Ian looked at Rick.
“They are coming for Liam. He is in danger. I need to take him away.”
Rick saw Mark coming towards the hospital.
“What do we do now?” Gray asked, trying to hide his fears.
“It’s your territory. I don’t want to interfere, plus I am just a private detective.” Ian said sarcastically.
“I am sorry I got you guys wrong.” Gray said. “He is coming here!”
“You can’t do anything other than fire shots at him and you know what? Mark is not just another werewolf. He is a force to reckon with and one of the most heartless souls I have ever met. It is us he wants. I will divert him and try to save Liam.”
“That sounds like a nice idea comrade. Good thinking.” Gray said
“Why you?” Rick asked.
“We have no time. Take the girl away.”
Ian turned at Liam. “Come with me.”
“Please tell me before you leave.” Rick said
Ian knew he could not hide this anymore. Sooner or later they would find out and it seemed that was now.
“They consider me as a traitor.” He said. “Because I protect humans.”
“You are…”
“Yes, I am one of them.” He dropped the nickel. “Come on kid.”
Ian moved to the entrance. “I don’t want any showdown here. There are lots of civilians and sick people. See you later.”
He came out through the entrance and made Liam stand behind him.
“Come on, kiddo.” Ian said, “get on my back.”
“What?”
“I said get on my back and don’t be stubborn.”
“That will slow you down. I can run myself.”
Liam turned and saw Mark coming towards them.
“Mark!” Boris called with a sharp note in his voice. “We can get them later but we need to leave for now. We have what you came for.’
“This is an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, Boris. The old man would be happy to have Ian dead.’
“Ian is not an easy kill and you know that.’
“Now you challenge me, Boris.’
“I know you and Ian have a long history but duty first.”
“This is duty. He is a threat to Wolvercania and our entire race. The kid killed our men, imagine that? An ordinary cursed being called human.”
Boris was walking after Mark as they talked.
“Mark we are not wolves but human with exceptional powers. You are taking this personally.”
“And they treat us like s**t. For how long did you hide your identity? Even the traitor hides his. I am not human but a super human and it is not about my personal ego but love for my race...|”
“I command you to stand down. The old man asked me to put you in check.”
Mark turned swiftly.
“I obey the old man and not you. He asked me to kill Ian after we get the hard disc.’
“I know but the situation is not conducive. Let us plan for that another time. The hard disc is more important.”
“I am glad you accept that the old man gave such an order and you are wasting my time. Look, Ian is carrying the boy and that means they want to escape.’
“I am coming with you.” Daniel said to Mark.
“Let me have the hard disc.” Boris said.
Daniel looked at Boris.
“That is not part of the order. The disc remains with me.”
“I am only saying that for safe keeping.”
“Thanks for your concern but it’s going to be fine. I am the only one who can interpret most of the codes so of what use is it if I die and live it with you.”
“No one said you are going to die. But it can get crashed.”
“Now you let him out of my sight!” Mark said as he saw Ian carry Liam and they ran away.
“But he can’t run away from me!” Mark said and broke into a run. Daniel followed.
Boris grimaced.
“You guys can leave.” He said into a mouthpiece to his men. “We have an unfinished business.” He said and ran after Mark and Daniel.

The large construction site was deserted after the owner went bankrupt and the project was forced to abandonment. Liam was sitting alone in one of the empty room on the first floor. That was the place Ian asked him to wait.
The speed at which Ian moved was amazing. He had asked him to climb his back and asked him to close his eyes. Ian then broke into a run and Liam used Ian’s back as windshield. Within a few seconds, they had travelled over sixty kilometers.
After they arrived here, Ian said, “you will stay put here. I will call Pegg, remember him?”
Liam had nodded.
“I will give him your coordinate. He will come and pick you to safety. You must remain here and wait for him. Your life is danger. I need to leave here quickly and send them away. Take this…” Ian gave him a gun. “Stay alive and listen, do not keep facts from next time. All of these would have been avoided if you gave the drive to me when I asked”
“I did not know if I could trust you.”
“Now that is done. I have to go.”
He began to call Pegg.
