Chapter 1

Thomas wakes up next to Selena, and takes a deep breath, taking in the scent of her hair. He can’t fathom why they've been fighting all this time.
“You do realize that you are creeping me out a little?” Her groggy voice brings him back to the present.
Thomas “Oh, am I huh?”
I pull her closer, kissing her ticklish spot just behind her ear and she bursts out in giggles. Squirming around in my grip she turns around to face me.
Selena “I had a dream about you, you know.”
Thomas “Oh? What did you dream?”
Selena “I dreamt that you asked me to be your wife.”
I take her hand with the ring on it and kiss the inside of her palm.
Thomas “That my darling Queen Vampire, was not a dream.”
I smile at her. Letting her go. I get up out of bed and start getting dressed.
Selena “Excuse me! Where do you think you’re going?”
Thomas “Home sweetheart. I still have a packhouse to get built and a lineage to research.”
Bending down I kiss her on her cheek and leave the room.

Okay… what just happened?! I look around the room feeling a bit lost. I agree to marry him and the next morning he leaves me high and dry. What happened to spend all day in bed?!
Selena “UGH!!”
I jump out of bed, get dressed, and storm out to my office. How dare he!! Slamming my office door behind me I hear someone saying something, but I’m too upset to listen. The door slowly creaks open.
Lucille “Is it safe?”
She looks around the opening of the door.
Selena “Oh… it’s you. Sorry.”
Lucille “Yes, me… Lucille, your best friend? What happened? You are supposed to be overly happy right now.”
Selena “He left!”
Lucille “What?”
Selena “Yes, you heard me. We were blissfully happy, then he gets up and leaves! Something to do with building a packhouse.”
Lucille “Okay, but that’s not leaving honey. That’s… just like going to work. Like you are doing now.”
She shrugs.
Selena “Lucille… it’s day one! And he left already!!”
Lucille “Okay… he left. What do you need me to do honey?”
I sigh, I know she is right, but why…
Selena “I guess we have to check on the pixies.”
Lucille “Yup, you have an appointment with Billy this morning. You wanted to make sure they were all settled back in their town and had everything they needed.”
Selena “Yes… that. Guess we better go then.”
I wave my hands in the air.
Selena “Leaving me alone on day one!”
I mumble when we walk out the front door of the castle.

