Chapter 36: The Unprotected

Rhea’s POV   Tutoring the guys has been a whirlwind of ‘fun’ for me. They are easily distracted and more than once I have heard them talking about s****l conquests as if they are badges of honor. I had been planning to sleep with Jack the first chance I got, but I’m so over men that I have chosen to wait longer.   I would have quit tutoring if I didn't need the money, and it also helps that none of the players are attracted to me.     Aside from my appearance, I’m sure my age is a natural deterrent, so I have not had any incidences of unwanted advances from any of them. In fact, I think they have forgotten I’m a girl or they have gotten so comfortable around me that they no longer care.   After explaining the same problem for a third time, I start to grow frustrated, and my wolf tells me to try dumbing the equation down by using terms the guys are good at. I turn the problem into a story, explaining each symbol as something they talk about often and I’m shocked by the level of interest some of them start to show.   “That's easy, I slept with three girls at that party,” Brent says, and Mike scoffs at him.    “No you i***t, you are forgetting the VIP room, you slept with six girls at that party.” An argument erupts between the guys, who are earnestly trying to solve the problem I’ve given them.    By the middle of the session, most of them now have a concept of how they should approach brackets and parentheses, something they should have known, but obviously did not. A few of the guys were still struggling to grasp what I was saying, so I switched to money.    I know that all the guys have dreams of playing professionally, and I figure that it will give them a boost in their zeal to study if they realize how critical basic arithmetic can be when applied in the right situations.    “I’ll go for contract number one. I stand to make an even million.”   “You're forgetting the managing fees,” Mike says in reference to the parentheses in the problem I wrote. “Contract number one makes just under 5k.” I am so proud of the boys who nod in agreement, and I confirm that while getting the answer wrong, they were close enough to show that they were improving.    For weeks we maintained that level of growth, and before I knew what was happening, I had a full class of not just football players, but basketball players as well. They had all been calling me Miss Talons, but I took a call from Robin in the middle of a lesson, and when the guys heard her refer to me as Baby B, they became curious.   I am now known as Baby B throughout the school, and anytime I am seen in passing by any of the guys, they chant my name like a wrestler, but that’s my fault. One of the guys on the basketball team challenged me to a stair climbing contest, and I couldn’t say no. He and I were deadlocked with us both nearing five hundred steps, but to preserve the man's pride, I pretended to catch a cramp.   As promised, I have full and unrestricted access to the gym facilities meant for athletes, and sometimes they come for practice when I am finishing up. I haven’t gotten into heavy weights because I’m just trying to rebuild my endurance, but I have been caught running on the treadmill at a speed that shocked everyone, especially coach Jim.   The man has been asking me very pointed questions since that day, but I play ignorant. He is either supernatural himself, or he is from a line of supernatural’s, because he knows what to ask and how to ask. I just know what to answer and what not to answer. I also have a personal supply of scent blocker that I had stockpiled before making the blood oath, which will outlast my academic requirements and help me avoid detection.    Raven’s POV   I have officially graduated with my associates degree in communications and my sister has surprised me with a fabulous dinner. Tucker is still at work, so it's one of the rare times she and I get to spend with one another and just be ourselves.    B tells me that her wolf has gotten stronger, and I am genuinely thrilled for her. She has largely supported our household by working more than a young wolf should, especially one as fragile as she is, but with no support coming in from our family, and with restrictions still put in place by the werewolf council, there is nothing that can be done.    I’ve heard about some of the guys she tutors, and they are pigs, but they seem to treat B with respect, which they better, because I am not going anywhere. Just because I am done with school doesn’t mean I won’t stick around to make sure my sister is okay. They may be men, but I am not human, and I can end their careers with ease.   Dinner is interrupted by Tucker’s early return home; he is carrying a large bouquet of flowers and balloons with my graduation year on it. I leap to my feet and kiss him; I know he must have worked hard to end his shift at the recycling plant early, and I intend to reward him for it.    B and I know that Tucker works as hard as he does because of me. His family has seen me as unfit from the beginning of our relationship, something I only became privy to after our breakup. They think that I am a farm girl who will cheapen their son’s image despite never trying to get to know me.   After changing, Tucker sits at the table, and inhales deeply. It has been some time since he has eaten anything B has cooked, by my design of course, so I expect a euphoric reaction, but I catch the slightest hint of arousal, which can come from food, especially in humans, but it still catches me off guard.   “Are you okay?” I ask, and my boyfriend nods slowly.   “I had a ridiculously exhausting day and I'm just so happy to be back home to see your beautiful face.” A stronger scent of arousal comes from Tucker, and I rush through dinner for him.   When we get back to our bedroom, Tucker pulls me in close and tells me that he wants to try something new. I’m okay with experimentation, but I’m not sure what he and I haven’t tried, so I am a little worried.      ----Mature Content 18+---- “Ray, let's skip protection tonight. It's been years, we are already living together, and you know I will be responsible if something happens.” I haven’t gone into heat, so theoretically I should not be able to conceive, but Tucker is human, and that complicates things.      Still, I find myself nodding along with the man, who wastes no time in making me forget how nervous I am. I mentally apologize to B, because I can tell that tonight is going to be one of those nights where Tucker asks me to be loud or moves so vigorously that it's hard for me to keep quiet.     In my wolf s*x education studies back when I was a teen, I was taught that humans have less stamina than wolves, and could never fully satisfy us, but Tucker has never left me wanting for more.     He enters me slowly, clearly relishing the feeling of skin to skin, which I’m surprised I can feel as well. He releases his seed inside of me and my eyes go wide in shock. I wasn’t expecting him to go that far.  Colton’s POV   Beta female Robin has just graduated, and the Claw pack is organizing a celebration for her. I had no idea she was still in school, but apparently, she switched to online classes after taking her oath, something that Carter and I have also taken advantage of.   I’m not surprised to get an invitation to the pack celebration, but I am surprised when my father doesn’t push me to attend. I end up going anyway because I will have to work with the Claw Pack in the future and I don’t want to sully my relationship with them.    Whatever my father is doing, is his deal, but when I am alpha, I plan to model after our ally, not act in jealousy.   I show up with a vintage bottle of wolf whiskey as a gift, and I’m surprised when Mandy hasn’t darted off looking for Brain. Luna Mavis makes her way to our table, and Mandy smiles for the first time, asking after her cousin, only to be met by a frown.   “She isn't allowed to spend more than a few hours on pack territory until next year, and Raven is still serving out her sentence.” My chest thumps with the former luna’s words, and curiosity forces me to interject.   “So, they haven’t been invited to Robin’s party?” The woman shakes her head and I glare at Carter, who is shifting uncomfortably in his seat. I link him, telling him that he has five minutes to tell me everything he has been keeping from me and I can tell he has relayed the message to Mandy, because she scoffs before walking away from us.   Carter tells me that he wasn’t hiding things from me, but his mate asked him not to say anything unless directly asked.     Apparently, B hasn’t lived on pack grounds in months, and was only visiting when she had been put into isolation.     I know there is more to the story, but Carter is about as knowledgeable as Mandy, who only knows what B has told her.   It's not uncommon for pack secrets to be kept, even between close family members, so I am not surprised that Mandy doesn’t know everything, but I now feel like I know why I haven’t seen Jack yet. He is probably wherever B is, taking advantage of the fact that she is packless and unprotected.
