15: The End of the Devil’s Fun

1706 Words
It had been two weeks since Erica went to school because of what happened in the girls’ restroom which Olivia and the three girls caused. No one even noticed she was gone not until she got the courage to show up at school on a Wednesday. Some of the people at the hallway threw curious and contemptuous glances at her while the others simply did not care about her existence nor her absence. The poor girl was wearing an oversized hoodie and a pair of baggy sweatpants. Her hood was pulled over to try to cover her pale face. While her tormentors continued to live life and have fun, Erica had her mental health almost completely damaged. All of her life she just wanted to have a peaceful life with true friends without having to be the target of bullies, but life was really unfair that she could not have that. While walking at the hallway, there was only one thing that she was hoping for at that moment and that was to not meet or be seen by the four main girls that had been terrorizing her since day 1. Unfortunately, her prayers were not heard. “Well, well, well! Look who it is!” Some of the students turned their attention to the center of the hallway as the freshman had to stop on her tracks because of the four girls that blocked her way. Torture, once again. “I almost forgot you existed if only you didn’t show up here again,” Lana said and let out a laugh while looking at her like she was an object of ridicule. “I actually she died,” Mia spoke. “Hey.” Ashleigh stepped closer to her and held her chin to force her to look at her in the eye. “Are you ignoring us?” Erica did not utter a word in response as she just stared back at the latter with exhausted eyes—and that was definitely a mistake. “Did you just glare at her?” Mia let out a dramatic gasp, placing a hand over her mouth. “How dare you?” “You are just a useful piece of s**t. How dare you look at me like that when you are just nothing?” Ashleigh snarled as she painfully poked her chest with her index finger, making the latter step back as she continued to do it. Olivia just stood there with her arms crossed across her chest as she was getting bored while watching them when something caught her eye. She raised an eyebrow in amusement as she dropped her arms to her sides and walked toward them, making Ashleigh stop as she turned to look at her with questioning eyes. “So, this is what you’ve been doing for the past weeks?” Olivia let out a scoff as she forcefully grabbed her arm and looked closely at the latter’s scarred wrist. “What, you come back to school to show these off for attention?” “f**k you!” Everyone at the hallway let out a loud gasp in surprise when Erica suddenly pulled her hand away from Olivia and shouted at her with rage. Gasps were let out once more when the freshman was not able to glare at the older girl much longer as she got slapped hard in the face that she fell back on the floor. The blonde crouched as she leaned in to her ear and whispered, “No matter what you do, you will never win. You can hate me, but you can’t do anything to me. Why? You are a pest trapped in a box in which I would be filling it with pesticide. You will always be nothing, Erica.” Olivia saw a teacher approaching them from afar as she tightly held the younger girl’s arm and pulled the both of them up. She then placed her hand around her shoulder as she watched their science teacher walk toward them with his face being filled in utter confusion. “What the heck is going on here? Why is it so crowded? You, what happened to you?” he asked when he turned to Erica. “We’re just playing around, Mr. Jensen. She accidentally tripped and fell on her face hence her face,” Olivia said with a wide smile on her face as she painfully squeezed the freshman’s shoulder. “There’s nothing to worry about.” Their science teacher glanced between the both of them before nodding his head. “Okay. Just be careful, okay? And all of you, go to your classrooms!” Erica watched their science teacher leave, watching all of her hope die. Her bottom lip was bleeding, and she knew that he knew what was really happening. Yet he chose to turn a blind eye to it. Life was an asshole. The blonde then patted her shoulder as she gave her a smirk before walking away with the three girls when the bell rung while the other students that were watching decided to head to their classes as well, leaving the poor girl at the hallway. *** The blonde was unsure whether she was imagining it or the world was really put in slow motion. Their music teacher was speaking and writing on the blackboard too slowly. The leaves that fell from the trees were flying slowly outside the window. The hands on the clock were moving slowly. Everything was literally going slow and Olivia felt like she could die out of boredom anytime. But then all of a sudden, screams were heard from outside which awoke everyone in the classroom. Even though their music teacher did not give them permission, everyone got up from their seats and ran out of the classroom to see other students leaving their classrooms and running downstairs so they followed. Ashleigh, Lana, and Mia naturally joined Olivia when they saw her as they went downstairs to see what on earth happened in the middle of a drowsy class. Everyone went out of the school as they stopped when they saw what it was that caused the other students to scream in shock. The blonde and the three girls froze on their spot when they got to see what was on the ground outside the building. Erica’s body was lying on the ground. Lifeless. In a pool of her own blood. “Okay. Everyone, get back!” one of the teachers shouted as the other teachers blocked the students from coming closer to the body. “Oh my god. Did she seriously jump from the rooftop?” “No way!” Olivia could hear every word that the other students were whispering to each other as she just stared at the freshman’s body on the ground, not knowing what to feel at that moment. It was her first time to actually see a lifeless body in real life, right in front of her, and knowing that she was most likely to be the reason why the girl made that decision was because of her made her mind go blank. “Hey, Olivia!” The blonde blinked multiple times as she turned her attention away from the lifeless body when she felt Lana pat her shoulder, bringing her consciousness back. She briefly glanced around her and saw some of the students throw glances at them before they went back inside the building. “The teachers are telling us to get back to our classrooms or else they will give us detention,” Mia uttered as she nodded her head toward the building. “Oh,” was what Olivia could only say before she immediately turned to head back inside the building without throwing one last glance behind her. The four girls were quiet as they walked across the hallway with their minds still stuck on the lifeless body that still had not been moved from the ground outside the building. They were aware that the students were starting to make rumors about them being the reason why Erica decided to end her life so they did not bother uttering a word while walking back to their classrooms. Suddenly, a person stood in front of them—specifically Olivia which stopped them from their tracks. “Olivia, hi.” It was Rachel. “What are you doing?” Ashleigh frowned. “Don’t think too much about what happened, Olivia. No matter what they say, I will always like you and I will always be by your side. I know the truth is that you’re really a good person with a heart of gold,” Rachel said with a bright smile on her face, totally ignoring Ashleigh. Olivia clicked her tongue as she looked around before returning her attention back on the girl across her. She glared at the latter before speaking, “Shut your trap. The last thing I’d want right now is a new problem who is trying to suck up to me.” “Huh? I-I’m not trying to suck—” Olivia let out a scornful laugh, which stopped her from finishing her sentence. “Oh, please. I’m so sick of you talking to me every single damn day like we’re even friends. Maybe you’re right about me being a good person because I just kept letting you off the hook for the past weeks. But now? No more good person Olivia. “You’re pathetic, Rachel.” Olivia took a step forward to her and looked directly into the fearful eyes of the latter. “You have nothing but a pitiful life. So, stop making people think we’re friends. I don’t make friends with pests.” Olivia then walked away from her without looking back with the three girls immediately following her from behind while Rachel was left there alone at the hallway in shock at everything the blonde just told her with tears beginning to fall from her eyes. As soon as Olivia arrived back home, she did not wait for ten minutes before leaving. She quickly left her things and changed her outfit before running out of the mansion to look for the one person that she desperately wanted to see at that moment.
