Waking up with a headache hadn’t been the worst part of his day. No, waking in a jail cell had. The first few moments, Christian had been confused, but then, when realization dawned on him, he’d laughed. It had been a soft chuckle at first, but it turned into a loud and hearty laugh, full of amusement and misery.
“Quiet!” A grumpy guard bashed his baton against the bars loudly, but that didn’t stop his madness from continuing.
“Oy! Want me to come in there and bash your head in?! Keep quiet.” The guard grumbled, bringing Christian’s temporary lack of sanity to an end.
This was just what he needed. Exchanging one jail cell for another. Just perfect.
