CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
Roth cleared his throat, and glancing at him, Stella saw that he had reached the same logical conclusion.
“Where were you on the night Amanda was killed?” he asked Eleanor in harsh tones.
She gaped at him, looking shell-shocked.
“You’re accusing me? I would never have done such a thing!”
But she could have, Stella realized. She was right-handed. That was why the left side of her face still felt on fire from the slap.
“I am not accusing you—yet. But I am asking you an important question. If you three told Amanda what you’d done, and she walked out after making it clear she was angry and disapproving, that represented a very real risk to you, your relationships, your way of life. All of you had a potential motive to make sure she never told on you.”
