Chapter 7

1923 Words
Maya had only taken a few steps out of the supermarket, her shift having just ended, before stopping in her tracks when she saw Neil waiting patiently in the parking lot. "Y'know," She waltzed over to his car that he was leaning against, "If you keep showing up at my job unannounced, I'm gonna think you're stalking me."  He easily threw an arm over her shoulder and pulled her into chest. "Can't have a young woman like yourself walking home at night. What kind of boyfriend would I be?" Maya rolled her eyes and stepped away.  "A text wouldn't hurt, y'know? My manager is gonna think you're my personal stalker with how much you show up." "Aren't I?"  The ride to his apartment was filled with a comfortable silence and quiet conversation every now and then. "Do vampires just lack manners? You didn't even ask if I wanted to come to your place." "Awe, but we miss you." He threw her a small glance, smirk set on his lips. "Elijah won't shut up about you." This sent a tingle down her spine.  "Liar." "Do you think she'll come over today? She was wearing a skirt again today. She has the prettiest eyes-" "He did not say that." Neil chuckled. "Okay, maybe not the last part but he does miss you. He doesn't even live with me but he stays around a lot just incase you come over."  "Hmm." Cute, she mentally sighed.  "I heard you two got a little close after class, eh? I didn't know you were such a risk-taker, Maya. What if someone walked in?"  "Shut up," She grumbled as her ears turned red, "you almost sound jealous." "Oh I am." He nodded to himself before placing a hand on her thigh, unaware about how this made her feel. f**k.  Finally pulling into the parking lot outside of his apartment, they both got out of the car and headed inside the lobby and up the stairs. "Hey," Her eyebrows furrowed in concern when he suddenly grabbed her waist for support, "are you okay?"  He hummed and forced himself to stand straight. "What? I can't touch my girlfriend?" His hand slipped into Maya's and pulled her the rest of the way up and through the door, making her brain fry.  "Is Elijah here?"  "Should be, unless he left while I was out." "What's it like, living together?" She set her bag on the couch before plopping down beside it.  "He doesn't live with me, he just likes to think he does." She laughed airily. "Shut up, you totally like him being here."  He didn't confirm or deny this. "It's fine, we get along well so it's just like living with your best friend, y'know? Like how you live with Kasey."  Maya cooed loudly. "Your best friend? That's so cute." Neil flicked her forehead before taking the seat next to her. "What were you like as kids? Um, wait, how old are you?"  "Old." Is all he responded. "He was annoying as f**k as a kid, I hated him. Everything I had, he had to have too. Everything I did, he had to do but better."  Maya was going to respond, about to coo about how absolutely adorable that was before Elijah gave her another heart attack by suddenly appearing next to Neil. "That's not true." He firmly denied, frown on his lips.  Neil didn't even flinch. "You still do it too. I wanted Maya, you want Maya too."  "Um, I'm not a toy." She interjected but it fell on deaf ears. They bickered back and forth and she stayed silent after that, too intrigued from them interacting with each other.  It's not like they didn't talk with each other, they were pretty close, but when Maya was around, she was usually their main focus.  "Whatever." Neil finally groaned and tilted his head back against the couch. His laid his arm over his eyes and Elijah frowned.  "Are you still not feeding?"  Neil made a noise, not really answering but Elijah seemed to understand while Maya was still confused. "What?"  "He's starving himself." Elijah supplied, disapproval lacing his tone. "I'm not starving. You're exaggerating."  Scooting closer to him, Maya frowned worriedly. "You're not feeding at all?"  Neil lifted his arm, eyeing her for a moment, before setting his hand on her head in a soft pat. "You don't need to worry."  She chewed at her lip, a habit she's had for years. "But you're- are you hungry?"  "I'm fine," He assured, "Elijah was exaggerating."  "Why aren't you feeding?"  He seemed to hesitate at this. "I'm still feeding, just not as much."  "You seemed dizzy on the way up though. Are you sure it's enough."  "You worry too much." He attempted to wave off casually but she wasn't convinced.  "Is it because of me?" She asked quietly, slowly started to feel guilt fester in her stomach. "I know you guys need to feed, I don't want you starving yourself."  Neil sighed, somewhat fond, and cupped her cheeks in both hands. He gently shook her head. "Stop worrying. I'm fine." He assured. "Worry about Elijah, he's gonna be homeless when I kick him out."  The matter was dropped then but it didn't stop her from sending him worried glances while they ate or while they watched a movie. Especially when his movements were more sluggish than normal.  "Stop it." Maya swatted at Elijah's hand on her thigh, again.  "Stop what?"  All three of them were lounging in Neil's unnecessarily large bed while they watched some movie in the background. Though, none of them were paying too much attention to it. The twins decided early on that it was more entertainment to tease Maya instead of watching the movie in silence, like she'd tried to do.  Neil pulled his hand away from where it'd been playing with her hair and sat up from the bed. "I'm gonna shower real fast. Do you want a change of clothes?"  "I have some, it's okay." The words were already out of her mouth before she could stop them. She mentally whined, I could've worn their clothes.  Elijah raised an eyebrow when she turned her full attention to him. "Is he really okay?"  "He'll feed before it gets too serious. He won't let himself die or anything." He assured, probably thinking she thought the worse.  "Why is he starving?" She frowned. "He didn't before."  "He's been doing it since we got together." He admitted which made her balk, weeks?  "How often do you need to feed?"  "It depends how much we drink but usually a few times a week. He's fed a little now and then but not enough. I've tried talking to him about it but you know how he is. He tries to act like everything is fine."  She played with a few curls while internally have a battle with herself. She didn't want him to starve of course but she hesitated at the thought of them feeding from her again. "Do you, uh, do you think he'd drink from me?"  Elijah didn't seem surprised from this question, knowing she didn't like seeing Neil like this and wanted to fix it. "I doubt it." He admitted honestly. "You're part of the reason he's doing this, even if he won't say it. I think he's trying to see how long he can go without blood for, ah, future purposes."  Oh, she blinked. Imprinting. She was gradually coming to realize how important imprinting was for them.  "That's stupid." He snorted. "Try telling him that." She tried dropping the subject after, not wanting Neil to hear if he came out. "Have you done your assignments?"  Her nose scrunched. "Don't act like my professor outside of class, it's weird."  He laughed. "Weird? I think it's a little kinky, no?" "Are you trying to tell me something, Elijah? Is this a kink of yours?"  "And if it was?" "Is it?"  He shrugged and flashed her an easy smile. "I like anything that has to do with you."  Maya felt herself become flustered as she looked away from him and mumbled a quiet, "Shut up." He smirked. "And yes, I have done my assignments."  "See? I knew you could be a good girl."  She turned, ready to throttle him for making her even more flustered, but stopped short when Neil walked out of the bathroom.  They've all f****d plenty of times, hell they f****d just a few days ago, but she still ogled him like it was the first time seeing him indecent. He wasn't even naked, a towel hung lowly on his hips.  There was just something about him being her boyfriend now that made her even more attracted to him. Especially while looking like that.  He looked over and made eye contact with her before suddenly going stiff. His chest rose once, and then twice before his eyes darkened.  Elijah cursed lowly and before she could even blink, flashed from next to her to in front of his brother. "Move." Neil demanded lowly, expression so unlike the carefree one he usually sported.  "Calm down." Elijah had a hand on his shoulder and Maya could see, even from afar, that he was tightening it with each passing second.  Neil breathed in deeply, trying to calm his nerves. "I am."  Elijah didn't move, steady eyes trained on his older brother. "I told you to feed. How long has it been?"  Neil finally shrugged his hand off. "Don't worry about it. I'm fine."  "This is fine? You were about to feed from her because you're so deprived."  He clicked his tongue, almost afraid he'd say something he'd regret. "I wasn't going to feed from her."  "I'm serious, Neil. I'm about to make you feed from me if you don't do it soon." Maya's eyebrows drew together, was that possible?  Neil pushed past him and walked over to his dresser. "Yeah, yeah. I'll feed tomorrow."  Elijah watched him for a moment before deciding he was finally in control and took his original spot on the bed. Maya felt a little out of place, like she'd seen something she wasn't supposed to.  As if sensing this, Elijah pulled her to his chest. "Relax," He whispered softly against her ear, "your heartbeats going crazy. He's fine, your scent just sent him off a bit."  "My scent?"  He hummed. "Your scent changes sometimes, it's fine. He just needs to feed."  Maya slowly nodded. "Vampires can feed from each other?"  "Mhm, but only if we've fed ourselves. It'd basically be him sharing with me. It's distasteful though so vampires rarely do it." If he was willing to share his blood with him, it must be serious right? "You can drink from me."  Neil cast a glance over his shoulder and she felt Elijah stiffen. "You don't-" "No." The older declined firmly before quickly correcting himself, "No, thank you though." He finished getting dressed and ran a hand through his damp hair. "I'll feed soon."  "But I want to, I'm really fine with it." She insisted and twisted her fingers together. "I've actually been thinking about it for a while now." The twins shared a wary look. "Seriously, I have! It makes me a little nervous but not in a bad way anymore. And," She grew a bit embarrassed and admitted a bit sheepishly, "I'm not saying I get jealous when you drink from other people, but um, yeah I get a little jealous."   "Jealous?" Elijah teased in a playful tone. She shied away when he ducked down and tipped her head up to look at him. "You really want to? Are you sure you feel comfortable?" A slow nod. "If you're gentle." She gave him a small smile to both of them.  Neil stilled looked a little doubtful. "I don't know if I could stop myself, since it's been a while..." He trailed off awkwardly.  "I'll stop you." Elijah offered which instantly calmed Maya's nerves.  "Neil," She sat up on her knees while speaking softly, "I promise it's okay. I'd tell you if it wasn't."  He bit at his lip before reluctantly giving in. "Okay."
