(Kitiana)
I close my eyes for a few seconds taking a deep breath and listening to the quiet night only to hear that is not so quiet after all.
“I’m doing nothing wrong” I hear a man say.
“You are not meant to be in this world. You along with everyone of your kind will die” I hear another man say while others chuckle menacingly. I follow the voices trying to be as quiet as possible. Suddenly I see a man with long black hair, pale skin, tall, but lean. I sniff the air.
Vampire.
That’s when I see five other males, but these aren’t vampires, they are humans.
‘Hunters’ Aza says. I sniff again when I see blood on the vampires face and clothes.
“Animal blood?” I whisper to myself. Before I could think about it twice I reached for my throwing knives that are in the sheath around my right thigh and throw as hard as I can to my four intended targets. Hunters have hunted supernatural creatures for centuries whether the supernatural creatures are good or evil. To them we are all the same. When I reached for the last throwing knife I heard a yelp. I looked up to see the last hunter had stabbed the vampire. I throw the knife catching the hunter in his Adam’s apple. He grabs his throat while chocking on his blood. I walk as fast as I could to the vampire and kneel beside him. Something tells me that his not evil. I don’t feel afraid around him. I take out the stake that’s a little above his heart and pull it put. I look at the vampire to see him closing his eyes.
I gently slap his cheek.
“Don’t close your eyes. Stay with me” I shift my nails to claws and slice just below my wrist putting it close to his mouth. His fangs bite hard into my flesh and I cry out in pain. Seconds later he lets go licking the wound for it to close. I fall back on my butt feeling exhausted.
“Thank you for saving me, but you shouldn't have done that in your state” the vampire says making me roll my eyes.
“No problem” I murmured trying to get up. Seeing me struggle he helps me up which I thank him.
“Why did you help me?” the vampire asks.
“The blood on you was animal blood, plus I didn’t sense you as a threat” I replied truthfully.
He grins “I’m no threat. I have been feeding from animals and blood bank for centuries. We don’t feed from humans…” I saw shame in his eyes “…except for tonight, but I thank you. I owe you my life. I’m in your debt.”
“Do you live far from here?” I asked.
“About an hour or so” he replies knowing the sun is about to come up soon.
“You are not going to make it back. Come on you can stay at my place” I told him. We walked for a few minutes.
“What’s your name?” I asked him.
“Dimitris”
“I’m Kitiana” I said extending my hand. He smiled shaking my hand.
“When are you due?” he asked looking at my large belly.
“In a month and a half”
“That’s great. Are you happy?” he asked. I didn’t reply to his question instead I stopped when the nasty smell of rogues fill my nose.
“Do you smell that?” I asked Dimitris.
“Rogues” he hissed.
“Stay here I’m going to check it out” he said, and I nodded. Using his vampire speed, he took off. I leaned against the large tree taking out my phone. It was 5am and the sun was going to be up in about an hour or so. I felt a rush of wind whipping my hair around.
“Your home is the one beyond the trees, right?” Dimitris asks. I nod my response.
“Rogues have taken over the house. There are too many to fight” he says. Exhaustion has started to set in, but I needed to figure out what to do. If I called Leyla and the other they could kill Dimitris because he’s a vampire. Then I remember there’s a small cave not far from here.
“There’s a cave not far from here. We could make it before the sun comes up” I voiced my thoughts. He nods and we start walking the way we came. After ten minutes of walking I began to fall behind. My feet were hurting, and I was beyond tired. Dimitris turned and looked at me with worry in his eyes.
“Are you alright?” he asks.
“I’m fine” I lied. As if he could sense that my body was about to give out he picked me up. I squealed at how fast he did it. We kept on walking and I was telling him which way to go until we finally arrived. It was just in time too. He walked deep inside the cave and sat me on the floor gently before taking off his cloak and placing it on me. As soon as the cloak touched my skin I was out cold.
*~*~*~*
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I took out my phone to see it was Leyla.
Me: Hello
Leyla: Thank god you’re okay. Where are you?
Me: I’m fine.
Leyla: why didn’t you call me when you smelled rogues.
Me: I wasn’t home when they broke in. I was out walking for my daily exercise.
Leyla: Where are you?
Me: I’m safe that’s all that matters.
I saw Dimitris figure not far from me. He was awake.
Me: I’ll call you when I find a charger. The phone is about to die.
Leyla: Okay just stay safe please. There’s something we need to talk to you about.
Me: Okay
I hung up the phone and looked at Dimitris.
“The sun is about to go down soon. I want you to come to my home. I promise you will be safe there or would you like to go back to your pack?” Dimitris asks.
“I don’t have a pack” I replied.
“What about your mates?” he asks. I looked at him suspiciously.
“When you gave me your blood I saw it” he said. I looked down embarrassed.
“Don’t be embarrassed. We’ll find a way to get your mates back. Your pups deserve it as well as you” Dimitris smiled. We stayed in a comfortable silence for a while until the sun went down and we made our way out to the city… well more like Dimitris made his way out to the city while carrying me. When we got to the city he made sure to buy the biggest burger there was for me to eat along with fries and a Powerade. After that, a car pulled up next to us and Dimitris said that the car belonged to him.
Sometime during our drive I fell to sleep only to be gently shaken wake by Dimitris. He helped me out of the car and I was stunt by what I saw.
