After a few days, their was very little improvement with my legs. I still had next to no feeling. Reece's family helped so much, they practised walking with me the whole time. The darts of pain were regular, which is why the doctor prescribed the very strong pain killers, they work like a charm. I can wiggle my toes, but that's about it. "I promise River, just keep trying." Reece had an arm around my waist, while my arm was around his shoulder. He was helping me to try and walk. I knew this wasn't going anywhere, I need to just come to terms with the fact that I won't ever walk again. "Just forget it," I moaned taking my arm from around his shoulder, but quickly putting it back once I lose my balance. "River?" A voice called from inside the house. "Yeah?" I called back. "There is someone here to see you." His mum shouted back. Who could be here to see me? Once I was placed back into my wheelchair, I wheeled myself into the house, making my way over to the door. Once I reached the door, I couldn't help but dramatically gasp. It was Kylie. "What do you want?" Reece said, gently resting his hand on my shoulder. "I miss you Reecey." She said, strutting over to him. I felt him tense next to me. "You know how much I hate being called that," he said 'that' with such venom, it even made me frightened. "How come you didn't text me or call me, to meet up?" Even I knew what she meant be 'meet up', as for Reece, he didn't seem interested whatsoever. "What are you doing here Kylie?" He put a hand to his head, as if she was giving him a headache, well if I'm honest, she was certainly giving me one. "What am I doing here? More like what is she doing here?" She pointed at me, but contuined looking at Reece. "She has a name Kylie," I saw him clench his fists, is he getting angry? Because of me? "She is still sitting right here, look Leah said you're here to see me, not Reece, so what do you want?" Reece's head snapped to look at me, I can't blame him. Even I was surprised by what I said. As for Kylie, she was staring at me fire burning through her eyes. "Listen, I don't care who you think you are, but you stay stay away fom Reece," I think she must of forgot that Reece was standing their, because as soon as she looked at him, her face turned bright red. "How dare you, you do not tell River what to do, and what not to do," he took a threatening step towards Kylie, I felt so helpless. "Reece it's fine,-" I knew he was going to cut me off, why do I bother trying? "No River, it's not fine," he said. Even Kylie looked scared. "Just leave Kylie," he pointed towards the door, but his mum, Leah, came in. "Kylie dear, would you like to stay for dinner?" No no no no no. "I mean, we have plenty of food to go around." "MUM!" Reece shrieked in an unmanly girly way. "Pipe down Reece, I'm right next to you, no need to shout," she put a hand to her ear, as if him shouting hurt it. "She is not staying," he said, quieter this time. "Actually," I knew by the look on Kylie's face she had something planned. "I did fly all the way over here, and I am hungry." Reece narrowed his eyes at her, if looks could kill, Kylie would be six feet under. "We'll come on then," his mum clapped her hands, "let's get eating." "Yeah, come on Reece." She looped an arm in around Reece's, so she was now linking with him. Reece immediately shook her off, and came behind me. "Are you ok?" He leaves down, so he was whispering into my ear. "I'm fine, it would be great if she could leave." I whispered back. "I know," he sighed, rubbing my shoulder. •~•~• "I never knew Reece had a girlfriend," his mum said. "Neither did I, why didn't you tell me bro?" His eyes snapped to look at him, a flash of hurt in his eyes. "She isn't, and never was, my girlfriend," Reece said, glaring at Kylie. "He used to text me every night, wanting me to come over and,-" I couldn't take this anymore, the jealousy was too much. "ENOUGH!" I shrieked, earning a smirk from Kylie. All eyes were on me now, but I didn't care. "ARE YOU THAT MUCH OF A STALKER THAT YOU FOUND OUT WHERE HE LIVES? HOW IN GODS NAME DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHERE HE LIVES?" I continued to scream. Kylie's smirk fell as soon as I asked that question. River = 1, Kylie = 0. "Actually, how do you know where I live?" Reece asked, c*****g his head to the side. "I never told you, ever?" "A-ahm, I-I can't remember," she stuttered, all of a sudden turning quite. "I'm sure you t-told me at s-some stage," she stammered once again. "Ugh for gods sake," I laughed, rolling my eyes, "you're such a stalker," I snorted unattractively. "I AM NOT!" She screamed. "Yes you are! You clearly found out some way where Reece lives, just because you're jealous," I shrugged, and smirked, like the proud peacock I was. "Shut up, just because you've wheels for feet, no guy is ever going to like a girl on a wheelchair, simple as." I hate to admit it, but that hurt. The only reason it hurt, is because it's true. But I didn't let it show, I continue to look like she didn't phase me. "Kylie, I think you should leave," his mum said, getting up from the table. "Yeah, I think so too," Reece said, while clenching his fists in anger. "Me three," his brother said, raising his hand. After she left, Leah came over to me. "I'm so sorry River, I didn't know who she was, she said she wanted to speak to you, I thought she was a friend of yours," she said, guilt all over her face. "Honestly Leah, it's perfectly okay," I smiled, a genuine smile. Then Sandy started bawling crying. I guess I better go wheel myself over to tend to my sisters needs. •~•~• "What's her problem?" I asked, while he helped me to get into bed. "She likes me," he laughed. After I got into bed, he settled into his own bed. "No s**t," I laughed back. I liked our late night conversations, they always happened when I was in my bed, and he was on the mattress left on the ground. "Personally, I think it's obsessed, and creepy." I was happy to hear him laugh at that, at least someone finds me funny. "You know, I never thought you could get jealous," he said. I froze, what the hell do I say back to that? "HAAAA! Good joke," brilliant River, well freaking done. "It's okay River, I do that to girls." He said smugly. "Well I guess I ain't a girl, because you are certainly not doing that to me." I waited a few seconds before closing my eyes, he must of gone to sleep. "You know River, I like you." He means as a friend River, don't get so excited. "I like you too Reece," I smiled. Only difference was, I liked Reece a lot more than a friend. "Oh yeah and River?" "Mmhh?" "Goodnight, sweet dreams," he said. "Goodnight, sweet dreams." I replied. I stayed staring at the ceiling for about 10, 15 minutes. I had a massive smile plastered on my face. Because of Reece.
