"A Beta and his Vampire Princess" - The Story of Greyson Landry and Gena
Gena crept outside the Blood Moon’s packhouse, silently listening to the people inside rejoicing in the safe return of their Luna. She wasn’t sure why she came, for what purpose, but she couldn’t bring herself to leave. She caught a glimpse of Luna Everleigh as she crossed in front of one of the windows. Gena remembered seeing her as she ran for her life outside the Vampire King’s castle. She had always been fiercely loyal to her father, but something came over her that day and it compelled her to look out for the human Luna.
“What are you doing here?” A voice that plagued her dreams called out through the darkness.
“I don’t know.” She admitted, turning around to face Blood Moon’s Beta.
Greyson stomped across the grass, having sensed his mate all the way from inside the packhouse. He watched as she tensed up at the sound of his voice, her pale features becoming alarmed and nervous as she looked over him with her startling blue eyes. Her eyes were the first thing that Greyson noticed, how bright and full of life they were. She angrily pushed her raven black hair from her face, the waves stacking up on top of her head.
“Evie says that you helped her escape and you helped Noah get to the throne room.” Greyson said, stopping a few feet from Gena.
“That’s true.” Gena nodded, shoving her hands deep inside her pocket.
She looked Greyson up and down, sweeping over his tall frame and harsh features. His olive green eyes were kind and soft, a contrast to his sharp jawline, hooked nose, and prominent cheekbones. His chestnut colored hair seemed silky smooth and touchable, Gena couldn’t help but think what it would be like to run her fingers through it.
“They would welcome you inside, if you’d like.” Greyson said,
“Oh, no, that’s not necessary. I just wanted to see that she was okay for myself.” Gena mumbled.
“Is that the only reason you came?” Greyson smirked, stepping closer to Gena. Gena was rooted in place, unsure of herself.
“Wh…what do you mean?” She stammered. Gena, the vampire princess, never stammered.
“I think you know what I mean, princess.” Greyson said in a low, husky voice as he continued stalking towards his mate.
“You don’t say my title to show me respect.” Gena observed and Greyson chuckled,
“I respect you, princess, but no, that’s not why I say it.” Greyson said,
“I’m a vampire.” Gena stated obviously.
“You don’t say?” Greyson snorted.
He was right in front of her now, his breath blowing across her face and the warmth of his skin washing over her like a warm blanket. His eyes looked into hers and she watched as the dark green mixed with a sparkling silver, swirling around like a magical void.
Greyson took a deep breath, like he was struggling to breathe when, in reality, he was simply drinking in as much of Gena’s scent as he could. She smelt of roses and sugar, a sweet and floral aroma that sent both him and his wolf into a frenzy.
“You’re a werewolf.” Gena squeaked.
“Are we stating the obvious? Are you playing a game with me, princess?” Greyson whispered, bringing his hand up to her face and brushing a stray strand of hair from her cheek.
“I rejected you already.” Gena mumbled.
“A half hearted rejection doesn’t count, especially one that’s not returned,” Greyson said, “If you want to reject me, you’re going to have to mean it.”
Greyson leaned in towards her so that their lips were nearly touching, reaching further he stuck his nose into her neck and sniffed. Coming back to the front, Greyson’s eyes were a mix of mischief and desire.
“It’s my eyes, right? That’s how you know I’m your mate?” Greyson asked.
“Mhm.” Gena could only hum.
“For me, it’s your smell. It’s unbearable, intoxicating.” Greyson explained, “What is it about my eyes?”
“They….they change colors, like paint swirling in a cup of water.” Gena tried to remove the lump from her throat as she spoke.
“Oh? What color?” Greyson pressed.
“Silver, green and silver.”
“How delicious. Don’t you want me, princess?” Greyson asked, lightly palming her cheek.
“It’s forbidden.” Gena said,
“Not for mates, not explicitly and not ever if my Alpha has anything to say about it.” Greyson replied stubbornly.
“My father is the Vampire King, he and my brothers would never allow it.” Gena tried another excuse.
“I don’t care about any of them. The Council, your father, your brother, anyone. All I care about is what you think. What do you want, princess?” Ethan asked.
“I don’t know what I want.” Gena admitted in a quiet voice.
“That sounds like the beginning of our story, not the end.” Greyson smiled.
“How do you figure?” Gena felt the start of a smirk teasing her lips.
“A wolf loves nothing more than to be challenged, princess. You will be falling in love with me in no time.” Greyson promised, his eyes refusing to look away from hers.
“I’ll be exiled from the kingdom.” Gena said,
“I told you already, you can stay here. Noah and Evie will accept you and I will protect you.” Greyson’s tone turned serious.
“I can’t stay in a werewolf’s packhouse.” Gena scoffed as if the idea was ridiculous.
“Then, we’ll leave. Just you and me, we’ll go somewhere alone.” Greyson said, to Gena’s utmost shock.
“You’re the Beta?”
“Are we back to playing the game, princess?” Greyson smirked and Gena rolled her eyes,
“No, I just mean that you have responsibilities here.” She said,
“Noah will understand.” Greyson’s eyes were on fire, his stubbornness clearly written all over his face.
“We can’t just run away.” Gena argued.
“Not forever, but for right now, we most certainly can.” Greyson’s thumb was running circles on Gena’s cheek, making it hard for her to focus.
“Greyson,” Gena began to argue but couldn’t get past his name. Greyson growled low in his chest at the sound of it, closing his eyes against his desires.
“Say my name again, princess.” He begged her. Gena gulped nervously,
“What?” Her voice was barely audible. Greyson’s eyes snapped open and they were black with lust, droplets of silver speckled in his iris.
“The way you say my name does something to me.” Greyson purred.
If Gena could flush, she would be bright red by now. She twisted her hands together nervously, biting her lip as she watched Greyson.
“Just give us a chance, princess.” Greyson was begging her. Finally, Gena nodded,
“Fine. But, just remember, you asked for this.” Gena grumbled as Greyson’s face broke out into an ear splitting grin.
