"Bobb! Bobb!" shout calling and waving vigorously to catch his attention was his immediate sister. The senior witch. He did spot her upon stepping in, onto the durbar grounds, not that he was looking out for her, It's just her disturbing act to catch his attention desperately directed a flustered him's eyes to her. He was hoping he could play dumb and find a spot to be invisible to enjoy the festivities. However, they already had it laid for him, so we will not let him be. His nuisance of a sister drew unwarranted spotlights to him making it impossible to dodge. Many in attendance at the durbar both young and adults attention was being drawn to him by his annoying fleas of a sister.
"Eden ben amane hu nu kra nei? ↔️ "What kind of tribulation is this? why won't this girl let me be? since when did she make public acknowledgement of our relation? why is she creating unnecessary fuss drawing angry glares at me? if she had anything better to tell me or any information to relate to me couldn't she do that at home before coming here? Oh! Abeyie nsem sei na me kyere nu ..aaah! ↔️ Acts of witchcraft such as these do test even more .. Aaah! If looks could kill some of these guys here might have finished me as well as completed my burial rite within this brief seconds. I'd better make my way to her before even the elders who were on my side got irritated."
He couldn't be on the low nor pretend to not have noticed, he waved his right hand to let her know he was on route ... wishing he could rather reroute in him. Then made his way unenthusiastically awkwardly showing fake smile, grinding cuss words between his teeth moving towards her. Just to stop all the scornful glares being directed at him from some hateful youths. As he got closer, then did he realise his second junior sibling was with her including their partner in crime Takyewaa. He didn't fail to catch the senior witch bending on the side where Takye was to gossip something with a snobbish feature, while the other smiled shyly averting her gaze to look on the ground in front of her. He didn't appreciate what he just witnessed. A cold sensation settled in his sides giving him eerie goosebumps, then a weak frown was visible on his front. He didn't like what he saw but was left with no choice than approach them; if not the siren will go off on him again.
"The fool of a nerd you can't look past is on his way here, now that I have sent the first stone hope you're satisfied?" Abrefi yaa said chuckling with an eye roll. she resumed with a 'make it fast' gesture. Bobby eventually gets to them only to realise the vacant last spot left was one next to takye's. This didn't settle well with him at all since he now knew where he was to sit. he felt he shouldn't have taken the bold strides there rather he should have just a made U-turn going straight back home. He would have preferred position between his devilish sisters, since the devil you know is better than the angel 'oh! no! the demon' should be the correct diction in this case 'you know nothing of'. he contemplated the odds either to just go find another spot which there was none, go farther behind to stand or retrace his steps back where he came from. This time around, he could ignore her calls pretending he was angry at something she did to him when he approached her, before he could move the second witch coerced.
"Bla! Wa ba? Na te na ase ee."↔️ "Bra! You came? Then come have a seat here. we took great pain reserving this spot for you. 'tapping the seat beside her'. The program is about to commence take a seat you blocking the view of those behind us." Persuaded the junior witch Akoto yaa.
"No wonder the two of them share the same day of the birth .. Thursday." was what rung in his mind. He sat reluctantly in the end making sure no part of him touched Takye as if she was suffering leprosy. came through. However, not before the sickening voice of Takye came through.
"Ani! Akonja ni nyinaa asa. Won nya bebia ntena bio. Eha ye! na eye enim nsu, wube hunu bibia efre ha. Hihi! The na ase wai!" ↔️"Yes! All the chairs are occupied. You will not get any free spot again, besides this spot is good! it is also a front row seat. You will be able to have a better view of the performances from here. Hihihi! Sit down okay." She compressed persuasively wiping the chair clean with her hands for him. He gives her a stern look whiles hugging himself uncomfortably to avoid any bodily contact with Takye, feeling like crying whereas she spread so she could have contact with him. Had I known they always say comes last indeed!
The durbar began late-evening, there was display of cultural dance, drumming, plays. All too soon, the day light was getting lost behind the curtains of the horizon to make a way for the night. The time for the Palm wine tappers to bring their kegs arrived. Before one would know the large grounds became fragrant with the aroma of palm juice.
"Yeey! Me papa aba duru!" ↔️"Yeey! My father has arrived!" Squealing Takyewaa
"Owo hen?"↔️"Where is he?" inquired senior witch.
