Chapter 3: Truth and KissingCutter Ranch
Blue Coyote, Oklahoma
5:35 P.M.
Sylvie was a chubby black woman in her mid-fifties from Alabama. Although she didn’t live at Cutter Ranch, she resided nearby with her younger sister, Belle, in downtown Blue Coyote. Belle was the lead secretary at Dawson Oil and the right hand of Lee Dawson, the owner of the oil company. Both women hated Alabama and how they were treated in the South by the white folk. In Oklahoma, particularly in Stockton County, they were treated like angels, without any racism in their lives.
“Up, up, up.” Sylvie stood over Fargo, waking him from his sleep. “I don’t know if Chip is in his right mind or not, but a person who suffers from a concussion shouldn’t be sleeping.” She poked Fargo in his right arm, jostling him awake.
