CHAPTER SIX The bloodstains caught Stella’s attention immediately, huge and shocking, great crimson stains and smears on the pristine white duvet and pillows that were tangled on the king-size four-poster bed. She stared at them, facing her fears. Breathed in, breathed out. To her surprise, she felt calmer now, as if the worst was over. She no longer felt that she might throw up. Instead, she felt a terrible sadness that this crime had occurred, and a steely resolve to find out who had done this act.
