2647 Words
《Kaytlyn Jones》 I went for my part time work after my evening class as soon as possible or my senior will get angry with me again. But there was an additional worker there, a familiar one to be exact, even though I just saw his backside only. ‘I could tell he’s Jayden.’ "What are you doing here?" I wondered why that messy blond hair guy was here with me. "I'm working here," he replied while putting on the apron. "What?" I said in disbelief. "Since when?" He smiles sheepishly, "Since today." I tried hardest not to smile in front of him. Well, actually I felt so glad that he wanted to work with me here, so I will not be missing him all along "Let's work together, Kaytlyn," he said along with the charming smile curved on his lips, then walked away from me to the coffee counter. He worked as the new bartender at this café who replaced my junior who already quitted his job yesterday. "A-alright," I replied him with a stutter then quickly turned to the cashier as he was about to look at me. 'I just can't believe myself that he actually works at here too. However, the thing that troubles me, why he wants to find a part time job? Isn't his dad always gives him allowances?' 'Hmm...that's weird...' “Umm...Kaytlyn,” he suddenly called for me from the counter. He kept scratched the back of his hair while looking at me. “Can you help me with…u-um this what is this called? Co-f…” I giggle, “You’re so in trouble, Jay.” Then shook my head twice while heading towards him. “How can you apply this position if you totally have no idea how this machine works, silly…” I poked gently on his right shoulder that made him burst out of laughter a little. “I know right, I have no idea too why the manager accepted me here,” he laughed even more. “Okay then,” I explained how the machine worked and how to use it to Jayden until he got it. Luckily, the blond guy was a one of the fast learner people so he got it so quick. “Good job,” I accidentally patted his messy hair again. ‘This hand…ughh…why you always moved automatically!’ He just replied me with a smile then continued to serve the customers who seemed to be a lot than usual we have since I started to work here. A few hours later... The customers were indeed a lot today, especially female customers. I searched for my husband and saw he surrounded by the girls, as usual and they were trying to flirt with him too which made me a bit jealous. ‘I know I shouldn’t do that, but how can I control this feeling. It just….came.’ ‘He's so popular among girls and I have to accept that. I shouldn't be jealous about this kind of thing, because that's his life...although it hurts me sometime to see him being flirting by those girls.’ "Kaytlyn," my manager's voice snapped me out from my thought. "Yes, sir..." I quickly replied and turned to him. "I need your help with something at the back," he said without looking at me. "U-um..do you mind?" "Oh, sure..." Without thinking of anything, I just obeyed and followed him from behind to the backside of the café. It was quite dark and deep inside and I felt a little bit scared of him. He always gave me a weird look and seemed like a pervert too. 'What if I made mistakes again, today?' 'He must be mad at me...oh Kaytlyn, why didn't you do something right for once?' "You know Kaytlyn," he started the conversation and his voice sounded so weird. I turned to face him and to be more surprised is he was unbuttoning his shirt right in front of me with his belt already loosened. "What're you doing sir," I asked him while taking several steps away from him towards the door. Unfortunately, with his quick movement, he managed to stop me by pulling my arm, then pushed me in front that made me fell hard on the floor. "N-no sir, don't do this to me," I begged. 'Someone, please help me....' "Help!!!" I screamed for help but he covered my mouth roughly with his palm and even pulled my hair hardly so we will be away from the door. "Just shut up, stupid girl!" He scolded me. "Arghh...Kaytlyn, why are you so beautiful, huh? Your skin....is so gorgeous...." he then caressed my cheek with his other hand. "You totally make me crazy about you, you know." He crouched so close to me and I could not do anything instead of sobbing, hoping that someone will help me from this crazy guy. 'Jayden....please help me.' ***** 《Jayden Nelson》 “I know right,” I was talking to the female worker who worked as the same position as me, the barista girl. She kind of, you know, just like the other girls tried to flirt with me. But, no matter what they did, someone already stole my heart. “Excuse me, I need…well to do something,” ‘I'm not sure why, but I really feel something isn't right at this moment.’ My eyes wandered around the café and there was still a few customers left before the closed hour. 'Wait a minute!' I searched around for the brown hair girl, but she was not here at that moment. My heart raced faster all of sudden plus the negative thoughts about that bloated guy kept playing inside of my mind. 'I should find her!' Without wasting any time, I rushed into the back door to find my wife as my instinct strongly said that she must be at the back there. I could hear the girls that I talked with before at the counter kept calling for me, but I just ignored them. 'It is because, my wife's safety is my priority. I will never let anything happen to her.' There was a girl’s screaming for help as I walked towards the dark backside of the café. I was shocked when saw Kaytlyn was struggling so hard to get out from the manager’s grip. His cream shirt was unbuttoned, revealing his bloated stomach. "What the f-...." I tightened my fist then punched him hard on the face. He then lost his grip away from Kaytlyn's right arm as he trembled from taking my hard punch and fell straight towards the pile of the boxes behind of him. "How dare you touch her, you Fatty!" "What the hell is wrong with you," then he stood back on his feet while wiping the blood which coming out from his lips. But, I ignored that fatty guy then gave a hand to help the weaken Kaytlyn and even her part of her shirt seemed to rip off. ‘She must be struggled so hard to save herself back then...luckily I came here on time, or else...’ "I'm sorry, Kaytlyn," I pulled her into a tight hug. "I shouldn't let you out of my sight...." Kaytlyn did not say anything instead just hugged me back tightly; maybe scared so much with all of this. "It's okay, I'm here with you," I tried to calm her down and slowly released the hug. Her hair was terribly messed up, and the tears....seemed like she could not stop it at all. 