Takyewaa's father was a respected palm wine tapper in the village. Akwesi Nyantakye was his christining, which makes is link with his daughter obvious just by hearing their respective names. Anyone would know from their names they have a connection to each other. Akwesi Nyantakye named his offspring the female version of his name. He doted on his only daughter so much so. He was recognized due to his excellent tapping skills. Many who fell their palm tree due to one or two unfortunate reasons employed his services to tap juice from the SAP of the fallen palm tree for them, to their satisfaction. Akwesi was part of the selected tappers providing refreshments at the durbar grounds. He was a honest man contrary to his daughter's deceitful behaviour. To think that it is said 'the Apple doesn't fall far from under the tree?' this particular one rolled away alarmingly appearing under a bunch of bitter leaves plants ensued by adopting their bitterness. Funny how some of these sayings never apply to some people. Life! oh Life! There was nothing sweet about her unlike her father a morally upright man. she has strayed too farther. His presence meant another piece of the puzzle was in their hands. Their plan was moving steadily to the desired results. The next step was to get Bobby to drink some palm wine, which was not a difficult task. He was a male considered to be of the drinking age and he also enjoyed freshly tapped sweet palm sap juice. His father shared with him sometimes, when he ordered a keg from one of the best tappers Akwesi Nyantakye also his friend. He did this as a form of grooming for him. However, he never had out of limits to where he got tipsy, so he did not know his own limits. One thing was for sure though! the sweetness makes you forget it could make you loose your senses until you were completely consumed by it.
"Henfa na ogye na aa me nhu nu ye?"↔️"Where exactly is he standing that I am unable to see him?" Said second witch Akoto yaa. Bobby was seriously minding his business concentrating on the activities going on as much as avoiding the touch of Takyewaa.
"Me ba! Me ko shia nu na ma gye nsa fufuo nu bi aba ama ya num."↔️ "I am coming!" she excused herself, as she got up purposely using one of Bobby's knees as a prop saying "I am going to meet him" to ask for some sweet palm wine for us to drink". Bobby with a sour face rigorously rigorously wiped the spot she touched with his hands energetically as if it was a scoop of wet dirty mud she had dropped on him. This infuriated the senior witch who was watching all these while. she made a wicked comments in her head and showcasing an incredulous feature. she could not place what Takyewaa saw in her senior brother to make her want to go this far considering she was untouched. Being utterly judgemental to her own senior bro. she knew the girl was a niave and innocent on the dark side of everyone else. she was clean a clean girl just ask her junior sister but her association with her? which was to gain her brothers attention in the first place! made others painted her black including her brother. Her only flaw was to have fallen for her brother. Whom she promised to help her get and the only way she could possibly think of was the crooked plan in motion now which would mess everything up for good.
"Nea oo kyere bi! Wu nim nea eba anka was shie dadie kye!"↔️ "Imagined the impudence! 'she fumed.' If you knew what was to come from the skies? You'd be wearing a metal hat!" She thought being unreasonably critical at that moment.
"Ko na bra, na me kywen wo."↔️" Go, come! I am waiting for you, don't take long."She could not wait to teach her blood bro a lesson! One uncalled for.
"I can't wait to taste her father's sweet wine. It was always great and went down well. I am always in anticipation for it." second witch Akoto yaa admitted excitedly! only for her joy to be crushed almost instantly.
"That is all you know how to do! Always free loading from people!" barked the senior witch Abrefi yaa.
"Aaah! Sister! Aden? Bo ni Ben na ma ye wo? Da via na wu didi me atem. Be guam a ye wo nsu Wu gu me nim ase saa dei Aden?" ↔️ "Aaah! Sister! Why? Did I offend you in any way? You are always criticizing then looking down on me! How can you disgrace me in the public's view like this.? Did I do or say something untoward?" she asked innocently Close to the point of tears. Her last question disgusted Bobby.
" So she doesn't think talking like an alcohol connoisseur in the naked glare of the crowd as a female was bad image enough?" He scoff condescendingly thinking she was dispeakable.
"Ooh! Fa fre me su ma me gywen!"↔️"Ooh! Get out of my face let me think!" snobbing her little sis.
"This is not fair! In fact, it doesn't suit you Sister. You are always picking up on me. Is it a crime to have been born after you?" Bitterly complained Akoto Yaa.
"Wu gu su gyimei aa, me bobo wu woha wait." ↔️ "If you keep daring me here anymore, I will discipline you." Warned the senior witch.
Abrefi yaa, was was just trying to deter their junior sister from drinking so they could have enough reserve to push through their diabolical setup. Takyewaa would provide more than enough for them to drink later yet their victim or sitting right next to them,so she could not voice it out. Instead, she employed the play on emotions to execute her leash on her sister. she was provoking her knowingly to make her decide of her own accord, she was not going to take something she was abused for! especially anything that went through her mouth. she had refused to eat more times than they could count, just for receiving the insult of an epicure from either their father or mother. However, Bobby could not stand the eardrum wrecking high-pitched but controlled voices anymore than to step in as a senior brother.