“Pegg, Liam is in an abandoned building at the Green Bay Site. I am sending you the point of location right now. He is in danger. You will find him on the first floor. Come and pick him to the quarters. I think Boris and his gang are coming after me.”
“Where are you right now, sir? Do you need a back up?”
“I am going out the building right now. I want to lead them away so the boy can be saved and yes I need a backup because I don’t know what they are up to.”
“Done sir.” Pegg said and ended the call ended. He dialed another number.
“Mr. Boris. Ian just called. I got his location and he told me where the boy is hiding. He wants me to go fetch the boy for safety.”
“Very good news~” Boris said. “Get the boy and kill him.”
“No!” Mark who was listening said. They were standing on a small field because they lost Ian’s tracks. “Get the boy, and call me. I will kill him myself.”
“Yes Sir.” Pegg said.
“You are doing a good job Pegg. I will tell the old and after we get rid of Ian, you will be free to join us in Wolvercania.”
Pegg smiled at himself. That was his dream. He was tired of living among pure humans and working with a traitor.
“Thank you sir.” He said. “I hope that happens today.”
“It shall happen.” Boris said. “Now go for the boy.”
“Right now, Sir.” Pegg said and wore his trench coat, hat and left the office. He got on his bike and rode away.
He arrived at the site and saw the building. His heart was racing faster. This was one of his greatest days. A day he would be instrumental to the end of two great werewolf foes. It was day that would lead him unto the next level.
He regretted not asking Ian for Liam’s phone number. That would have made it easier to locate him in this big building. He stopped the bike in front of the building and looked round the deserted area.
He went in through the open entrance which had no door. He climbed to the first floor and stopped.
“Liam!” He called and his voice echoed.
That was loud enough to make Liam hear him.
“It’s Pegg. Ian sent me to get you.”
He got no response. He was now moving slowly.
“Liam! We need to get out of here pronto! Your life is in danger and you know that.”
After ten minutes of shouting and searching rooms, he began to have a feeling that Liam was not there.
What was going on?
He dialed Ian’s number but there was no pick even after it rang several times.
His phone rang.
Shsit! It was Boris.
“Boris.” Pegg said.
“Did you find him?”
“Not yet sir.’
“You need to do that unfailingly. We can’t find Ian. Give him a call.’
“I did but he did not pick. Let me do that again.”
He dialed Ian’s number again but there was no pick.
“He is not picking my calls.” Pegg said.
“What are they up to? Okay, get the boy. We will get Ian some other time and this means you will remain with him until he is gotten rid of. We need you with him.’
Pegg grimaced.
“Yes, sir.” His hand squeezed the phone. “I understand.”
“Good. Now get the boy. We will wait for twenty minutes.”
“Okay sir.” Pegg said and ended the call. “If he calls me, I will let you know where he is.”
“You mean Ian?”
‘Yes sir.”
Now Pegg felt so angry.
“Liam!” He shouted at the top of his voice. He was sure about two things. It’s either Liam was out of here or he is too scared to answer. He began to look at the sole impressions.
He saw Ian’s sole impression and a second one which was probably Liam’s. He traced them to one of the rooms he had searched before. No doubt Liam and Ian had been in the room. Then he saw Lima’s impressions again which was at the opposite direction. Ian had his sole impressions on two opposite directions. That man he had come and gone back which was explainable. Liam also had his sole impressions facing opposite directions. That meant he had also gone out.
Damn! That kid was obstinate and rebellious. He was asked to wait for him and now he seemed to have left.
There was no need to waste a single second. He traced the prints and went downstairs. He followed it for a while and realized that he had walked towards the west.
He got on his bike and began to trace the prints.
*****
The phone chimed and Liam picked.
“Liam where are you?” Ian’s asked in his deep voice.
“I am trying to find my way home.” Liam said.
“I asked you to wait for Pegg.”
“I am sorry but I just did not feel safe waiting. I just want to be off.”
“I just called him and he said he is searching for you.”
“I think he should not bother. I am off already.”
“You don’t know what you are up to. Do you think you will be safe at home? They know where you live.”