'I really can't see her like this...it makes me.... hurt.' I gently wiped the tears from her cheeks, "Hey, it's okay. Trust me." "What happened?" the other two workers rushed into the room. I quickly grabbed Kaytlyn's arm and pulled her to my back to hide those people from looking at her current condition. "Mr Frederick?" one of the two workers asked the manager. "Are you...." "No...it's not what it looks like," the manager still defends himself. 'What a bastard!' “Yes it is, you fatty ass!” I corrected him. "He tried to harm my...*looks at Kaytlyn through my shoulder*...wife. So I did something that I have my right to do to him to protect her," I explained to them while holding her hand. Those people seemed surprised with my explanation, even Kaytlyn as she pulled my shirt from my behind. "What?!" The manager says in disbelief. “How could be?” "What, what?" I provoked him. "You're so lucky I didn't smack your face harder than that." His eyes were widened and quickly ran away from the room; leaving us with the other workers. "Both of you already married?" The brown hair worker asked for my confirmation again. I nod, "Yeah...so don't try to bother her, or you'll be dead." "Whoa...." He took a few step backs along with the other worker, a short black hair girl. She looked a bit disappointed with my statement...pfft, like I care. "Can I leave you guys to close the café? You know, with all of this happened, I should take my wife home," I asked them. "Oh, yeah, sure...just leave to us," the brown hair guy replied politely. "Alright then, thanks," I replied him with a fake smile. I gently hold Kaytlyn's hand then, guided her towards the back door of the café after grabbing our stuffs at the locker near to us. I did not want to use the front door because as far as I remember, there were still a few customers left before. My hand never let go off hers and she did not refuse or even struggle to make me let her hand go, either, maybe felt safe while being with me at that moment. 'That's good though.' "Thank you, Jayden," my paced stop as I heard her cracked voice. Then quickly, turned my gaze to her. "Hey, it's okay, Kaytlyn," I lifted her chin a bit and gently wiped the tears on both of her cheeks with my thumbs. "It's my job to protect you....as your husband." She looked surprised with my words, and her tears kept falling on her cheeks continuously. 'Did I say something wrong? Why did she cry even more after I said that?' "Why are you crying, Kaytlyn?" 'I really need to know if I did hurt her or something.' She just remained silent. "Don't you like when I revealed to them about us?" I asked her again while holding both of her shoulders. "N-no, it's not like that," she finally spoke out. "Then?" She looked very uncomfortable when I kept staring at her like that. "I-I didn't expect that you will reveal it by yourself," she answered while trying to avoid my eyes contact. I smile, "Well, I think it's the time they need to know the truth." 'Okay...here it is. I need to let her know my true feeling about her.' "But you said...." But I cut her in, "I love you, Kaytlyn." Her eyes turned to be widen more when heard my sudden confession. "And it's my job for me to take care of you...I will never let someone else hurt you and I promise I will keep you happy, always" I added more while closing my eyes. ‘It's the only thing I can do to reduce my nervous feeling.’ There was no response after I confessed my true feeling for her with my eyes closed, that was a stupid thing, well…she made me nervous. I never felt like that whenever I was with other girls. ‘She’s totally different though.’ "Kaytlyn..I-...." I opened my eyes and saw her eyes were glimmering as looking at me. 'I knew it! Kaytlyn doesn't like me back.' "It's okay, Kaytlyn," I sounded a bit disappointed. Hopefully, she did not notice it. "I don't want to force you to love me back but, I want to let you know my true feeling about you anyway." I put both of my hands into my pockets then gave her a quick smile before start to walk again. However, she stopped me by grabbing my right arm then hugged me from the behind. I was in shocked, even my heart to race again. "I love you too, Jayden....." those words really made both of my knees felt weak all of sudden. To be honest, the whole of my body was trembling so badly, but I covered it so she would not see it. 'I really didn't expect that she will love me back. A girl like her, turns to like a guy like me. A bad guy to be exact.' 'I must be so lucky though.' “I-I thought…” I slowly turned to her with my hands were on her waist. “You didn’t like a bad guy like me?” She smiles, “How could I’m not….” She poked gently on my stomach. “You always makes me fall for you every day even though I denied it so much...*cries again*….you are so mean, Jay…” I smile, “Aww…..come here,” then pulled her into a hug. “I felt the same to you and fall for you every time, every day and even in my dreams too.” “B-but why me?” she looked up a bit so we could looked at each other. I rested my forehead against her, “Because you are a very special girl for me, Kaytlyn,” then gently pressed my lips against hers. She did not kiss me back which made me wondering why and stopped the kiss immediately. Our eyes gazed into each other, but it was not for long as she pulled me closer to her slowly by grabbing my shirt and pressed her lips against mine. She tenderly kissed me and replied the kissed back but, it was not for long since the rain started to pour down, made the both of us broke the kiss and searched for a place to hide from the rain. I let her to rest her head on my shoulder while we were sitting on the bench right in front of the bookstore since the rain seemed like it would not stop at all. Another 15 minutes before the curfew hour, and our campus was about a few blocks away. I hold her hand, “So, where should we going?” I asked her while rubbing her hands with mine so she will not feel cold. “To our apartment, I guess,” she suggested. “We might getting punish if the guard find us after the curfew.” I nod, “Yea, that’s true,” I caressed her cheek as turned to face her again. “I don’t care if I got punish, but you…you are the one who I care about.” She pokes my right side, “Stop being like that, you make me feel embarrassed,” I laugh, “What….it’s the truth,” I stood up from the bench, “Let’s go, Kaytlyn….” Then offered my hand for her, which she gladly accepted it with her beautiful smile. “Ready” I asked her, staring at her while holding her hand tightly. She smiles, “I’m ready…” Both of us were running, as fast as we could under the heavy rain, headed to our apartment just a block away. Sometimes, I took a glance at her, making sure that she was alright with my hand never let her hand go, ever. ‘I love you…Kaytlyn.'
