Chapter 13

Dunya’s POV I wanted to sit down for a bit, my feet were killing me in these heels. I went to a table, sat down and started massaging my calf's down to my ankle. I noticed someone sitting down in front of me and I thought it was Daniel again, who had been clearly following me around all day. “Stop following me, please.” I look up to notice a tall tan handsome man in a marine suit sitting there and staring at me with a grin. He reminded me of Daniel, they had a lot of same features, he’s really tall and his body looks really toned. “Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were someone else”. I say shyly. “You’re not from around here, are you?” he says with a grin eyeing me up and down and staring clearly at my cleavage. “Er... No” I say and pull up my dress, even though it’s no help. “I’m Kristopher, and who might you be?” He leans in closer still clearly staring. “I’m Dunya” I answer embarrassed. He takes my hand into his and kisses the back of my palm. “Nice to meet you. Dunya is a lovely name and suits perfectly a lovely lady like you.” He says still holding my hand. Is he flirting with me? I manage to pull my hand back from his grip and give him a fake smile. “Thanks.” There´s something about him, not quite sitting well with me. He leans back on his chair and licks his lower lip. Suddenly, he takes his seat and moves it closer to mine. “So, why are you sitting here all by yourself Dunya?” He asks while practically eye f*****g me. Layla, where the hell are you? “I-I just wanted to sit alone for a while.” I say emphasizing the word alone, but he pays no attention to it. “It’s not safe for a beautiful woman such as yourself to be all alone in a strange place.” he winks at me. Ew, what a smug guy. I look around for someone, anyone to come and rescue me. He leans in closer to me, putting his hand on my leg. Chills and not the good kinds run though my body. I grab his hand to push it off of my leg. I hear a growl coming from Daniel, who is suddenly standing near us, pissed as f**k. “Get your hands off of her Kris!” he growls. Thank God he is here. Kristopher leans back and turns to very pissed off Daniel, not lifting his hand and chuckles. “Danny my boy! There you are!” he smiles. “You two know each other?” he asks, looks at me with a grin and turns to Daniel. “I said, get your hand off of her!” Daniel growls louder and steps closer. “We’re just talking, and she doesn’t mind” he looks at me. “Do you, darling?” what an ass. Yes, I do mind! “It wasn’t a question!” Daniel shouts before I can get a word out of my mouth and puts his hands on Kristopher’s shoulders, tugging him away and onto the ground. I yelp in shock and stand up, putting my hands over my mouth. I didn’t expect him to get violent like that, even though it isn’t the first time. Kristopher stands up, dusting himself off and looks at Daniel angrily. “What the hell is your problem?” he growls at him. Daniel puts his hand around my waist and pulls me close to his side, not letting me go. “She’s mine!” he growls at Kristopher. Wait what? I’m his? I disengage myself from his grip, step away from him crossing my hands over my chest. “I’m not yours. What the hell?” I practically yell with an annoyance in my tone. Kristopher comes closer to me grinning once more. “The lady says she’s not yours. So why won't you just move along and let us continue our chat.” He slithers his hand on my lower back, barely above my ass and grins. Well s**t, this isn’t what I meant. Daniel growls again, and yanks my hand, pulling me away from Kristopher. “She’s my mate!” he growls and squeezes my wrist a little too tightly, making me yelp. I’m his mate? What the hell is he doing? “Ow, Daniel, you’re hurting me.” I say and try to pull my hand away. His eyes widen with shock from my words, and he immediately let's go of my wrist. I rub my wrist and see Daniel’s handprint on it. Layla and Amelia walk to us quickly, as they probably saw and heard the whole situation. Layla puts her arms around me and leads me away from them. “Come, let’s put some ice on this.” she says as we walk away. I’m still in a hearing distance from Daniel and hear him say “Don’t you ever touch her!” This guy clearly has some anger management issues, one more reason to be glad I chose Elijah. I could have handled that situation with a lot less yelling and testosterone. We head inside and to the kitchen, to find some ice. I rub my wrist again, but somehow it doesn’t hurt anymore. “Layla I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt anymore.” she comes and looks at it closer. “He just held on too tightly, it’s okay.” She looks with worry in her eyes. “He was just trying to protect you from him.” She pulls out a bar stool for me and I sit down. “I know, I would’ve managed myself.” I say with shrug. “He didn’t really do anything, he just got too close for the comfort.” I continue and look at my wrist again. It was really hurt just a second ago, how is it all healed? “Yeah, that’s Kristopher alright.” she rolls her eyes and shakes her head. “Just because he’s alph... so handsome, he thinks he can get any girl he likes. Douche.” she looks at me irritated. “How do you know him?” “He’s our cousin and he used to be really nice, but now he thinks he’s the king of the world.” she rolls her eyes again. I thought he looked like Daniel, no wonder. Amelia walks in and smiles as she sees us. “There you are! I separated the boys and they’re both on timeout” she comes and sits next to me in front of the kitchen island. “You are really something, aren’t you?” she smiles. Umm, okay. What’s your problem? “Can I please read you now?” she claps her hands excitedly. “Umm, sure...” I say and she immediately puts her hands on my head. “Close your eyes and clear your mind.” I do as I’m told, feeling awkward of this whole situation as I sit there and