“s**t! What the hell did I get myself into?” Liam lamented. “You mean I can’t live my normal life again?”
“That is not for me to decide. You saw what happened and you killed two of their men. They won’t rest until you they find you and if everyone would let you go, Mark will not.”
“Where are you? I don’t like Pegg.”
“I am at the site. I came back for you and did not find you so I called Pegg. He called me twice but could not pick because I was in motion and you know how fast we move.”
“You mean they did not come after us?”
“I don’t know. I guess they lost my tracks but they definitely did. Tell me where exactly you are so I can inform Pegg.”
Liam looked round.
“Garry Park Avenue. I am trying to get a cab but I do not have money.”
“Okay, put on your phone location and I will send your contact to him. We need to figure out how you can live safely again but I do not advise you to go back home now. The choice is yours though.”
“Okay.”
Liam took in a deep breath and put on his phone location. He took a few steps and sat on a pew. He was tired after covering about three kilometers on foot. He was also famished and all he wanted was to go home and freshen up.
That was when he received another phone call. It was his mother.
“Liam where are you?” She asked and there was a sharp note in her voice “We have been trying to reach you. Are you safe?”
“I am fine mom.”
“Thank God! I and your father are with the police and no one seems to know where you are. What is going on? They you killed two people and you had their hard drive. You said it was an accident even though we had our doubts because your story did not add up. What did you get yourself into?”
“Mom I can’t talk about it right now?”
“I need to know the truth. Is it true that you had a girl in the house for days? I am with Detective Rick and as your parents, he told us everything.’
“What did he say to you?”
“You know what he said. The girl you had is said to be a werewolf and now you took their hard drive or something. I never believed in werewolf until I saw it on the TV. Oh my God! Is it true?”
“Yes mom but I did not know who or what she was. I only found out after she left and they have the hard drive.”
“Liam they said you killed two of their men that night and now, because you had their hard disc, they attacked the hospital and you know what happened. Now we can’t go home because they feel we are not safe. That means I or your father can’t go back to work until only-God-knows-when.”
“Mom stop talking like I had it all planned or did it on purpose.”
“Okay you need to tell us where you are so the police can come and fetch you. Are you with the big man?’
“What big man?”
“The man they call Ian. They said he is part of them.”
“Liam I don’t trust him. He is not human and nobody knows what he is up to.”
“He is only trying to save us. They think he is a traitor…”
“Just tell us where you are. I have Detective Rick here.”
“My Location I one. They can track me.”
“Okay, just hang on there.” She said. “He can hear you.”
“Okay mom.”
“I love you, Liam.’
“I love you too mom.”
*****
Liam sat on the pew with his hands across his shoulders. He was glad the police were coming for him. He just wanted to find a place to freshen up.
God! He was losing his freedom.
It was at that point he saw the short stocky man with sunshades: Pegg
Pegg alighted from the bike and Liam could feel his eyes on him from behind the glasses.
Pegg put a call through. Liam did not hear him say, “I got the boy.” And Pegg said this while he smiled at Liam as he walked slowly towards him. “Please do not make any mistake.”
“Hello Liam.” Pegg said as he got to where Liam was. “I have been looking for you.”
“I had to leave.”
“Ian asked me to pick you up. The bad guys are looking for you. The police can’t help you.”
“They are not immortal.”
“Yes you killed two and that hurt them but the guys out there are not just like every werewolf. You could have made this easier by giving us the disc the very moment we asked.”
“I am hungry.” Liam said.
Pegg looked around. There were shops around with people moving around. Guying food for him would buy time for Mark to come and get him,
“I see a restaurant across the road. May we?”
“I do not have any money on me.”
Pegg smiled.
“I will foot the bill. Come on.”
Liam got on his feet and they walked across the road and got into the restaurant.
They sat at a table and a waiter attended to them.
Liam studied the menu and said, “Philly Cheesesteak, barbecue ribs and a glass of Willy Wonka.”
The waiter looked at Pegg.
“Summer berry red wine.”
The waited nodded and left. The few minutes wait seemed like a year to Liam.