“Welcome to my home” he smiled.
“You have a castle?” I asked in disbelief.
“It houses all the vampires in my clan” my heart started to pace at his words.
“Don’t be afraid, they will not hurt you” he promised. I felt relief because for some reason I believed him. He guided me to the front door opening it only to be met with other vampires looking at us. some even looked at us wide eyed when they looked at me.
“My King. We have been worried about you” another vampire says. Wait. Did he just say... ‘my king?’
“I’m fine Markus” Dimitris reassured him.
“Why did you bring a werewolf to our home?” a woman says from behind me startling me. I jumped placing a protective hand on my belly.
“Camille, my love please don’t scare our guest. We don’t want her going into labor” Dimitris chuckles.
“Kitiana, I want you to meet my mate Camille. Camille, this is Kitiana. She saved my life. I was ambushed by hunters and was close to dying until she saved me” Dimitris tells his mate. I see different emotions flash in Camille’s eyes. Scared, sadness, love and… gratefulness?
“Thank you for saving my mate. We are in your debt” she hugs me taking me by surprise. I’m also introduced to Markus, David, Sasha and other vampires. We all sit at the kitchen and Sasha places a cup of orange juice in front of me.
“Thank you” I smiled, and she returns the smile.
“So, Kitiana why don’t you fill me in about your mates” Dimitris says, so I did. I told them everything from when we met until now. When I finished I could see Camille was in deep thought.
“Is everything okay my love?” Dimitris asks Camille.
“I have a strange feeling I have heard of this before. I mean the effects that she could see on her mates, but I can’t be sure. I have to do some research” she says. I could feel eyes on me. I look up to see Markus looking at me and I can't help the blush that makes its way to my cheeks and he smirks.
“I’m starting to feel tired again. Do you mind if-”
“Not at all. Come I will show you your room” Camille says. Camille, Markus, Dimitris and I get up and walk out of the kitchen down the hall until I see a huge staircase. My mouth almost hit the floor at how many stairs were there. Before I knew it Markus picked me up and I closed my eyes knowing what was coming. Markus chuckled making me look at him. His purple eyes glowed as he carefully placed me down.
“Thank you” I squeaked. He chuckled again before we continued to walk down another hall for a few seconds before stopping in front of a door.
“This is your room. Markus is right down the hall. Camille and I are on the other side of the castle. If you need anything tell Markus. We will see you tomorrow. Oh, before I forget. When was the last time you had a checkup?” Dimitris asked.
“It’s been a while. I didn’t want my pregnancy to get out to the wrong people because of what’s happening” I said.
“It’s understandable. We’ll have a doctor come and check on you tomorrow” Camille says.
“Thank you” I bowed my head in respect.
“Don’t bow your head to us Kitiana. It should be us who should bow to you. You have no idea what you have done for this clan” Camille says. She places a kiss on the top of my head before they leave. Markus opens the door for me and shows me where the bathroom is.
“Did you bring any clothes?” he asks.
“No” I said shaking my head. He walks out of the room only to be back a second later.
“I hope you don’t mind using one of my shirts. I don’t want you or your pups to be uncomfortable” he says. It was really nice of him to think about my pups and I being comfortable.
“Thank you” I blush taking the shirt from him.
“Goodnight” he smiles before leaving. I take off my clothes and go to the bathroom to take a shower. It’s getting difficult to shower on my own. I feel like a freaking whale. After I shower I put on Markus’ shirt before walking out the bathroom. I see a few clothes and underwear on the bed. There’s a note on top.
Kitiana,
These are for you.Markus said you didn’t have any cloths. I hope you like them.
~Camille.
A smile makes it’s way to my lips before I put the clothes away. I take out my phone and dial Leyla’s number.
Leyla: Hey how are you?
Me: I’m good. How are you?
Leyla: I’m good.
Me: How are they?
There’s a small silence before she replies.
Leyla: They are hanging in there. But I want to know where you are? You shouldn’t be out there alone.
Me: I’m not alone.
Leyla: Who are you with Kitiana
I can hear the distress in her voice and that’s the last thing I want. It’s not good for the pup.
Me: Have you ever heard of Dimitris and Camille the King and Queen of vampires?
Mason: I have. I met them a few decades back. They helped us with some hunter problems we had back then. How did you met them?
Me: Dimitris was out feeding on animals when he ran into hunters. Long story short he was about to die and I saved him.
Leyla: Wait isn’t she in danger? They are vampires.
I hear Leyla say.
Mason: Dimitris, Camille and their clan only feed on animals and from blood banks. And no Kitiana is not in danger. She saved their King which means they will protect her at all cause.
Leyla: Oh.
Me: How is everything going?
Mason: As good as it can be. Kaleb and I have taken on the pack while we figure out more about what Samantha has done to the Alphas.
Me: I told Dimitris and Camille about what was going on. Camille seems to have heard about something similar but none the less she’s going to do some research. She’s also having a Doctor come tomorrow to check on the pups.
Leyla: That’s great we need to make sure they are healthy.
Mason: I agree. Why don’t you rest and call us tomorrow to let us know what the doctor says.
Me: Sure. You all have a great night.
I hung up the phone and laid on the bed letting the darkness overtake me.
