Zora’s POV
I crouched behind a tall bookcase, strained to hear Lucian's and the mysterious woman's silent conversation. Their voices were muffled and I could not make out the details of their conversation.. Curiosity gnawed at me, pushing me to risk a closer look.
Carefully, I began to inch my way towards the edge of the bookshelf, trying to catch a glimpse of the lady's face. The dim library lights played tricks with my imagination, casting eerie shadows on the lady's features.
Just as I was about to peek around the corner, my foot collided with a metal ladder resting against the bookshelf, sending it clattering to the floor with a resounding thud. Panic surged through me as I watched the ladder tumble, books cascading to the ground alongside it.