Walking into my house, I hear voices coming from the kitchen.
Thomas “Honey, I’m home!”
Blaze “Coffee is on your desk, heard you coming from a mile away dude.”
Thomas “And so it starts early in the morning.”
I walk into my office and find a new table set up. My office has been completely rearranged and my desk faces my old dining room table with all the chairs around it. Am I going to kill them or thank them…?
Thomas “Who is the i***t cramping my style in my office?!”
I shout just as Brian walks in followed by none other than Ariel.
Thomas “What the f*ck is she doing here?!”
I growl in my Alpha voice ready to attack.
Ariel “Down boy, I’m here to help.”
She still has that arrogant attitude, even with me ready to rip her to pieces.
Brian “Thomas.”
Brian steps in front of me, immediately distracting me.
Brian “Hear me out. Lucille sent for her. There are some things you need to hear… you’re not going to like them, but you need to hear them non-the-less.”
Backing off I take my seat, keeping a close eye on her, a growl coming from deep within my throat.
Brian “I’m just going to get straight to the point. Ariel is the witch that enchanted your office.”
It takes me a second then I look at Brian as if he just lost the plot.
Thomas “Old hag… I know what I think of Ariel, but she sure as hell does not look like an old hag.”
Ariel “Personal feelings aside Thomas, I can look the way I want to. If you will allow me to show you?”
She stands up and I growl. Hesitating for a moment I give her a nod and she starts twirling like a ballerina and before my own eyes… she turns into what looks like an old hag…
Thomas “But why would you do such a thing?”
Ariel “Being a witch isn’t the safest of professions you know.”
She twirls again and looks like herself.
Thomas “Why didn’t you say anything before?”
Ariel “I’m a witch Thomas, not a psychic.”
She rolls her eyes at me.
Brian “Lucille was on one of her book expeditions in the library when she found the trail. We didn’t want to say anything until we had Ariel here.”
I sit there looking at all of them for a minute taking it all in.
Thomas “How long has all this been going on behind my back?!”
Brian “Thomas, you must understand, we meant no harm. We wanted to make sure of our facts before saying anything.”
I feel the anger boiling up inside me. Not only do I hate Ariel, but now I find out my pack went behind my back and made decisions on my behalf without consulting me!!
Thomas “Get out!! All of you!”
I swipe everything off my desk, making it fly through the air, as I watch them clear out of my office. Brian still tries to say something but leaves as soon as I show him my pearly white canines.
Taking in deep breaths of air, I hear a voice.
Azi “They should show more respect!! We are the King!”
I almost jump looking around me to see who said that, but I know I hear the voice speaking from inside me.
Thomas “Who are you?”
Azi “I’m Azi, your wolf. We should have met many years ago, but we were kept apart because of the spell. It seems now that the witch has finally returned, she has lifted the spell.”
He growls from within.
Thomas “I’m confused. How can I have a wolf but the others are wolves?”
I sit down on the chair and put my feet up on the desk.
Azi “That we will have to find out from the witch. We are supposed to be one like the others.”
This is too much to deal with! Coffee is not going to cut it! I walk into the living room and find Brian looking worried, walking a bunker the size of the Grand Canyon into my floor!
Thomas “Brian! What are you still doing here? I told you to get out!”
Brian “Alpha, we need to talk.”
I sigh. Knowing Brian, he is not going to leave until he has said what he wants to say.
Thomas “Fine, say what you have to say, then leave.”
I growl, still not happy with him, and walking in behind my bar to pour us a drink.
Brian “We didn’t mean to offend you.”
Thomas “You said that already.”
Brian “We wanted to find Ariel so we could get her to help unbind the spells on the house. Lucille was wondering if there was more hidden than what we can see.”
Azi “Your mate is too nosey!”
Brian’s eyes widen at the difference in the tone of my voice.
Brian “She was only trying to help Alpha. I apologize if her behavior has offended you.”
I can smell fear building in the room. How is that possible? I feel my skin starting to crawl as if the hair on my skin is standing up. What the hell is happening to me?!
Thomas “Brain! Get to it!”
Suddenly I need him to get out of the house… quickly.
Brian “Uhm, there are things Ariel has to show you. Do you remember the vials of blood? She still has them. She has agreed to help in finding everything about your past.”
Azi “Of course she has! That hag will do anything at the right price!”
I feel my canines starting to grow and Azi starting to push through stronger by the minute, and he doesn’t seem to like Brian.
Thomas “Brian, we can talk about this later. I don’t want to deal with it now. Just get out of here. NOW!”
He looks at me with fear in his eyes for the first time since… since ever.
Thomas “Azi! He is our friend. Why are you so angry at him?”
Azi “He is a Beta! He should not be talking to us as if we are his equal!”
Thomas “AZI! Things don’t work that way.”
I feel the anger boiling inside me as Azi claws to take over control and I fight to keep it. My canines fully protrude and my one ear shifts, my left hand, and arm changing making me drop the glass while I stumble past the bar, leaving a big gash in the side of the counter. I stumble in the direction of the kitchen, my vision blurring I fall over the couch, crushing the coffee table which has been standing since I was a baby. A table foot broken into a sharp stake drives through my shoulder. It draws on the last bit of energy I had to use to keep Azi at bay.
Feeling the bones start to crack and break as I shift and Azi takes control. I feel strength filling my muscles as they grow. My consciousness pushed back, Azi taking over. He smashes through the front door frame, leaving shards of wood flying, his claws scratching big gashes into the porch as he finds his footing to take off running into the territory.
Thomas “Azi! What are you doing?!”
I feel his anger burning through our skin. It’s nothing like any shift we had before. Energy flowing as we run, Azi lets out an earth-shattering howl…
~Selena~
My head snaps up at the sound of the howl. The Alpha King! If a vampire could look any paler I would! It’s true, he is the Alpha King and now he has found his Alpha wolf inside him.
Lucille “Selena?! Are you okay?”
Billy “Your Majesty? That is…?”
Selena “The Alpha King, yes Billy. We need to make sure your guards are doubled, just to be on the safe side. It might be Thomas, but we don’t know how his wolf will change him.”
I look at Lucille and she looks confused. There are things I didn’t share with everyone. But I’m sure the pixies know the story because of their Queen.
Billy “You don’t think that he will come after us? I mean the Queen isn’t here anymore.”
Selena “I don’t know Billy. Lucille, we need the wolves to return to the castle, send the coven to protect the pixies.”
Lucille “I… I don’t understand.”
I feel his presence, is it already too late?!
Selena “Now Lucille!! Now!!”
She disappears and I hear the wolves starting to growl, circling the town, instead of protecting it, like they were doing just a minute ago. He walks into town a soft growl from deep inside his chest.
Selena “Thomas, she isn’t here. You can’t hurt these people. They are innocent.”
Looking into his yellow shining eyes I don’t see any sign of the Thomas I love. Lucille arrives with the coven, and the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
He howls, the pack howling in reply, he turns his back and they follow him out of town. He is arrogant enough to think that we won’t attack when his back is turned.
When they are gone, the fear takes over through the town.
Selena “Billy, I would prefer you and your people to return to the castle where I can ensure your safety. I will leave the guards if you want to stay. If that is your wish.”
Billy looks at the men around him then at me.
Billy “We appreciate the offer your Majesty, but we have been living in fear for long enough. We will stay and appreciate your offer to assist with guards.”
Selena “Good. Lucille, make sure they have enough guards. Then come see me in the castle.”
I leave immediately making my way to the castle. I need to find out if…
I walk into the castle and find it empty of wolves. All that remains are Brian, David, and Cook…
Billy “I don’t understand.”
David “I do. He betrayed us!”
Selena “No! He did not! There are things you don’t know David, things he doesn’t even know.”
I look at the c*****e left behind. This day started so beautifully…