wait for her to say something. “Clear your mind Dunya.” she commands. Clear my mind? What does that even mean. “I don’t know how. This is really stupid...” I say and open my eyes. “Just breath in deeply and try not to think about anything. Just concentrate on your breathing.” she says and looks me in the eyes. “And eyes closed!” Ugh. Fine. Concentrate on my breathing, don’t think of anything. Breath in and out... Breath in... and out... I feel her fingers tighten around my head and suddenly hear a loud beep sound in my head. Amelia’s POV As soon as I feel her clearing her mind, I hear a beeping sound. I can see her some of her memories clearly, but nothing of her future. The beep sound grows louder and louder, making my ears ring. Her destiny and future are like a black fog, I try to go deeper as I see a figure there, far in the horizon. Every time I’m about to reach it, it goes further away. Something’s trying to push me out, I’ve never seen anything like this. If it were a curse, I’d be able to see something, what caused it, or how to break it. But with her, absolutely nothing. The beeping grows louder, making it unbearable. I feel her shaking under my fingers and my body’s reflecting hers. Just a little more, just a little further. Whatever is buried deep inside her mind, doesn’t want me here. It knows of my presence, and it’s pushing me away. Layla’s POV Dunya finally let’s Amelia read her mind. I watch as Amelia’s eyes go white, as she gets in. It doesn’t take long, when Dunya scrunches her eyebrows as if pain and Amelia tightens her grip. Something’s definitely not right and I step a little bit closer just in case to take a closer look at them both. I look at Amelia to see, her eyes darken a bit. Am I imagining this? I mind link Daniel to come here, as I´ve never seen her eyes like that. Blood starts running down their nostrils and Amelia's eyes go pitch black. Okay, something is definitely not right. This has never happened. I rush to them and tell Amelia to stop, but my words go unheard. Daniel walks in and looks at me worriedly. Dunya and Amelia both start to shake uncontrollably, Amelia still holding on. Daniel rushes to Dunya and I to Amelia, to break the contact by pulling them apart. We yank them apart simultaneously, almost crashing to the floor. They are both unconscious and still shaking. I lay Amelia on the floor and try to shake her awake. Daniel picks Dunya up bridal style and carries her away. Amelia wakes up her eyes wide open and still black. “Amelia!? Are you okay? What happened?” I ask worriedly. “I-I don’t know...” she says as her eyes turn back to their natural blue color. Daniel’s POV When Layla mind-linked me, I knew right away something was wrong. I stopped self-pitying and made my way towards the kitchen. As I walked in, the first thing I see is Amelia with her hands on Dunya´s temples trying to read her destiny. Layla is inching closer to them, and I can see why; Amelias eyes have gotten pitch black again. They instantly start shaking as if they’re having a seizure, their nostrils bleeding. I rush to Dunya to pull her away, as Amelia still hasn’t let go. Layla and I pull them apart from each other, to notice they’re both unconscious, still shaking. I pick Dunya up bridal style and carry her to my bedroom. I lay her down on my bed carefully, rush to the bathroom and grab a wet towel to wipe the blood off. She’s still unconscious but breathing normally and the shaking has topped. Axel howls in my mind with sadness, it’s heart aching seeing her like this, seeing her in pain. Layla mind links me, that Amelia woke up. Thank Goddess at least she’s awake. I tell them to come here quickly to check up on Dunya. I want to know what happened and why is she’s still unconscious. I sit next to her and wipe her forehead with the other side of the towel, not really knowing if this is helping or not. How did I let her get hurt? How did I hurt her myself? I wrap my fingers around my head in desperation. I can feel the bed shifting a bit and turn my head towards her. She slowly opens her eyes and looks up at me confused. “Danny?” she tries to get up. “No, no, just lay down please.” I lay her down to bed again, holding her hand. “What happened? Where am I?” she asks confused. Layla and Amelia walk into my bedroom and rush to the bed. “You fainted and you’re in my room.” I say worriedly. “Are you okay?” Me and Amelia ask at the same time. She looks at both of us and says “Yeah, I’m okay... I fainted? I never faint....” She said and rubbed her temples with burrowed brows. “Do you remember anything?” Amelia asks as she sits down on the other side of the bed and holds her hand. “I just remember a loud beep ringing in my ears and next thing I know, I wake up here” she says and looks confused. “I haven’t really eaten or drank anything today... So, must be it, I guess...” she says trying to rationalize it to herself. “Yeah, must be it.” Amelia says and looks at me and Layla. Dunya tries to sit up again. “Just lay down, please.” I tell her with pleading eyes. “I’m fine, really. I just need something to eat.” Layla reaches her hand to Dunya. “Come, let’s get you something to eat!” Me and Layla help her get up and she gives me a shy smile while she leaves the room with Layla. Amelia looks at me with worry in her eyes, like she has thousand questions. “What happened Lia?” I ask her with furrowed brows. “I really don’t know Danny. I heard a loud beep, that just kept getting louder and louder. Her future was a black fog, nothing came through. There were gaps in her past, like they were wiped. I felt as I saw a figure in the distance and I felt it’s presence, but I didn’t see what or who it was.” She answers still shaken from what happened earlier. “This is not an ordinary curse nor ordinary magic; I fear it’s much worse. I’ll have to consult the witch council.”
