
"Wait— what? I thought she's not your girlfriend?" Liam asked in stunned surprise.
"She is my girlfriend." Jerry said, earning a ludicrous look from Hannah.
"Since when?" Jayvee asked.
"Yesterday."
"So you guys are new?" Jayvee laughed mockingly.
"Not totally, we've been together for almost a month now but we just put a label on our relationship yesterday." Jerry shrugged his shoulders but his hand was holding Hannah's, as if telling her to just ride with him.
"Is that true?" Jayvee turned to Hannah and the latter nodded her head agitatedly. "I'm happy for you then." He said, smirking at her because he knows Hannah better than anyone on the long table. So he knows that she was lying, Jerry is lying, and that made him feel proud for pissing off his cousin which ended with Jerry pretending to have a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
"Thank you." Hannah smiled at him when she saw the smirk tugged at Jayvee's lips then she turned to Jerry, cupping the guy's face. "I am so glad that we finally made it real." Hannah said while staring at Jerry's eyes, as if they are communicating through them. Jerry nodded his head and that's Hannah's cue to take an action. She leaned her face towards Jerry and gave him a chaste kiss.
Hayley quickly covered Akisha's eyes while Rosie stood up from her seat, dragging her chair and it fell on the ground behind her. Everyone looked up to her in shock but Rosie didn't say anything and she stormed out from their dinner. Jayvee glared at the fake couple before running after his fiancé.
Jerry smiled cockily, leaning back on his chair and sipped on his wine while watching the two walk-in away. "We won." He said after.
