In the depths of the city in a land known as Riverdale; there was a girl named Shannon Matthews living with her parents. She was a girl who had her talents gifted to her by God Himself. But in the past, she had a trauma that no one was aware of. She lived in a haunted house; that’s what she used to call it anyway. The house had three floors, the ground floor consisted of the dining room, the TV lounge, two rooms and a kitchen. The first floor had two rooms and a lounge whilst the third floor was used purely for storage. The trauma had quite an intense impact on her life. She started seeing things differently. Every time she heard even the littlest of the creek from the floor boards, her ears would perk up in alarm. She could not tell her parents about the noises because, according to her, her parents would say she’s being paranoid. Her days used to be normal like the rest of her age fellows. She had her routine set. Shannon was ten years old, and that’s why she used to sleep in her parent’s room. She had a sofa c*m bed alongside a wall. Sometimes when she didn’t want to sleep on her bed, she would squeeze in with her mom and dad. Her home was open for her relatives to come and spend their vacations with them. One summer she was hosting her aunt, her cousin and her grandfather. They were given a room on the first floor to stay in. Then one night an incident occurred that had her awake for the rest of the night. She started getting spooky vibes from the house afterwards. She saw a shadow on the wall of her parent’s bedroom whilst sleeping on their bed. A shadow she believed was her cousin’s. the light shown on the wall in such a way that each passing object had its shadow casted on the wall. There was a gate and above it, a lamp. There was a window a short distance from the gate. Shannon witnessed that shadow in the early hours of the morning. Everyone was asleep in their rooms except her. The shadow she saw was the exact copy of her cousin’s. “The shadow had the appearance of my cousin as if he had a glass in his hands, coming downstairs from the first floor going to the kitchen. I got excited to see that he’s awake. And wanted to see him as soon as possible. But I didn’t see him go to the kitchen physically. There was just the shadow. This piqued my interest and I went after the shadow which I presumed to be my cousin. When I entered the kitchen there was no one. I even checked behind the door to see if he’s hiding there to scare me. But I saw nothing.” “I saw something in the pantry that was attached with the kitchen. I felt that there was someone in there. I opened the door and again I found nothing at all. I was scared and I went back to my parent’s room. I really wanted to wake them up and tell them what I experienced. And I heard a thud in the kitchen. I was terrified. I didn’t want to check this time. So I woke my mom up and told her I heard a sound and that something is wrong. mum got up to investigate the pantry and to find the source of the sound. And she saw a plastic bowl on the floor. She had no explanation as to how the bowl fell to the floor. She told me to go to sleep and that it’s nothing to worry about,” She continued, “I asked my cousin in the morning if he came down last night, knowing that he did not. And that’s what he said. He told me that I would never come down alone in the middle of the night.” She added, “That I wasn’t being paranoid. I saw that shadow for real. And that the house is haunted.”
