The day before we are supposed to leave, Gavin is summoned to a smaller pack with which he has an alliance. He leaves quickly and warns us to stay together. When he returns late the next night, we are waiting for him. He looks lost in thought and is surprised we are still up. Gavin is pretty unflappable, and this seems to have affected him.
He sits back and starts talking softly. “They were attacked. Two young girls were taken, about seventeen years old. There was nothing distinguishing about them. Young female members of the pack are not ranked. The only witness was a lone patrol warrior who said they seemed to move like a mirage as they ran out of the pack. Never saw the girls with them though. Like some kind of damned ghosts.”
