Camile I quicken my pace until I am standing before the precinct. It is an imposing stone structure, and it seems to frown on the city, but I figure it’s intentional. I take the steps two at a time until I"m running up them. In my zeal, I trip and stumble up the last step, but catch myself on the railing. The receptionist doesn"t look up from her book as she waves me forward. "The elevator"s still out," she says with a flick of her wrist. “You gotta take the stairs.” My heart skips a beat as I rush up the flights of stairs, eager to tell Mark about my visits with Gwen Hayes and Jason McClure"s daughter.