They were served and Liam pounced on the food.
“You are one of them right?” Liam said as he ate.
“One of what?”
“The werewolf.. .”
“Shhh…lower your voice.”
“No one can hear us.’
“Who gave you that idea?”
“Ian came out to the open and you guys are together.”
“He came out? Where? At the hospital?”
“Yeah. He had no choice. All of you guys there came out. Boris, Mark and everyone knew about Daniel.”
“Did they transform there?”
“No but they exhibited super powers and I guess it is all on news.”
“s**t!” Pegg exclaimed. He just had to leave this world and go to Wolvercania but not every werewolf was welcomed there. He had to earn their trust. Thanks to traitors like Ian whom is part of the werewolves that side with humans.
He was glad they would settle it today. He was not suspected to be a werewolf and this meant his freedom was thwarted. He was the only werewolf living in his neighborhood.
“Yes but we are the good guys. We love you humans and you can testify to that.”
“Where is Gina?”
Pegg chuckled.
“You saw her run away from us. How will I know that?”
The meal was over.
“Excuse me. I need to get a stick of cigarette.”
He got up and went outside. He removed a stick of cigarette from his pocket and lit it. He dialed his phone.
“Boris, where is Mark?”
“He is on his way. He has your location.’
Pegg smiled.
“Very good. I am told you guys came out.”
“We have past hiding. We want the days of transforming only in the night and under the full moon over. There is are two words in play here, Pegg. Evolution and revolution. Mark is on his way to get the boy dead and that means we are coming together. Ian is a coward.”
“But I gave you his location.”
“He escaped.”
“You said I can only leave when he is dead. If he finds out that I betrayed him, he won’t trust me. He will kill me.”
“He won’t know about that. You will make a sacrifice and that means we will hit you. You will be compensated.”
Pegg grimaced.
“Okay but you should hit me and not Mark. He is too dangerous.”
Boris chuckled.
“don’t worry, I would handle you.”
“Thank you Boris. I want to get out of this world.’
“You will leave when the time comes.”
“But Ian is now known. That means I will be known too.’
“We deal and live with humans, right. It does not mean that every person that deals with a werewolf is one. The kid was in a relationship with Gina and he is human. I lived with humans most part of my life. Just stay put and wait for others. We will be there soon.”
“Okay sir.” Pegg said and inhaled cigarette.
He went back into the restaurant said, we could leave. I value my bike.”
“Where are we going to?”
“I called for backup. Mark is dangerous and I may not have the power to stop him alone, plus he is with Daniel and Boris. These are top Wolvercanians and they are powerful. When the backups come, we leave.”
“I think you can leave. I will be fine.” Liam said.
“What are you talking about?”
“The police are on their way to pick me.”
Pegg frowned.
“Balderdash! You saw what happened at the hospital. They can’t help you.”
“I know what I saw.” Liam said. “Thanks for the meal.”
Liam began to dial a number but Pegg swiftly snatched the phone.
“What the f**k are you doing?” Liam barked.
“I am ordered to take you to safety.”
“I do not want that! Give me back my phone!”
“No! you don’t know what you are doing.”
Liam removed a gun and pointed it at him.
“Give me back my phone or I will shoot you right in the head!”
Pegg did not want to create a scene. He threw the phone at Liam who collected it and turned.
Pegg grumbled.
What the hell was wrong with Boris and the gang? He could not show his powers here and they were not around.
Then he saw a police car pull up.
Shit! It was Rick and Gray.
Liam saw them and wove at them.
“I will take it over from here.” Pegg heard and turned to see Mark standing behind him. This guy was intimidating. He was feared even amongst the werewolf community. But Pegg was glad to see him. Pegg saw Boris and Daniel in a car that was pulled up behind his bike
“We are late. We had to get a car. We have to give you a cover.” Mark said, his fierce, red eyes on Liam.
“A cover?”
“Yes!”
Boop!
Mark smacked Pegg and sent his knee unto his stomach. Pegg imagines sparkling particles before he dropped on the floor.
That was to make Pegg look like a victim. They still needed him among humans.
Mark moved towards Liam.
