5 Jonah couldn’t have heard her right. “What?” Rachel knit her hands together, color rising to her cheeks. “I was trying to avoid you when I went in early.” “Why?” “I was embarrassed.” The color in her cheeks and the twisting of her fingers made it clear she was still embarrassed. “We’re friends, and I shouldn’t have tried to change that.
