Chapter 5 - Movie Snacks

"Hey there," a deep voice whispered in Freya's ear, sending shivers down her spine. She instantly turned around, to be met with the eyes of a handsome, young man, well built, and blonde haired.  "H-hey," Freya whispered, the close proximity of the stranger making her heart race. "I know you," the stranger said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. His finger brushed against Freya's skin in the process, and sparks erupted where their skins made contact. Shaking her head to snap her out of whatever trance she was in, Freya stepped away from him, blinking. "I'm sorry, I don't think I know you," Freya replied, and watched as the stranger's lips stretched into a rather mischievous smile. "I'm Damien," he smiled, taking her hand, as he bent down to place a kiss atop its back. "F-Freya," she replied, gently pulling her hand away. Once again, Freya woke up out of breath, with beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. She was sick and tired of those awful memories clouding her mind, even in sleep. They wouldn't even let her rest peacefully, let alone live. Freya wiped her forehead with her hand and then reached for her phone, picking it up from the side table. She realized it was already time for her to get ready for work, and heaving a deep sigh she stood up from the bed. OoOoO "I don't really get her deal," Alec said to Zavian as they made their way to the meeting hall of the packhouse. Their Alpha had something important to discuss with the main members of the pack and thus they were called to the meeting hall. "Me neither, but I'll figure it out. I just need more time," Zavian shrugged. "So what's she like?" Celine, Alec's sister asked, joining them. "She's... Different," Zavian replied, after thinking carefully. "Yeah, most of us think that way about our mates," Celine chuckled, but Zavian shook his head. "No, I mean literally. She isn't a normal girl, you can tell just by looking at her. She looks like she has been through a lot in life," Zavian replied, his mood taking a sad turn. Alec and Celine gave each other a look, before changing the topic. OoOoO "Hey Freya!" Iliana greeted her, in her usual cheerful tone. "Hi Iliana," Freya smiled at her, wondering how a person could be so excited early in the morning. "So, here's the deal. You, me and Chris have known each other for two weeks now, and I think we get along quite well," Iliana started, and Freya listened quietly. No we don't, Freya thought to herself. I don't get along with any person from the opposite gender. "And, I was thinking," she trailed off, looking at Chris who raised his eyebrows at her, "that we should hangout tonight," she offered with a hopeful smile. Chris looked at Freya, waiting for her to agree or deny first. He didn't want to pressure the sensitive girl into anything, knowing how she always reacted to him. "Um, I don't know," Freya thought of an excuse, but before she could continue, Iliana was pleading with her. "Oh come on Freya, please, please, please?" She begged, and hugged Freya, much to her shock. Iliana then whispered in her ear, "The thing is I really like Chris and I wanna get to know him further, but I'm too much of a chicken to ask him out directly. Please help your girl out," the desperation was evident in her voice. Iliana pulled away from the hug and looked at Freya, mouthing 'please' one more time, and Freya sighed. "Okay. What time and where?" Freya asked, a small smile on her face. "Yes!" Iliana exclaimed, literally jumping up and down, and pulled her into another hug, making Freya chuckle. Friends are good. OoOoO " Don't you go to any other restaurant?" Freya asked, serving Zavian his Tarragon Steak. "I go where my favorite blonde is," Zavian grinned, making Freya roll her eyes. "Look, I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but let me be-" "Freya!" Iliana called out, walking towards her. "That's your last table, we're leaving now." "Now?" Freya frowned, checking the time in her wrist watch. "The movie is at eight." "Yeah, but we're girls," Iliana chuckled. "We'll take two hours to get ready, and well, you gotta help me in choosing what I wear," she said laughing nervously. "Maggie will kill us," Freya pointed out, her eyes switching to Zavian for a second who was not so discretely listening in on their conversation with a huge smile on his face. "I've already talked to her," Iliana replied, winking. OoOoO "So which movie are we watching?" Chris asked, as he stopped the car in front of the cinema. "You can see when we collect the tickets," Iliana replied smirking. "Fine," Chris replied, before muttering something under his breath as he not so discretely shook his head. Freya and Iliana went inside the building, all three of them splitting up, as Iliana went to collect the tickets that she had booked online, Chris went to park his car because apparently he would never trust valets, and Freya went to get the snacks. Freya joined the shortest queue, hoping to get back in time for the movie. "Well, well, what a coincidence!" An all too familiar voice said from behind her, making her start. She swiftly turned around, her eyes narrowed, but they turned wide as soon as she realized how close he was standing. "Wh-what are yo- Step back," she stuttered, and Zavian did as he was told with an obedient smile. Taking a deep breath, she found her voice again. "Why are you following me?" She questioned, her arms crossed. "Well, I could say the same about you," Zavian smirked. "How?" Freya asked, her tone rather harsh. "Well, for starters, you're new in town and you immediately join my favorite cafe, then you start visiting the park my little brother loves, even though I didn't see any children with you, and now you're here. To my favorite cinema," Zavian pointed out, a playful smile stretched across his lips.  "Excuse me? How on earth am I supposed to know these are your favorite places?" Freya defended. "I don't know, you're the one stalking me," Zavian shrugged. "I am not stalking you!" Freya said, backing away as she realized that the queue had moved forward. "Are you sure?" Zavian asked, taking a step forward with each of Freya's backward steps. "Yes," Freya replied, and that was when her back touched the counter. Zavian took the last step forward, closing the space between them, and Freya's breath hitched, as she shifted uncomfortably. Zavian inched downwards, making her suck in a breath, as his eyes stared into hers. He was searching for a signal, a positive emotion in the seas of her piercing blue eyes, but all he found was fear, and discomfort. His own smile faltered, but he covered it up with a mischievous smirk before finally speaking. "Two large fries and one large Pepsi, extra ice." Freya frowned at his words, before she finally realized what had happened. "Yo-" "See you in the movie," Zavian winked as he bent down and gently head-butted her, before taking his leave, confidence radiating from him. Freya just stood there blinking, and catching her breath, before she finally noticed the stares everyone was directing at her, and turned around to place her order. OoOoO "What took you so long?" Chris asked Freya when she returned with their snacks. An annoying moron, Freya thought to herself, but did not say it aloud. "The queue was really long," she lied, an apologetic smile on her face. "Oh, let's go now," Iliana said and walked away, being followed by the other two. They went inside the theatre and found their seats, with Iliana sitting in the middle and Chris and Freya on either side of her. The seat beside Freya's was empty, and she prayed to God that a creep wouldn't sit beside her. Or a couple. According to Freya, couples were not fun to be around when watching movies. "So we're here to watch Underworld, good choice," Chris commented, smiling at Iliana. "I know, right?" Iliana beamed. Freya quietly listened in on their conversation, not really reacting to any of it, as she hadn't heard of the movie before. She started munching on her French fries as the advertisements played on the screen. Finally the seat beside her got occupied, and she was relaxed to see that it was a girl, who apparently was alone. However, her relief was short-lived when a guy walked up to her seat, and a familiar voice asked the girl to switch seats. Freya tried to focus on the guy's face, but it was too dark to decipher any of his features as his back was facing the screen. She could tell when he moved his head to look at her, and she instantly diverted her eyes to Iliana, trying her best to ignore the man. She felt movement beside her, and could tell that the man was now occupying the seat next to hers as the fragrance of a strong cologne infiltrated her nose. She felt warm breath on her left ear, sending shivers down her spine, and Freya sucked in a breath, curling her toes within her shoes. "Hey Freya," the voice whispered to her, and finally she recognized who it was. She could tell just by the way her name rolled off his tongue, as if he was the only supposed to use it. "Zavian," she whispered, not turning to face him. "Why do you always end up being around me?" He asked, his tone playful. "You-you're a stalker," Freya replied, shifting uncomfortably in her seat, "and extremely touchy. Get away from me," she said, resisting the urge to violently push him away from her ear by his face. "Okay, okay," he chuckled, the sound a little too pleasant for her ear. He moved his face away from hers, and finally she felt like she could breathe again. She didn't fail to notice how oblivious Iliana was to the whole affair, too busy staring at Chris. Freya dared to look to her left and make eye contact with Zavian, who looked exceptionally handsome even in the little light that accentuated his face, his cheekbones appearing to be sharper than they normally looked, and his gray eyes shining, as usual. She found herself noticing the tiniest details about him, like how a few strands of his straight, black hair fell delicately on his forehead, or how full his lips looked. However when those lips stretched into a tiny, amused smirk, she managed to tear her gaze away from him, and focused it on the screen. She was almost sure he would pass a playful or mischievous comment about her staring at him, but what he did say was worse, as it made her suck in a breath. "Don't feel ashamed of staring, Freya, because in all honesty, I would stare at you forever, without even blinking." OoOoO
